  1. Think about it though - you've got flex from the stays, rim, pads and hosing itself which should have enough give in it to stop that from ever happening.
  2. How would you hold the wheel though, 'cos there'd be shards of metal flying off it at a katrillion miles an hour? If you're careful when you grind in the 'usual' way, it'll be pretty consistent, and it'll wear down so it'll be uniform anyway?
  3. I don't really get how they're similar to the T-Mag?
  4. That post was confusing as f**k, but the "hydraulic lock" thing is what makes your brakes work. If it compressed, you'd be f**ked. The "solid" lever feel could just be that it's a good bleed as well? The only potential problem could be water corroding the seals or something, but it should be diamond.
  5. Haven't seen any Koxx bashing going on? Apart from about prices, but that's something aaaaaaaaaaaaaltogether different. That Levelboss frame looks kinda nice like that, but it seems a bit sketch putting a whole load of force into the middle of the downtube? Meh, they know better than I do...
  6. Gonna close this, seeing as it's well out of hand. Yes, people didn't turn up. People who could've done also chose not to for other reasons. It was a case of poor timing, but I can see why you were pressed for time, really, if you wanted to put one on so soon. Anyway, yeah. Personally grievances over MSN/PM's, not in threads on the forum. Thanks for organising them anyway.

    Appeal Bands

Yeah, but you could've bought it directly from the Lance Armstrong Foundation or one of their distributors and then ALL the money that could've gone to charity would've done. Assuming you wanted a Livestrong one - but it applies for any of the other ones.

Wow, you could almost call them fakes (Y)

From the ammount of fake ones they've sold, they can probably afford to buy some.
  10. No joke - this man speaketh the truth. I've got a pair of CRM's up front with a dead grind, and it's stupid how well they hold. When you just gently roll the bike back and forward, and squeeze the brake, you can hear the "shumpy" sorta sticky sound they made. It's crazy. They really are super good pads. Only problem seems to be reliability; Jon sent me the current pads I'm using plus 6 other ones that aren't in backings any more, due to them coming apart. Still, if I find a bank I can rob, I might buy a new set for the front. They worked super well in the wet too, which was surprising for me given the amount of criticism they received over their wet weather performance. It's still 'sink Batch Bs or X-Hydras on the back for me though. (This is all on mod, with Alex/Onza rims and now a Megamo rim on the rear)

