That doesn't sound so good :ermm: Does the Team have more clearance? I'll be running Creepy Crawlers either way and they come pretty much bald, so hopefully the Control will be OK...
-
Cheers Mike :ermm: That's cool about the Control; I hate fagging about cutting down bolts 'n' stuff, so I might just go for the Control not the team. Plus it won't look gay 'cos it covers all the mounts not just the top 2 bolts :o I was thinking it'd probably be fine seeing as it's a 12mm thick I-beam; you'd have to pretty much TRY to make that shit... You know the way it 'protects the cross-over' - is that a recessed bit again for the cross-over to slot into, or is it just that it's a well burly booster and covers it in general?
-
Cheers Jay, I'm guessing it's a Control booster then?
-
'lo all, Just wondering - has anyone tried the Control or Team boosters? I've actually bent my RB booster back so far that it's almost pushing the cross-over down (2 years of me sitting on it slightly when I sit down'll do that to a booster :">), and so I was going to get a new booster at Bike'05. However, which is best? I'm running 4-bolt so I'm tempted just to be done with it and get the Control booster, but what sort of length bolts would I need? It's 12mm thick which is considerably more than my RB (I think? The RB could only be about 5-7mm thick at most?), so would I need long bolts or is the booster recessed near the bolt holes? Do you get bolts with it? And lastly, is it actually any good? :ermm: Thanks for any help, Mark.

But what about budgets, and of DiamondBack in general? It could be about perks too. Who knows.
-
Mongoose should be able to produce frames for cheaper than the majority of "rider owned" trials companies just 'cos of their larger budgets, and their contacts and so on in the industry. So I guess maybe it's the same as how Jamie Bestwick made a cheap signature bike so that more people could afford to buy it? Either that or he's just getting a better deal with Mongoose, which I'm guessing might be the same reason Hawziee's on DB?

If Chris Ratcliff only taught us one thing, it was that if you are standing on a bike (i.e. on the pedals ) and fall sideways and hit your head, you have enough kinetic energy to knock yourself silly and die. Now add in the whole "hopping around" element and it's getting dicey.
-
It's not that, it's just that Luke's post was dick. Anyway, yeah, black Echo - nice apart from the stickers. What about some smaller, sans serif custom ones?
-
True, but for a company having no trials experience it might be a bit tricky, but we'll see I guess.

I'd bet, assuming I actually gave a shit? Unfortunately, I don't so I won't. Equally, it may have been "in the works" for a while, but he was in the latest Ashton ad as being a team rider, still apparently rides for AVC, etc., so I'm guessing it's not going to have been too long. It took Onza 8 versions or so to get the Woodstock to their liking, so I just meant that it'd be pretty unlikely he'd be having a decent frame to ride in under 2 months or whatever. But then again, you got the e-mail which of course means ultimate power.

You sure are, sexy. I haven't ordered my ticket yet, but Matt's sorted his as has Billiam. Who else is in the car?
-
Well, unless they can knock up a proto bike in two weeks, I'm guessing it'll be a de-stickered standard production frame from another company? That is assuming this isn't a load of crap...

He posted his opinion, just saying that he disagreed with you in the same way you just said you disagreed with him? He didn't say anything about changing your mind or whatever, so what the hell are you whinging about?

I saw that snapped one on OTN. That's gotta be gutting after spending a katrillion dollars on one...
-
Could always get a lot of clear Magura hosing, mix some food colouring (green, obviously (Y)) into the DI water we all know you should be using, then put that in it :)

It was just one video part, so I wouldn't bother changing your opinion based on that... Had an interesting 'talk' with some MTBer from here a couple of days ago about whether BMX street was better than MTB street. For some weird, weird reason he refused to acknowledge that MTB street is utterly shite (Y) He just thought MTB street was way better than BMX 'cos they go bigger, apparently, even though they don't, despite having suspension, etc. The trails stuff isn't particularly special in itself, but I didn't think the DVD was tooooooooo bad. Was interesting anyway. To each their own I guess. Mark.

http://www.churchofsatan.com/home.html Jon, Jon, Jon. Direct your raging fury at that piece o' shite - the "official" Satanist website. *makes the biggest "wanker" sign he can at the people who made that site*

If this was OTN, someone would have already buzzed in with: "Pwnd"

It's been MacQuiet (geddit?) since you were deleted from my contact list though :o So you can pin this all on Mr. Dan and Mr. Nic...

