The 'Kit' Lens barely zooms at-all. Most lenses have slight zoom.
Mike Deere
Technically, a standard lens is a 50mm f/1.8 lens in standard 135 terms. However most DSLRs do not use standard 135 terms due to a crop factor, usually between 1.5x and 2.0x. A 50mm lens in standard 135 terms is referred to as a standard lens as it gives a crop roughly the same as the area that a human eye can focus on.As a result of the digital revolution the meaning of a standard lens seems to be changing, normally it means a small wide to short-tele zoom lens in the region of 18-70mm (or 28-105 approx in 135 terms.) These lens are much more suited to day-to-day shooting as it saves changing lens all the time and getting dust on your sensor.Anyhow, back on point! I use the following:Nikon D70 DSLR bodyNikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX LensNikkor 50mm f/1.4D LensNikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G DX Lens (now sold) Nikon SB-80DX FlashgunAssorted flash gubbins2x Olympus OM10 SLR bodies2x Olympus 50mm f/1.8 lensesVivitar 28mm f/2.8 lensTamron 80-200 f/4 lensOlympus 2x TeleconverterSunpak 30DX Dedicated FlashVarious bags/tripods/other old flashes too, should have another wireless kit on the way soon as I binned mine the other day as it was to be frank, utter bollocks.I do want stacks of new digital kit though. Need money first though! Got me eye on a Nikon D2H until the D3 is announced. Edited June 25, 2007 by mikedeere

Mike Deere
whats 135?? dont you mean 35 mm? oh and the d2h is 4.0mp. the d2x is far better ( albeit a slow fps.)I know the D2H is 4.1 Mp, but what people don't know is that it's sensor is 12.4 Mp just like the D2X, and there are firmware hacks that unlock it to it's full potential. The reason that Nikon created firmware that outputted 1 pixel of image data from every 4 pixels in the sensor is primarily for speed in this case, but also it virtually eliminates noise as they found out when they made the D1X. Nikon let slip that they were using sensors with 4x the resolution back when making the D1 series and then they did the same with the D2H. Plus with the right software (Genuine Fractals plugin for Photosho) you can blow the 4Mp images up to the same size quite comfortably.I use a D2X quite regularly for work etc, I like it alot and if I can get something that performs the same for a fraction of the price then I'm all for it. The D2X can manage the same 8fps as the D2H, except at 6Mp instead of the 4Mp of the D2H. The SB-800 (and 80) do a good job with keeping up with the frame rate too!And yes, 135 is the name for 35mm format.

P.S. you have some nice kit.So you'd like to think hey. The canon 'cleaning system' is apperntly pretty poor. Olympus has by far the best cleaning system and no one can copy it due to copyright/patented.I did have a good link to show water droplets lay horizontal on a Super sonic wave filter being launched upwards due to vibration but I can't find it.I read on dpreview somewhere that on guy had 100 sensor spots on his new £3k mark 3 in a week and said the 'cleaning system' did bugger all. Anyway thats just someones experience. Not that it really matters but im mighty bored:D70s18-7010-2050 f1.870-300 apoSB600Tripod, bags, filters etcSigma SA7 + 24-70 + 75-300 push pull lens.Mac book Pro for editing.I've got enough kit to do everything I want, only thing I would LOVE is a 10.5 fish and some pocket wizards. Tony Harrison
Ha ha, reminds me of the photography forums where everyone has a list of their kit in their signature! Think Mike would get in trouble for taking up too much page space!!! Think Mike needs a caddy!!I use a D50 (but I think a D70 or D80 is on the cards now...), the Sigma 10-20 wide, Nikon 18-70 as an everyday lens (although I've hardly used it), my old Nikon 18-55. I have a 50mm F1.8 and a Sigma 70-300 on the way. Got a SB600 speedlight which I intend to put to use with some bike stuff, as it has a duration of 1/900th second which I've read should keep things sharp. Some other cheaper flashes, radio triggers, various bags, tripods, stands, filters and memory cards. The majority of this lot I've bought in the last few months - went a bit crazy really, but then I did make a few quid off some photos and magazine work I helped out with. Should've paid off some debts, but I decided anything I make from this will go back into it.Also got two big bags full of old Olympus kit, as I want to try some film stuff again. Got given it by my grandmother, she was going to put it on eBay. If I start using it, I'll give her some cash, if not it's going on 'the bay'. It's an old OM1 with a few lenses, lots of flash accessories. Needs a good clean. Got a Praktica and accessories somewhere, my first SLR that was, plus a Pentax MZ-50 I got bought for my birthday. Nice camera at the time, need to put the lens back together.

Judging by what you have, you don't need the following:Tokina 10-17Canon 17-40Canon 28-80Canon 50 f/1.8Canon 75-300And if you're being picky, you can get rid of the Canon 70-200 aswell! That's a lot of monies worth of kit... Tomm
Not that it's really for you to say, but I believe Mike has a bit of an import/export eBay business where he buys lenses and then sells them on again. So those lenses are not all for his personal use.
