MadManMike
If the bottom of my headset is not all the way in the bottom of the frame but is tight - what is the worst that could happen?Cheers Mike
Mat Smith!
Flare the headtube? but if its tight, should be alright i suppose .Matx
MadManMike
Hmm, I hope not...Anyone had this problem before?I was literally whacking it as hard as physically possible and it got to about 2.5mm of being all the way in then just would not budge. aener
I can only think - if it's a brand new frame - you may have had a freak of machine and the hole is the tiniest bit too small?Sound's a dumb question, but is it a compatable headset? I know someone who had a frame to take an internal headset, but got a normal one that was somehow a lot wider, and hit that in. The interior bit of the cups was much longer, and butted up against the bearing braces inside the frame - leaving about 2.5mm jutting out the bottom.Other than that.... Pffffff..... Did you put it in wonkey? Not a clue.
JoNnY__Mc
Can't really think of an explanation, take it out, lube it up abit more and try put in a straight as possible
MadManMike
It's in dead straight, it's an FSA Pig DH Pro going in a DMR Trailstar so it's compatible - it just will not go in!Aaargh...
Guest
tighten it up and ride. Worst that'll happen is that youll knock it right in some day when riding, and your headset will need tightened again, just make sure you have a top cap allen bolt with you. Muel
Rather than twatting it, use a headset press, I have found that twatting couldn'tget my FSA pig in all the way, so I got my dad to make two presses and stuck a huge piece of threaded bar through, then lamped it up.If you don't have one and can't make one, take it to your LBS and get them to do it. Greetings
Yep, it does more than just remove the bearings but i doubt many people would be using it for anything else. Tried to make one but there's an expanding mandrel in that device that has to fit perfectly into the hub. Couldn't find one. Here's a vid of this tool in action in case you're interested, it's actually quite basic: tv.isg -> kingservice.aviHaven't got a technical drawing but a hub should be enough to get the measurements. If one day you get really bored, make me one and i'll buy it.
