How come it's now £50-ish (not inc. P&P) for the CF risers, yet it used to be £50 for bar and stem? Or was that just the flat bars? Either way, they're still hella good bars, I really dig mine. They're the nicest feeling bars I've groped. Right sweep, width, shape, etc...

You COULD have a huge cock grafted onto your head though, but it'd still not be worth it...

Sorry for being pushy, but did you get a chance to measure one?

Not necessarily. It'd be pretty much impossible. The thing is is that you'd have to have a different sized rear sprocket due to the fact that flip-flop hubs on trials bikes can only take 16t+ freewheels on one side, and micro-drive (i.e. 14t-) freewheels on the other. This means you couldn't have two 12t sprockets on the back, which means you might be f**ked. This is 'cos you'd have two different ratios on each side, so you wouldn't actually properly engage it on one side whilst you did on the other due to the chain-slack being taken up differently. I know when you ride mod you've got front freewheel so it means that the chain's always got some slack taken up, but it'd still be messed up. Two freewheels would indeed leave you with half the engagements, a lovely mushy drive, two possible points of bike death, and it'd be straight up pointless. The rear freewheel might as well just be a fixed sprocket. No, you don't get the fact that you won't catch your trousers as easily, but as long as you're not a 'tard it's not too hard a problem to overcome... Mark.

Mauna Loa, in Hawaii. EDIT: You b*****d, I bet you mean "On the sun" or something don't you :- ------------------------ Olympus Mons, on the planet Mars. I dominate.

Beware the follow-through... Pretty damn impressive vid. Some bits were fully :- Nicely done, Mr. Tunni :)

Anyone know the rise and reach? Was tempted by the Echo Team stem, but it's the same as my current T-Master stem in terms of R&R... Thanks.

They worked it out at 35 board feet, from the amount of earth a woodchuck moves when it makes it den. No f**king joke. Oh, and the 5-string bass question - it's frequently EADGC now, for some weird-ass reason.

55.9k/sec here, on 572k BB.

Just make sure no-one on here makes the mistake of thinking the Gusset trials pedals would be any good at all... I guess the VP question is the same as why Ashton uses Raceface cranks?

Eno's are £70 inc. P&P from Jimbo if he's got any left. I think Tartybikes are one of the few places that actually stock (note: that stock - they have some in, whereas other places have to specially order the 12t driver ones) Profiles, and I think they're also one of the cheapest, but you're still looking at £155+, although check their website for details. They used to be £135 from www.wiggle.co.uk, but I don't think that that deal still applies any more, at least not to 12t driver Profiles. Mark.

Seems I was pretty much on the money with my assumption that TM1 would rape the bandwidth for the month :- Sucks. Good luck with the new server, Mr. Simon. Anyway, was a good vid in some ways. It got a *little* bit boring towards the end. Not because of any one fault, it's just that I think the overall vibe of the video was almost too chilled in a way? Either way, it was still a cool vid. Was nice to see what you're all up to riding-wise anyway. Mark.

It's a fully serviceable freewheel though too, to be fair. I've had my Eno on a coupla days now,. and it's reassuring to know that whereever I try and get engagement (whereever the crank is, if you see what I mean), it'll engage nicely. It skipped once, I think, when I first used it, but that's been it. Either way, when it did skip I only noticed 'cos I heard it 'cos it engaged almost instantly on the next E.P. It does rip your trousers, but for me that's not so much of a problem 'cos I generally use the excess lace from my shoes to wrap around the back of my leg straight from the last lace-hole on the shoe, then back round the front so it ties the flapping part down, so it's not as noticeable as the townie-look :- Don't forget to include £10-20 for the wheel build and spokes with the Profile too. It's only really the fact that I got an Eno brand new for £70 that made me get it, 'cos the Profile route was going to cost me about £200-ish for the whole shebang, incl. hub, spokes, lacing, fixed cog, which was more than I could really justify when the Eno did everything I needed it to. I was initially sceptical about the idea of the Eno freewheels and about whether it was £60 better than an ACS, but really it is. There's none of the problems such as lockring undoing that you get with the ACS, it's made from tough materials, sealed bearing so it's a solid feel to it instead of the loose outer of the ACS - everything's just as good as it could be, basically. The reassurace of 3 pawls engaging at once is also pretty fly. Personally, I'd go for the Eno 9 times out of 10, but if you can afford the Profile you might as well go for that? Mark. EDIT: You can't get Profiles for less than £150 now with the 12t driver.

