  1. Or, you can leave it like mine and just have the allen key bolts sticking out. They're easy enough to turn by hand, so it's not like it's a mission to adjust them afterwards either. The pics are down, but seriously, it's easy enough to do without them. Undo lever blade bolt. Take lever out. Strip it down (it'll be obvious once you're doing it, but I can't remember off the top of my head :">), but remember how you took it apart so you can reassemble it. Where the TPA bolt sticks out, you should have the sheared part remaining inside the little square metal bit. Again, when you're doing it you'll see what I mean more easily than just reading this. Get that out, and replace with the M5 bolt, then rebuild. Job's a good un. It's a shit pic, but you can kinda see what mine look like now. That's just my front Magura with a fairly short bolt sticking out of it; Again - sorry for the crappy pic, but I was taking a picture of the grips not the lever :(
  2. The thing is though is that most companies who are selling trials products have them made in the far East, so it's not like there's any special reason we should be following the American's lead anyway, is there? If the product is made there, then shipped in to a distro then to retaillers - so for Echo stuff for example, it's going to cost them differing amounts to send it to retaillers, which I guess gets tagged onto the price tag. Still, the fact that £ is worth almost $2, yet it costs the same amount in £'s and $'s sucks. At least we can live safe in the knowledge that should any Americans want to buy Curtis, Leeson or Pashley stuff they're gonna get raped price-wise. Not all that comforting though...
  3. Just check out the Pad Review thread in Trials Chat, and say 'hello' to a whole world of problems with people not knowing what's good and what's bad  The thing is is that it's easy enough for people to just ask on here about what's good/bad and do a search for it than go to another site which has only got static reviews (i.e. you can't ask the author a specific point like you can on here), so it's just not going to be as versatile enough, I'd have thought. Plus the reviews might be shonky just 'cos as Danny said there are too many factors to take into account. Someone might say some forks were flexy because they had a knackered stem/headset/steerer, but not know it and so attribute it to forks or whatever. Shitty example, but people are seriously sketchy when it comes to reviewing products. Not to mention the fact most people won't be arsed to actually write a decent, useful review?
  4. Seeing as you're in contact with Mart more regularly than us/might know anyway, are they redesigning the Edd Tongue frame so it's stronger, or is Edd jumping to Leeson?
  5. Not to drop him in the shit, but I got told by someone at Onza that it would void the warranty potentially, but it wouldn't necessarily harm your chances of the half-price crash replacement because that's just done on goodwill anyway (think - P-X's "have a free one" thing; was just good will), so if it is painted it might not matter?
  6. My Eno skipped once. I only knew 'cos it went "BANG". Because it's got anothe engagement point every 5°, you just go straight to the next one so you don't really notice it at all. I only failed to make the gap 'cos I thought "Shit my dish, what was that?" and kinda aborted it. But if I'd have particularly been bloody-minded about it, I could've made the gap anyway. So yeah, even if it should skip you're sorted.
  7. Haha, nicest put-down I've had about my bike  Better than Corish's "you bikes shite nad so are you t-poooooooooo with blue forks" Nah, with a blue Magura on the back it might look half-way presentable :"> Either way, on topic - Maxxis; yay! Speaking of, my front Maxxis tyre's about to explode through the sidewall in a pretty dramatic way too, which is poop. Anyone know if the front Creepy Crawlers are as good as the rear for general usage?
  8. Not really :) That'd be like making effort :D Plus the only things I could colour code would be my Maguras, and I can't be arsed with that. Although new Maguras would be good... Shit, here we go again  I think it's new stem time soon maybe, but to be fair, it's mostly working OK now. But in the last month I've spend about double what I've spent on my bike in the last 4 months before it :P It's treating me well now though :o Letting me do decent sized gaps and stuff now without trying to make itself kill me by skipping or snapping... EDIT: Pics  The big grey balloon itself. Almost colour co-ordinated anyway, you b*****d...
  9. I got my Creepy Crawler rear tyre from SuperCycles today (would've got the pair, but couldn't afford it...). I got the minx on and at first wasn't super impressed. Then I let some air out and went riding. Shit. Me. They're amazingly grippy. Not in the "slow you down when you're pedalling" way some people seemed to have experienced here, but when you gap or whatever it's just... it's hard to explain, but it just feels like it's "There". It really does feel properly good. Gapping to stuff and landing a bit low and it just staying there is well reassuring. Feels like the first time I got decent Magura pads and I didn't have to ride as well 'cos they just held  I really recommend these tyres. They're properly amazing, and I'm definitely going to get another set... Mark.
  10. Hadn't though of that, I see where you're coming from now. Because it gets pulled up quite near to the chainstay though, it might not be *so* bad? Either way, I'll check out how my friend's bodge like that is going and let y'all know. It basically ends up like being a Forge tensioner, but actually good
  11. If you want it so it takes up some chain slack, there is another way... Break the chain and take it out of the mech. Then, thread it through so it goes UNDERNEATH the top jockey wheel, whereas before it went over it. You can then run it straight from that jockey wheel to the chainring, so it'll mean that because of the natural movement of the derailleur it'll keep pulling the chain tight. You can then cut down the excess (the bottom half) of the mech and Bob's your uncle... Mark.
  12. Yeah, but they don't use screw-on freewheels up front  Plus, like I said, you'd have to have a custom made rear hub. Getting a bit silly then, but yeah, like you said, this thread's run it's course.
  13. The Onza thread sizes are different on each side though, so it'd be tricky to get hold of the correct sized rear sprocket, basically, which was why I was thinking it might be a whore to actually every achieve it. Also, because it'd be on the left you'd be naturally un-screwing the freewheel every time you pedalled, because the left-side threads are made to be used on the right hand side (you flip the wheel round so you can run BMX-style micro-drive), so it'd undo. Plus, from experience of having to use an mtb r-side crank (with spider) on the left hand side when I was poor and raped my own crank, pedals really do like to undo themselves \
  14. I don't own a single item of Fox clothing/apparel, which makes me feel well left out when I go to the Bike Show and everyone's there in their technique jerseys
  15. Hey Ol, What's it ride like? Is it better for some stuff and worse for others or just generally different? Cheers for the Viz stem pics too, Nick. I'm still going to sue you though  Mark.
  16. Good luck finding a Profile for £110? Don't forget the £20 for the wheel build, maybe as well if the old wheel needs stripping too. Oh, and the 18t fixed sprocket up front. That's another £20-ish too... so yeah, it almost always ends up in £200-ish territory to Profile up your bike, which is why I went for the Eno, basically. £70 is much nicer sounding than £200-ish...
  17. As far as I know, the only literature you get with it is a little bit of paper with how to strip the minx down. First of all, two questions - do you have the trials freewheel? Secondly, which part is loose?
  18. Jeez, that does look like a manly front end even if it IS only the angle the pic was taken at... At £249, pitches it squarely at Onza T-Rex territory. Intriguing  Kudos to Martyn for producing the Justice at a properly reduced cost though.
  19. A-ha, I getcha. I'm guessing my source might've measured it along the actual stem itself then...
  20. OK, I guess I'll have to let you off then ;) Just out of curiosity, are your measurements for the Echo Team stem accurate? I've read on another site a totally different set of mm's?
  21. I know there's that guy there who's got two chainrings on the same side with chains running from to two same-sized sprockets at the back? Rides a Giant? Or are you thinking of someone else :">
