N.Wood
I've got a vague interest in high-end watches but i'm looking to extend my knowlege, and possibly looking into picking up a second hand piece in the future. When i say high end, i don't mean Animal/Seiko or even Armani/Gucci etc, I mean Panerai, Breitling, Patek Philipe, Tag Heuer, Rolex, etc.I feel i my be asking in the wrong place lol, but anyone have any info/experiences? andyroo
I very much like Tags. Go for one of them, they are pure class. DONT buy a rolex, they all look like they came out of a christmas cracker.Seiko do do some nice stuff if you wanna get started though, in a different league to the likes of Animal! I have a very nice Seiko, and I've never seen another like it; mainly as it wasn't sold in Europe, but it really is nice. My wife prefers it to any Tags she's seen, but shes probably saying that to stop me buying one lolGet abroad to Saudi or somewhere like that and get a nice discounted Tag

Rebelistic
I'm trying to get myself a suunto d3 as cheap as possible - found a place that sells them for £150 ish. It's a freediving watch that records depth, time temperature etc. I reckon that's pritty high end in terms of performance.Maybe not what you're after though. Tomm
I've got quite a nice Seiko that I got as a 21st birthday present. It's really nice, not super expensive but looks nice. Only problem is that I wear it all the time and I've scratched it loads from riding (and crashing) with it on
Hendrix
and what ever you do, don't, DEAR GOD, don't ride trials while wearing one!!
anzo
I'd had a billion watches in the past 5 years, currently got a dkny one, which is nice, but if your looking for something to wear all the time, I'd recommend something a bit...practical. Even if you do buy a Rolex, people will just slate you behind your back and accuse you of buying fakes...So, unless you have a couple of grand to buy a NICE rolex (eg. Daytona) then I wouldn't bother.

Tomm
and what ever you do, don't, DEAR GOD, don't ride trials while wearing one!!I'm too forgetful to take it off before I go out though. Which is why I should never get a REALLY expensive watch.
Fish-Finger-er
ive got an armani watch, it tells the time, i need no more, nah seriously though i like it, its not too showy, could be worn down the pub, and its just a watch, but at the same time, looks respectable and stylish enough to place next to your notes when in an executive boardroom meeting(as looking at your wrist is a no no in these situations, whack it next to your notes, and no one takes notice that your watching your watch rather than what they say)
dave85
I like watches, for their functional beauty more than their place as the trappings of wealth. I wore a plain simple Smiths pocket watch (no jewels, 30 hour movement and glow in the dark hands and dial) for ages because it fitted my top jeans pocket perfectly That and its a damn sight nicer to read a nice big dial than squint at the digital screen on my phone.I wear, on the very odd occasions that I need to look smart, a Rolex Oysterdate that my uncle gave my father in the early sixties. Its NOT showy, infact its very understated and few people recognise it as a Rolex, keeps time well and is an absolute beauty to clean and work on. The clockwork is superb, almost fully jeweled but its very sensitive to oil so works best in summer haha. Got a nice scratch across the glass circa 1965 from when dad came off his Thunderbird I downright refuse to wear anything quartz, they're just too good at telling the time and there's no warmth or soul from them. dave85
Yes, no point having something that beautifully made only to shut it away in its case and show it off to the great unwashed.