I've just got a new grind on my rim with some Batch B Heatsink's, and it seems to make both sorts of noises. Most of the time it's got the "Sshk sshk" sorta sound that you get from grinds, and it holds and modulates really well, but if I'm pushing it and I need it to lock it squeals like a pig but holds brutally nicely, so the jury's still out on what the 'correct sound' is...

Yeah, sidehops, backwheeling, etc. Started well getting into streety stuff like hopping to manual, etc. Works well for that too, 'specially with my new forks :- This is all on a T-Pro, btw - to give you an idea of how it ends up looking with that stem: Not a shit hot pic 'cos it was cold and wet, and I've cut the steerer down now too. Anyhoo, cosmetic things aside, it feels pretty nice. I'm sorta tempted to get a slightly lower stem for more UCI/compy stuff, but to be fair, it's doing me OK now really, and I think I'm just hankering for spangly new stuff :) Either way, it certainly made my bike feel nice. To quote someone who rode it compared to their standard T-Pro: "I haven't lifted it up, but the whole setup just feels lighter." Said person rode it and said the front end felt way lighter and it felt more maneuvrable, but it actually turns out his front end was actually lighter, it's just the geo made mine feel better. However, that is also partly down to the forks too. He is planning on buying the same bar and stem too though... Mark. P.S. Re: the "will it be better for a shorter rider" - I've honestly got no idea. I'm 6'2" though, so I can't really tell you, but most of the physical theories put about on the forum about "You should have a high front for _______ and a low front for ______" seem to be pretty much wrong anyway. It's all down to feel, so you can't group everything in the same way. It's only £22, so I guess it's worth a shot?

That is a really nice site. It'd be cool to get some pics of the lever too, 'cos I'm half-way interested. Always liked the feel of the RB lever, but never the price tag... Anyway, the site is one of the best I've seen, so yeah, good work :):-

Stone from what I've heard, but metal's worked pretty well for me.
-
I'm using one with my Pazzaz risers, and it's just right for me. I've started riding streetier stuff now though, so if you ride compy style it might suck balls.

Er, well, the whole "What's trials?" thread's been done to death elsewhere, and seeing as this is a News topic about Gilles Coustellier moving to Koxx I think it's served it's purpose...

I dunno, I wouldn't say it was a Mongish (word up) setup that made Bigman crack his?

But hold on, that's assuming Chav 2 didn't start on Chav 1 for speaking to him funny...

Only me riding trials here for 6 months, and I'm still riding you big quitter :P Either way, pics to assess damage and wear would be useful :P

Got to agree with Ben about the "Naturally Firth" video. I just didn't really see the point in it? It didn't really stand-out as a section, and it just didn't really fit at all well with the rest of the video. It was the only one that seemed to get a bit repetitive? Either way, just 'cos Ben doesn't like a video doesn't mean that there have to be posts about how shit it is? And Dahnhilla, if you're going to be a tit about what Ben said with regards the "daahnsindrome" thing, I've got to say that you using "Gay" in an offensive way really upset me and I think I might top myself... Mark.

The Holocaust was a shitty deal, but getting anal retentive over things like this is pointless. I think they should look at the history of the reporter and see if he's done any Holocaust Activist stuff or not, just to prove that this is just him thinking "A-ha, can get Kenny L in the shit here". Either way, the world kept turning. Mark.