Theoretically, it means that bullies will think "Shit the bed, there's loads of people wearing blue bands. We'd better repent and change our ways." Actually, it means that bullies will think "Shit the bed, there's loads of people wearing blue bands. I want one." The blue and pink Livestrong bands are fake, btw. They should only be yellow; there was a batch of 6,000 fake bands made...
  12. Well, the spray job looks like a helmet that came straight off the production line (that means good, basically ), so that's cool. Don't the pink squares make it a whore to adjust the strap length? I was tempted to maybe spray my Xen, but if I break it I'd like to send it back to Giro, and I think a lot of companies get stressy if you paint your helmet 'cos some paints can rape the outer shells?
  13. Hmm. I wouldn't say that necessarily. The lever feel between a well bled Hs33 with water and another one with oil is pretty starkly different. I was a blood afficianado for ages, but then I tried water and it does feel soooooo much nicer. The lever action is just a lot snappier and more responsive, which royal blood simply can't compete with due to their different viscosities, basically. I got a Magura from Nic and changed it straight away 'cos I couldn't be bothered waiting for that to happen to mine...
  14. It means dick all now, but having seen that video I wish I'd have gone. The only problem for me is that I run our local bike shop on my own on Saturdays, so I can't really get time off. I'd already booked a weekend off for the BikeShow, so I couldn't really have two in a row. The main thing for me is that I'm shit, really, so I didn't really want to have to go and ride in a 'comp' against other riders. If I could've gone, I'd definitely have made it up for the Saturday - assuming I could actually get transport up there - 'cos it looked like a rocking course, but as it goes it just didn't happen. I suppose the timing was bad, but yeah, try and sort stuff out with your girlfriend I guess. The thing is is that this event was always going to look bad relative to the last one, just 'cos the last one went off so well. You had a shitload of riders there, and it was going to be a tough act to follow. My band played a freaking blinding set at a gig a while back, and it was super cool. Everyone was up for it and stuff. The next weekend we played in a different town, and we played to the same standard but it just didn't feel as nice 'cos the crowd was smaller and it was just that we all had fresh memories of the awesome gig before. It's a similar thing to this I'm guessing - the first was ultra good, and the second was still good but not quite as big as the first. Don't let it put you off though. It seems sketchy that your girlfriend's a bit arsey about it, but I guess none of us have a full idea of how much time you put into this behind-the-scenes and how it would affect other people. It's sketchy that people who could've gone there easily didn't, but that's life/people I suppose. Make the most of this event; learn from it and it'll have served it's purpose, really. Take the good points, and apply them to the next one (if you do one, which you really should ). Just remember to bear in mind it's the start of the comp season, and people will be having exams soon so possibly won't want to be going across the country to a comp, and it should be cool. If you think about what happened when it was Technique Vs. NASS last year, some people will ride natural comps, but some people will always dig the more 'street' events, so you'll probably still be fine in high season for the comps, really. Thanks for putting it on anyway, Mark
  15. IP blocking might be sketchy just 'cos of the fact that for one of the IP's I checked a while back, there was about 20 people on the same IP, all very different people just 'cos of the way the system's set up now. Can certainly ban the bejesus out of people though  People can make 'fresh starts' if they want, but that doesn't change the fact that they still have a history on here. It's possible to find all of modMODmod's posts and you can easily see that although pogonation seems cool now (a mistake I made), he has actually been a full-scale sheister in the past. So yeah, if anyone tries this in the future go ahead and make it public. If it's someone who's done nothing really wrong but just started a new account you don't really need to go nuts over it, but it was sorta right to bring it to everyone's attention in this case... Mark.
  16. I really wish I'd gone now; the only problem for me was that I could only make it down for the Sunday (and that was assuming I'd somehow found transport...), and I didn't really want to go there and straight away ride a comp... But yeah, cool vid  Seemed to show everything pretty well, so kudos to you. Mark
  17. Either that or wait like a week/week and a half, just to let it go a bit. If you explain to the police that you're worried for your safety, they'll probably either put you on a witness relocation program in Las Vegas, or they'll just not tell him how they found out. Think about it - if he got worried about there being no insurance on the car, he's obviously worried someone might find out in general. It's late and I can't think of how to word it properly, but basically, he knows it's a liability, so he's surely going to be "concerned" that the police might find out. I know you're worried about him doing something to you, but the police do random checks on suspicious cars all the time - maybe it might've happened to him (After your phonecall ). Who knows. If that guy asks, you certainly don't (Y) Mark.
  18. /\ Plus it just feels nicer for my style of riding, I guess...

That's such a load of bollocks it could probably produce sperm.

Has there actually been any change to the frame? Or are they just ordering smaller batches or what? Seems sketchy

    Yaabaa Frame

The stock does look sketchy, but I really like the mod. I like how everyone says "Boring long low and silver bikes", then we get summat different and they complain about it  Ah well, it'll be interesting so long as the frames aren't shit, really. Paint can cover over crappy paintjobs, but it can't cover over bad geometry/weak frames (<- unless it's a hella thick coat).
  23. (I know it's a backwheel in the pics, but the basic start technique that I use is the same for both) You wanna be rolling along at a speed appropriate for the size of wall (although mine's almost always ultra slow then a sudden burst when I pedal...). You want your bad foot forwards, cranks level. As you start to pedal round, you want to scrunch yourself down (see pics 3/4). As the pedals get to the vertical position, you want to be jumping up with your body and legs, whilst still continuing the pedal-stroke. As you complete the half-pedalstroke, you want to throw the bike up and forwards with your arms and legs (see the last two lines of pics). However, when you want to sorta place the front wheel on top of it, giving a bit more heft to roll the front end on top, whilst scrunching up your legs to keep the back raised. You want to try and conserve momentum, so it'll be easier to do. So yeah, that sorta thing. Just go at it and be confident, basically. As long as you make sure you clear the front, not much can realistically go wrong (short of your bike breaking).
  24. I was thinking of Koxx/Try-All, but do they take a grind well/not die immediately?
