M5 Helicoil Repair Kit Sets

i'm going to do it myself for what its worth, then i have the kit for future, the helicoils are 25p each, its just the kit thats around £20 , i have found one on a tool shop online for around £25 posted, just wondered if anyone knew somewhere that sells them cheap?

The one my dad got was 20 and then on top of that you need a tap wrench to put the tap in not sure how much they are. Try good old ebay.

theres the one i'm looking at, all i need extra is a drill bit, but i aint sure what size i need, does anybody know?

Anyway found one on ebay now for about £30 posted with drill bit the lot looks a good tool aswell

I think it's a 5.2mm tap you would need and a M5 Helicoil tap so your only drilling out under 1mm of old thread if that makes sence.

And if you are feeling dangerous you can do it without a tap wrech, Ive used mole grips while out in the wilderness with my drill, it's not precision tapping anyway, you can do it by eye no problem and if it's aluminium your tapping into it's really easy to keep it straight.

i got one off ebay for £6 including post and packaging :D

Nice... however I once bought a cheap tap & die set from eBay... BIG mistake! I threw it in the bin and bought a decent one the same day I received it. I'm sure most people will have also experienced that its worth buying good tools first time round instead of buying a crap tool, messing up what you were trying to do, and THEN having to buy a decent tool!
