We had problems with Telewest - kept getting cut off from the Internet. Restarting the boxes would bring the connection back, but sometimes it would drop again within 5 minutes. After phoning them several times they told me my wireless router was broken which I replaced and that didn't fix the problem. When I next talked to them I refused to hang the phone up until they could tell me what the problem was. After going through it all, the guy checked the contention ratio and it turned out that there are too many people in our street/area who are subscribed to the service. He couldn't do anything else for us, but we wrote a letter to Telewest. They gave is an automated response and we didn't hear anything again until I phoned and asked what was happening about it. They said the complaint had been closed off as it was complete! Ended up getting them to pay for our new wireless router (£40) as well as getting £9 a month off for the next year. The connection still drops, but they are going to dig up the road and sort the problem out! Jon
