robster
Well folks what do you reckon.Just thought I would start this one off.Sat...... got there late trying to get gas for my cooker which never even got used.(sos Andy boyes) Took a good hour to put the bloody awening on my van thanks lttle Tom.Got our team sorted. Rob, tara, becky, Tom ?, me and a lad who's name I forgot. Set off to ride fun trial, Tara decided to let me ride on her behalf as she was a little scared, becky was a little bit out of her depth so I had to push her round each section, I told her the observer couldn't see me as I was invisible. We had a real laugh all day. Then Doug Lampkin turned up to hand out the awards, now that went down a real storm with the lttle uns. Then it was the food time, all ate very well indeed thanks to the scran van. Most of the lads did loads more riding then but I was far to knackered by then and I was on my 4th or 5th tinny. we sent all the little uns out to gather fire wood and what a job they did only thing was that some Monty rider went and put Robbies bike on the top. (pics to follow)then the rest of Sat seems to be a bit of a blurr :$ Sunday morning hit me like a brick, stiff legs arms and a real headache . Rob decided it would be fun for me to ride again, so i did. We had 70 or so riders on Sunday so the ques were the only trouble, oh yes and then the heavens opened and thats when it all went bad for me, I have left so much flesh and skin on the peddles and rocks it is unbelievable. Oh yeh I scratched my new bike as well, not at all happy Rob came second and I came second last :$ . Every body that went and helped out, a huge thanks from me and my familly, I am sure i speak for all of the Tyke trial comitee you all conducted yourselves in an exelent manner and left the place in a very good and tidy condition. Thanks again all.P.S I can hardly walk today and Rob wants me to go out and ride with him tonight.............NOT A CHANCE your stories would be nice to here post em up.JP
basher
Got there, bike wasn't working tryed bodging it quickly thought i had so start to put tent up then relised everyone else had gone riding so went down and left tent, was doing expert route and the was a few taps / rolls, my bodge wasnt good enuff and everytime i went to ride to do a tap or roll i nearly ate the rock as the chain jumped bloody screy but i kept trying till i got up the rock for me team. Manage to set bike up right after first lap and did pritty good after that but was feeling the effects of little drink and no food all day. After trial had tea ect and got tent up and went out for a ride was trying a sidehop and BOOM bars snapped. And in the morning i was going to bring spair ones but decided meeh be r8 what a mistake. We went round messing around allnight and being round fire calling each other like you do lol And in morning my mum and dad drove an hour and half to a place they had never been and had no real idea of where it was, and managed to find it to bring me my spair bars which id never used and where different to my others. Put them on and went for a gander at the sections and they where pritty sketchy on red route with the damp conditions at that stage and decided to wimp out and do blues because i didnt want to hurt meself with my holiday comeing up. Blues was to easy really and little boring and i got five and won that could of been 2 but i was nakered and was being frantict in last 2 sections as mates dad wanted to go so lost silly dabs. All in all it was a great weekend and a good laff enjoyed it loads. Was really well run and thanks to all that made it happen.
matthewholdsworth
now then i think i have perhaps had one of the best weekends of riding and have a horror story to match the best of em!staurday started badly, turned up with a stonking hangover and little sleep the night before. managed not to show myself up too much and help TEAM KEITH to 4th place with a total of 7 i was well impressed, more beers before future trials i think.saturday night was fun, just messing about on the multitude of rocks littering the surrounding fields, and watching people go about destorying their bikes pre trial on sunday (hudson your face was a picture) before have a good laugh camping over. sunday was all set to be ace weather was holding out just about and i was feeling less like i was about to make a deep pan pizza without the base.first lap was shocking in the dry i managed to drop 21 points, 4 stupid stupid 5's, very annoying then the rains came, things were lookin good for a high scoring round. managed to keep to no 5s for rest of trial and only the odd 3. then disaster.goin to hand punch card in with 6 sections to go i slipped off a rock into another one and found myself in an uber amount of pain. anyway i soldiered on i hadnt paid £19 squid and endured the finest british weather to give up now.hobbled round the sections in horrendous conditions, rode as well as i could and finished!packed up quick sharp to head home, using heal to press clutch pedal i was in that much pain (and ash refused to drive haha). ice my foot for a good 30 mins then drove of to play a game of football. won that went to airedale A&E, and at half 11 was told i should be walking!!! now on crutches feeling very sorry for myself, 4 weeks off riding top stuff. here are a few pics, some ok ones some just capturing the weekend we haddrop to manual in first section of the day, matt rushton official nut jobif at first you dont succeed....shove a twig in your snapped bars, the hudson way if it aint bodged it aint worth riding Edited June 25, 2007 by matthewholdsworth

matt rushton
Was a great Trial. Saturday: was in a team with Ali, Waddy, and the Olivers (Sam,Tom and Abi).Came Joint second With Bolty's team, but we had 6 people so we should of won. Then snapped my BB half way through the trial doing a jump that was nothing to do with the trial. Saturday night: Went out riding again face planted a rock. (Well my chin). while trying to Tap and taped too low. (Brett saw that). Also hurt both of my elbows. And the funnyest thing of the weekend Hudson snapping his bars.Sunday: We (Me, Ash smith, Hudson and Matt Holsworth) were all sat in tent waiting for trial to start looked at watch its 11.05 (Trial started at 11). So we looked out of tents and every one has set off so we had to get bikes out and get ready to ride. Also Nice pics Matt. Any of my actual manual?Matt Rushton
Hurman
The weekend seemed to fly past!! The weather on Saturday seemed to be just for us as everywhere within a 10 mile radius had loads of rain I made the most of an easier blue route on the Saturday and went round with just 6 marks which was halved thanks to my fancy dress, a poor mans pirate :$ The kids had a great time on the fun trial and the lads we went round with were a super bunch of kids and although we were propping the bottom end of the results table up we all had a good day and made some new friends. The venue was fantastic and the atmosphere friendly. The camp fire at night kept all ages occupied foraging for wood in the form of sticks and in the case of some of the older and supposedly wiser ones full on trees!! The fire and flowing Haribo sweets kept the kids up until midnight which meant they went straight to sleep but had an adverse effect the following morning I wasn't as brave as JP and decided not to ride on the Sunday which started off very promising weather wise but which then turned to pooh rather quickly. My son dropped 5 on a section he could ride with his eyes shut and with the beginners class being so close now we thought it was all over. However, once again I find myself humbled by the spirit my kids have. I thought it was the end of the world and that we may as well go home but Adam had other ideas. He shrugged my negativity towards him off all day and just got on with the job in hand, riding Ok so he had got an early 5 but as the heavens opened so did the scores but Adam only dabbed a couple more times to finish on a 7. Unfortunately so did someone else and because we had taken a nice long dinner break we had come in behind the other lad time wise so ended up 4th.You have to experience this sort of thing to really have an understanding of it. How can a 6 year old be so calm and collected? I would have been in a heap on the floor and carried the baggage of a 5 with me for the rest of the day As an adult you think you know most of the things about life but kids just turn your world upside down and make you look at the whole life thing in a different way Not only was this a super social weekend with loads of laughs but once again I find myself getting to know my kids even better. I have also learned to give my youngest, Elliot, the camera to capture the day from about 3 ft up from the ground instead of 6!! We have a camera full of pictures of Bella, a golden Labrador and Dougie Lampkin, apparently an unknown British Champion A brilliant weekend and loads of fun.