Been busy. Art exam, plus riding for 6 hours straight tonight, then get home, bleed new Magura, put on bike, find hole in the hose, cry, get in here to see if the £100 has got to Travistrials, turns out it has, but I hadn't put enough postage on it, felt like a dick (no doubt that'll be quoted and edited to "Felt a dick"), came on here, saw that pic, thought "He's got clothes on, shock shock shock", posted, got up, went and got sticky toffee pudding Mr. Kipling cake bar, unwrapped it, felt tired, waiting for your reply :o

Holy f**k, Jon Mac in "Not naked" self-portrait shocker...

That was the non heat-treated one, I think. I think my...second T-Bone was the heaviest out of them all. By "heavy", we're talking 27lbs. I even rode a f**king comp on that bike, then it snapped 2 days later. Gutted. Anyhoo, that one was the triple butted rear triangle jobby with I *think* straight gauge tubing front triangle. But yeah, I broke all three at the headtube that I had, Olly broke his original one, then the non-heat-treated version of my frame. I think it lasted like one ride with him :o Either way, get Steve-A's videos from a while back. Street on a mod. If you just try it, it really isn't that difficult to do, it's just a matter of perspective. Since starting BMXing I've been doing more streety stuff on my mod, and it's pretty straight-forward as long as you approach it in the right mindset, really. Least that's how I found it. Mark.

Tears don't count, Dan. I thought we'd gone over this? They're Emo, so they're just looking for reasons to cry. Don't fuel their fire, Mr. Dan.

Just make sure you think about your future too though. Think about it more long term too, as in what career prospects there'd be (working your way up from just doing one-off jobs for your Dad/friends to working as a mechanic in a garage to working your way up the promotion ladder to being manager and so on). Make sure it's definitely what you want to go into and it'll be fine. Talk to your Dad about it if you haven't already. I'm sort of in the same boat. I want to do a music degree at university, but because it's so specialized it might not mean anything to a lot of employers, but it might help me further along the line if I pursue becoming a music/bass tutor or something like that. It'll also give me a shitload of experience of playing, playing live and all that stuff, so in many ways it's similar to what will happen if you do the course. You'll gain a lot of knowledge about cars and related stuff in general, which can only be good if it's something you want to do later on in life. If you're undecided, you could do the A-levels/etc. route just to give yourself a bit of a fall-back option, although most employers would be happy enough with a college course; the need for a qualification specific to your job isn't so important any more, unless it's for an uber specialized field. For example, people who do degrees can get certain jobs just 'cos a lot of people say the applicant must have completed a degree. It just means to employers that you're willing to stick with whatever course you're doing, and that you've got a level of aptitude of reading/writing/arithmetic and so on. It'll be the same if you do a college course; they'll know you're reliable 'cos you stuck with the course, and so on. Just talk to people about it, check out college guide books/prospectus'ss's'ss's's's'ss. If you speak to the college, you could always sit in on a lesson and check it out and see if it's what you're looking for. I'm guessing that it's not all going to be fun and games and that there'll probably be some not-so-fun theory side of things as opposed to just purely practical, so bear in mind it won't all be a bed of roses. Try and get a realistic idea of what the course will entail. Mark. EDIT: Didn't see Koxxy's post, was writing this. Basically: What he said (Y)

A friend of mine from school was looking at doing this course. He checked out the course and it's requirements/curriculum at the various colleges near to us, but in the end decided he wanted to go for a slightly broader qualification so just stuck on to do sixth form at our school. Basically, if you KNOW you want to do a job related to it then it's obviously a good idea. A vocational course like that will mean more to employers than "I've got _ _ _ _ at A-level" or Baccalaureate or whatever, simply because they'll know you're up to a certain ability/standard. It gives them a clearer idea, so simply you'll be more employable. If you aren't 100% sure, you could always just do the standard A-levels/Bac. route. From what he said of what he saw at the course though, if you're interested in it it'd be properly good.
