So, I'm Back, And I Was Wondering....

Hey people,

It's been about 3 years, but I got the trusty old Echo ES4 out the shed last night and felt the addiction seep back through my veins.

I was wondering whether anyone else has spent this long off a trials bike from like 17-20, then got back on and realised that your moves are just as big, if not bigger (and a lot more scruffy) than they used to be?

I never thought strength was a big factor in trials, but it seems I was wrong. Trust that I will be out as often as I possibly can over the coming few weeks to see whether I can get the smooth factor back, and then come out on some rides :)

Have just got back on after about 2 years off, but I was 21 when I sold up. I quit after breaking my ankle, and figured that trials was causing too much damage to my body and bank account. Have started again now as just a bit of fun, as it's more accessible than dirt jumping, and less time consuming than xc. However, I'm way out of shape since I stopped riding (the broken ankle and knackered shoulders kept me off any bike for about 18months) and am finding it a bit of a push. However, I'm on a BT Raven 3.0 now, and finding touch hops easier than I ever remember! It's the longest bike I've ever ridden, and I'm finding it pretty fun.

I haven't really got the bug back, but any riding is pretty hard for me right now, as when I'm not at uni, I'm at home studying, and when the weekend and holidays come around, I gotta work my ass off just to stay alive! Well, buy food anyways...

Glad to hear your enjoying a come back. I might even get myself back into some group rides when I get the car back in September. See you there!!!

I'm thinking about getting into it again after 2 years off the bike. Just gotta find the money to get a bike, would get a t-pro trade from work but they come with shitty v brakes now.

*cough buy my tlite cough*

erm

yeah, I got back on bikes after about 8 years off (17-25) - in no time I had all the basics back and within weeks I was hopping higher than I ever had.

I'm still shit, I'm just shit bigger

  • 1 month later...

i definately didnt think there'd be many people on here that had just started riding again. My absense can be explained by being knocked off the bike by a dick head drunk driver a couple of weekends ago, losing half my face and then spending some time in hospital. I shall not be kept off the bike though, just had to rebuild the back wheel thats all!

anyone ride caterham/croydon way and want to help me relearn this trade?

I spent a month off of my bike, it was the worst month of my life.

Lol

Anyway, yeah haven't spent more than 6 months or so off my bike in one go within the last 3 years and even that was because of injury and to be honest I had lost quite a bit of height and A LOT of control but that comes back after a while, I'm sure it's a similar case for 2 years maybe, I mean the first week you suck and than it really picks up again.
