  1. Jeez, good thing that it was proven it was a fake, otherwise we never would have known :S

Edited by Mark - summary of posts: How delightful. £10 it is.

    Questions.

Only problem is is that my gay-ass Onza cranks have the tapers set at a 45° offset, to each other, so I'd need a whole new crankset, which would be more than £28, I'm guessing. Equally, it's just that I've stretched the tapers too much on mine to be able to fit a Claw on a 127.5mm BB (cheers for suggesting that Ad), and I've raped the thread where you remove it. All of which mean Mark is a :S boy. Thanks for the info on the Eno anyway :P
  4. But saying that, generally if you're going over well rough stuff on natural you're going to be running your cranks parallel to the ground, so it's not a *huge* issue?

    Questions.

AHOY HOY! Anyway, now the "Hallelujah, I'm out of work" furore has died down, I've got some questions to ask of ye all. Basically, I'm looking at getting an Eno Trials freewheel. I simply can't afford the £160 for a Profile, £20 for a build, £20 for the sprocket, etc. - so I'm going for the cheaper option. I've been running a Dicta front freewheel for the past year (16 clicks (assuming they click) - how joyous), so anything's an upgrade :S\ Eno's have been out for a fair while now, so I'm guessing people have had 'experiences'. What are they like? I know they're 72-click or summat, so that's sexy, but what about their strength? I think ages ago I heard some riders complain that their's died pretty quickly, but what do people think now? They still working OK? Do they skip much? Better/worse than a Claw? Secondly, cranks for mods: I'm running Onza Musclemans, and I need a new right crank arm. However, I kinda fancy them in a slightly longer...er...length, so have any mod riders here tried running 170mm cranks on their mods with front freewheel? I quite like the idea of having a bit more torque, but does it feel rock-ass weird? I'm looking at the DDG Orbitas 'cos they're only £45, but the right crank I need's only £28 new, so I might just go for that - but has anyone tried a longer one? Thanks for any help, Mark. P.S. Back in the day when I ran Tensiles, they seemed pretty sexeh, and that was 170mm length, but I was running 22:14 then, so I didn't know how it'd affect me if I was using 18:12...
  6. # It's a bit of a pity you have to ruin a perfectly decent cat when you nail them down to take photographs like that :S
  7. Yeah, I know what you mean. The front end needed to be about 10mm-20mm longer, and it still snapped like kindling, I guess...
  8. Hmm, sounds cool that they've gone more for mod development now they've got the stock range sorted... ressurecting the T-Bone, or are Onza going more for UCI stuff now?
  9. Yeah, that's a good call. So how pissy-thin is the UCI ring? I'm *sorta* tempted to go back to running just a bashring. Maybe. I dunno. I might actually buy my Tensiles off Onza, then get a 14t or 15t freewheel and run rear freewheel. Hmmph. Who knows.
  10. Cheers Mr. Ad  I'm guessing by that the start of the taper by the bulgey bit at the end of the crank are is either moved back or recessed slightly... Anyhoo, thanks :(
  11. Are the crank arms just the same? (Bearing in mind I'm on school, and Trials-Shack is banned 'cos it's classed as "Personal Pages" so no pics/vids for me ) Is the price going up or not?
  12. Different lever (theoretically better) and vastly improved 2-bolt mounts.
  13. New Muscleman cranks? What's different about 'em? Anyhoo, looks to be freakin' awesome for that price, to be fair. Even if the frame's weaker than a new-born, you're still getting a nice swag of parts  I quite like the industrial look of that proto frame, as it goes...

Bearing in mind Matt Burrow's snapped the crap out of his P-X Pitbull which was 7lbs  Nah, I know that different riding will decrease a bike's lifespan accordingly, but 4 months? The thing is is that we don't know how much/smoothly it was ridden, as we've all said before, so...er... there we go.
  15. Basically, if you hear a good song and think "Someone could put a vid to that", and don't mind the world finding out, post it in here. I'll get the ball rolling: "Helicopter" by Bloc Party. It's freaking awesome, pretty upbeat, good different sections so you could get different sorts of riding to go with different parts of the song, so it'd seem to be edited super well... Mark.
  16. So basically, you learnt to spell your name wrong? Mahrk.

Thing is is that Planet-X's warranty reputation was a bit tarnished because of claims not being lived up to and all that, whereas from what people have said here, if their Ashton's snapped they're usually helped out? No offence to Brant/anyone at P-X, but Ashton's a trials rider, and so he probably has had some idea of what we're going through in the past so he seems to help out. Same way Cleanbikes sent someone a replacement frame same day that they got told about the crack so the person could ride on the weekend (this was before they even got the other frame back \). Bikes might ride nicely, but if you made an uber light frame that had, say, the Coust geometry it'd ride properly nicely because it'd have good geometry and very low weight - but if it breaks, it's not a good bike? Trials bikes need to have good geometry and have a decent strength: weight ratio, so if they mess one of the two factors up then it's a bit poop? That's not to say all the Tibo's are shit or whatever (Although people are drawing doubts as to the seat-stay bridge?), but there we go... Mark.
  18. Something inherently shit will always be shit.

Well yeah, that's what I meant. You could theoretically do an uber smooth 7 1/2ft drop, but at the end of the day that's you and your bike falling down a 7 1/2ft vertical drop, so it's never going to be joyous. Either way, 4 months isn't long (Y)\

Well Brant, I guess it's just that to the average person here, shelling out a coupla hundred quid on a frame is a fairly big deal, so if it dies after 4 months of "not harsh" riding (quotation marks 'cos who knows what the truth is, in fairness) then I guess he's going to be a bit stressy about it... Either way, thanks for replying I guess. Nice to know industry types are watchful.

    Bike Pics

The thing is is that the Sites/Vids section got utterly shite recently when every thread was "Look at my new Python" or "I've just got a new ziptie on my bike (pics!)". There was a Bike Pics thread made, and people still didn't post in it. I know I saw other people kinda reminding people about it being there, so I guess that in light of them continually not posting in the bike pics thread that the Admin are looking at other options. If people had just put them in the bike pics section that was made it would've been fine. I know that generally people aren't allowed to reply in it, but do you really need people to tell you how nice your bike is so you can bask in the glory being given to you by randoms who've never met you? Either way, we now know where they are so if you want to see all the Pythons the world has to offer, just scoot to the Gallery section or something...

    Px Tibo...

How didn't you notice that? (Y) I guess it's understandable seeing as all the forces going up the two stays would've been transfered to the single stay when the other one was cracking/snapped? So it's not a right shocker, really... But yeah, PX don't have a good history really, there seemed to be some issues with the back ends and them staying on the bikes, but I think the majority of residual bad feeling is from the "warranty issue".

    Broken Hose

Generally though, they'd make you pay that with a cheque though because it'd cost too much by credit card? So you'd have to wait for the cheque to get there and clear, etc. Whereas he could theoretically have one by tomorrow/day after from here.
  24. I can't afford to get a disc, then get a new front hub, then get the wheel build, so I stick with my Magura HS33 up front. Used to be a "V's all round" sorta person, but Maguras have got a shitload of hold. Pad-wise, I'm running 1 Plaz CRM and 1 Koolstop red 'cos it's all I had to hand. However, the CRM's about 1mm thick at it's thickest point, so I'm a bit rogered now. Still locks and stops me a good 'un though, so can't really complain. Mark.
