barrybaines
Hi all, I am looking to get into cycle trials to help out my learning curve on the motorcycle trials and also just because I bloody love 2 wheels! So I hope you don't mind but I may bug a few of you guys over the coming months on whats the best this or the worst that, as I am planning on building my own bike in part form to get a nice rig and to help spread the cost a bit. I am leaning towards the 26" set up as I feel this would be more help for the moto trials than a 20" would be? (please feel free to voice opinion on any of this)So how big is the trials scene down here in South Wales? (I am in Chepstow) Barry
Boswell
Hi, welcome to the forum. From looking at your spelling and punctuation you will be validated in no time. You said you joined the forum to find out about bike trials and you have come to the right place, i know there are loads of people including me on the forum that will be happy to help you with any queries.I really think moto trials is amazing but i don't have the money or nurves to do it myself. You said that you want to ride 26" to improve your skills on your motorbike and i agree i think a 20" would be pritty pointless for you(I'm not being biased or anything i myself ride 20"). I feel that a good 26" starter bike is a phase 1.2 , It has a pritty decent spec and i think it is great value for £500. Alternatively if you want something a little cheaper why not have a hunt on ebay. Edited June 22, 2007 by mr ?
barrybaines
Thanks for the speedy reply and infact the advice. I have had a look around on ebay but am really looking at buying in bits as previously mentioned but there seems to be a lack of trials frame sellers around on there at the moment? Although I do have my eye on the few that are listed, just a waiting game now I suppose, are there any specific frames I should steer clear of? perhaps the older Megamo or are they still a decent bit of kit

You will be able to chat to the seller before buying, so you will get a really nice frame. What is you budget? you need to work out a spec before you start. See I am terrible when it comes to these things, last time I built a bike (dirt jump) my plan was about £1000 full build but things came up and time was not to much of a problem and the end cost was more like £1500. I guess this build I would prefer to keep to somewere around £500 obviously this will involve a fair few second hand goods and again time is not an issue as I would prefer to have a decent bike than a rush job. Have had a look around the for sale forum and am looking forward to being validated so I can use this facility. As for the spec I honestly don't know enough as yet to get this far into the details but I'm sure a good couple of days hunting around the differnt forums will get me up to speed.
