I use meths to remove mine Spoke down the grip, get some meths in there, twist and pull, job done.

Check that the tyre is not sitting on the rim tape anywhere. If it is, that can cause the tyre not to seat properly. Hope this helps.

I run a booster on mine and I prefer it this way. It's nice and stiff and the brake works great, I find it too spongy without one.
