Lots Of Rain = Flooding

My dads Merc is flooded. He went through a very deep puddle in the road and its completly arsed the engine. I went through a deeper section (nearly coming over the bonnet) in my Astra and drove away happy. The beck behind my house has rose about 2ft and is washing away huge boulders that support the weight of some guys driveway.

Water ingress in the engine can cause bent rods as water doesn't compress like air :(

Well he made it through the deep bit and was basically out of it when it conked out. He is mighty pissed off though due to the fact he had just collected it and was on the way to sell it for a tidy bit of profit, but thats now going to go on fixing it.

I will call him a mong in a few days when he's calmed down. I shall also tell him the story about the man who built his house upon the rocks, he hates it when i do that.

That happened to my dads van throught a smallish puddle, No deeper then the tyre.

Water round heres just causing havoc on the roads, they closed a whole road off round here cus it was 5 foot deep in rain.

Ye i got day off from work today, so even though dad advised me not to, went down to Centertainment with my girlfriend in the mini to go bowling and watch Fantastic 4.

Well....we went bowling first for couple of hours, then went to the Cineworld there (4pm-ish) to be greeted by a staff member saying they were closed, and i asked what time they opened and he said not today now. Girlfriend said there were signs on the doors saying cinemas closed due to health and safety. Weather im guessing.

So we thought, hey why not head down to Meadowhall cinemas, so we did.....15 mins to get out of centertainment carpark. 20mins to meadowhall from there, constant traffic, then to be greeted by police officers not letting people through as Meadowhall is closed. Had to wait 1 hour in traffic to get home. Using headlights, heater on front screen, heated back screen, 2nd speed wipers :P

Apparently Meadowhall was closed, and people are stuck inside :S (dad said he heard summit about an explosion near by)

Chesterfield - heard its flooded, queen's park is flooded, people are going around in boats :P

Parents just went out to pub in a country village area, theres and area where it dips low, and apparently it was flooded with water, and dad in discovery didn't go through, yet this little green 4x4 grinned and went through, so he did, and it was ok, but the water was up to the top arches on disco, so 3 foot or so :S Also said there we people stood watching like laughing and cheering.

They got to pub and rang me to tell me there was a mini sprite in carpark, abandoned. (i know the car) owner had gone through, got stuck, and left it there :P obviously drowned the poor thing.
