You should hit the obstacle with quite a bit off speed and you should aim for your front wheel so it just clears it. You should have a spring off the rear wheel to then lunge upwards, but your body must follow the momentum from start to finish. Its hard to explain but defiantly easier to watch and understand a video. You shouldn't be hitting your chest though... Frames and forks love hooks by the way Good luck.
