Are you an Engineer or an engineer? (Y) I'd hope you have more than an A-Level to call yourself and Engineer. Resonance wise, why do you want to know the frequency? It's obvious that resonance is occuring. As for the frames cracking? I agree with StinkEE - if it's going to crack, it's going to crack. Jon
  2. Do you ever wash the pads in your helmet? That might help, but here's some more useful advice: I don't really have an issue since I don't wear glasses, but I found my eye jacket oakleys weren't very good to ride in. When I lost them I bought some half jackets which allow the sweat to run off the bottom. Eye Jackets: Half Jackets: I don't know how practical it is to change your frames/have a set of riding glasses. I had an excuse to change mine (Y) (although my original oakleys turned up months later ) Jon
  3. Check your rim is dished properly, ie. central in between the mounts. Set the brake up again (properly (Y)) Look in the FAQ for Marks guide to setting up rim brakes. Jon
  4. I very much doubt Hope would release a product that fails after 1 minute. I suspect it was fitted incorrectly and is a bad example to base an opinion on. There is a topic in Trials Chat about the different braided hosing - use the search. There's been plenty of topics in the past about the pro's/cons and I'm not about to write them all out for you. As for expansion in the hoses - I think the difference is negligable on a trials bike. The pressures are much less than in a (generally servo/vacuum-assisted) car system. Jon
  5. It's near Liverpool... don't think it's that close to Somerset.
  6. Cats are much better than dogs.
  7. Chainmail/leather gloves mean you can dispose of the broken glass.
  8. The place where it wont clear if it doesn't is at the sides. This is roughly 8cm above the canti studs. Have a gander at your existing setup and see if the corners of the tyre are likely to clear that. Remember that the booster will be sitting further away from the existing magura booster which will give you more tyre clearance. I hope that makes sense - it's difficult to explain. Jon
  9. It's most likely that the template file is corrupt. The file is called normal.dot and should be in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates directory in XP. After re-booting the computer, move or rename this file and open Word. Word will automatically create a new template file and all should be well. Jon
  10. The Gel stuff is a bit crap. Try Wartner or a similar thing - they allow you to freeze them off. Jon
  11. There's also a dead HD axle which has been ridden so hard it's gone too. :P
  12. It's worth it. You'll notice the unex being slow. A few of the very first sets of Unex hoses had leakage issues, but I've not heard of any in the past year or so. Try: MAGURA BIKE PARTS UK LTD. Telford Way, Stephenson LE67 3HE Coalville, Leicestershire phone: 01530 837195 fax: 01530 811286 service_uk@magura.de to ask if they do a rear only braided kit. I've onlt ever seen them as a complete set. Jon
  13. Surprised I've got a mention in here. I'd like to nominate Mr Heatsink for providing me with a spare inner tube at both DJ rides since I had no luck with punctures that day. Jon
  14. :) My Magura braided hosing has lasted over 5 years. The Unex stuff makes the frame feel a bit gash and the return slow. Some people run the goodridge hosing and I believe Hope do a braided hose for Maguras now too. I've no experience with either. Jon
  15. I think you're quite narrow minded and have a (negative) answer to everything. I don't think forums like this breed stuck-up biggots - I think within society and the sport anyway and that the internet and forums like this means you're exposed to a much wider audience. In the same way there will always be "Bike Tarts" who need to have the latest thing to make their hobby more enjoyable. Just because there's a place for them to show off their spangly new bits doesn't mean they enjoy trials any less than the next person. I think you're as ignorant as you make them out to be by thinking they're sad by doing something they enjoy. Are you a stuck-up biggot blowing off steam on one of these forums? Jon
  16. They are... but Petey gets them cheaper cos he owns/used to own 2.5 bike shops. (Y) Is it a manufacturing defect? Or general wear and tear :D Jon
  17. Google is your friend. I think you need M5x0.8mm kits - they should be around £25-£30, but you may be able to get it done cheaper at a local engineering place. Ask around. Here's a guide: linkage Jon
  18. That's strange. I thought they ran the same bearings as the old Hope Ultra-Lightweight. I got replacements from my local bearing supplier easily enough... Jon
  19. I have that 'feature' on my 24" forks - the mounts are really high making the pads sit lower on the v brake arm. Whilst I'm sure it's a good idea in principle, there are consequences. I hate the feel (or lack of) that it gives - I'm running Ultimates with Heatsink's white pads. I guess on the back you don't need as much feel on the brake, but on the front it's a  from me. You should be able to get the same effect using the speed dial on an avid brake lever since it's all about moments and cable pull. Jon
  20. I get my petrol from Petrol Direct It's loads cheaper than anywhere else I've seen and they can even supply Perfuel for my girlfriends Ka. Jon
  21. Forgot to mention I was talking about the 140/130g disc hub.
