Lac
Hi.What drill bit size will I have to use to drill up the hole, before i use the special thread tap supplied with the 6M HeliCoil repair kit? Can I use standard 6mm or 6,5mm, or do I have to use some special size? An eBay store said 1/4" (6,35mm) was the right size. Has anyone got a size table? Thanks in advance. The helicoil kit i used had the chart and everything.. but i dont have it any more! But 6.35mm sounds about right, if you have access to decent measuring devices (calipers, micrometers etc..) measure the outside of the helicoil, should be a gnats wing over the original hole size.If in doubt do a test run on a scrap bit of metal with that 6.35mm bit and see how it taps, and if you have spare coils, whack one in and see how it does!Sorry if thats confusing...
