  1. Was the same for me  First comp was piece o' piss, 'cos it was supposed to be wet so the sections were layed out so they were less tech and more flowy, which was useful for me. Next comp was way more tech, and you just learn stuff there and then pretty quickly. I've only got 4 rocks here to practise on, so it's not like I've got a huge training area or anything, but you just pick up the skills you need riding around, basically. The only thing that pisses me off with comps is a load of the pure compy riders who've just got no style or decent technique at all. They just don't roll anything; jus doing the "lock the brakes and hop the bike" approach at everything. Just kinda irks me for some reason.
  2. It's all good. Until you start doing some of the Expert sections or Elite, there's nothing scary in the sections at all, it's just technical. You've got nothing to worry about  Just go for it :P If you don't want to do something, just accept the 5, but you can at least give it a go! Mark
  3. I just don't really see what that adds to the posts or anything though  I mean the one of the guy flippin' the bird's just not really saying anything, is it? It's just a picture for the sake of a picture... Meh, probably just don't get it (Y)\
  4. D'you mean you're stocking them or are you buying one for yourself? I'm guessing the former?
  5. Hey Steve, Measured 'em 'cos my camera's out of battery. ACS Claw freewheel body: 15mm ACS Claw extractor tabs: 2mm Eno freewheel body: 16mm Eno tabs: 1mm So yeah, almost exactly the same (Y) Mark P.S. The Eno seemed to fit in better...
  6. If you're going to go ride Newtown or somewhere, if you want someone else to tag along PM me (seeing as you can now :P) and let me know :)
  7. How old are you? 18 What made you join Trials-Forum? I wanted to find other people to ride with and learn stuff about trials in general Are you, or have you been a member of another Internet forum? Which one? What made you join? Talkbass.com, as I needed to learn some theory How often do you use Internet forums? Every day Do you use forums specifically for getting answers to questions and discussing relevant topics, or do you use them to chat to friends as well (chit chat)? Both Have you found yourself sat in front of an Internet forum for more than an hour, sifting through posts just to keep yourself entertained? Yes Have you ever had an internet forum as a homepage? No As a member of an Internet forum, do you feel like you belong to some sort of community? In a way, I suppose Define the word community in your own words A group of people with a shared interest Do you feel you are a part of a community? (not trials forum) Yeah And either a Mod's been abusing the "hidden edit" feature or it's a weird uni :P
  8. Trials for me :) 72-lovely-engagement-points.com :) The Orbitas are basically longer Muscleman cranks, and I used the MM's, so yeah, somebody did! I guess the difference could just be between the splined and square taper cranks, really. 'cos with my new Tensiles (:P), the BB's a 68x127.5, so it's got those big kinda spacer bits on the spindle to stop the cranks going in further; this means you theoretically can't OVERtighten it like you can with square taper cranks, so it'll always be in the right place, theoretically. I'll get the pics tonight :P Mark
  9. Nah, it's thinner than the Claw? I'll take a pic tomorrow when it's not ultra dark and stormy outside, but yeah, I couldn't fit an unground Claw on my cranks, but I could comfortably fit an Eno... I wouldn't call it really wide though :P There is more than one model; Eno Trials and Eno Singlespeed.

  11. Newtown's only about half an hour from here, we go there often 'cos my Gran lives there. Have to take my bike again one of these days :P How old are you, by the way? Do you drive at all?
  12. Whereabouts in Mid Wales? I live in Llandrindod Wells in Powys, if that means anything to you? As for comps, the nearest is the Corris round of the Nationals (if they still go there), but apart from that it's pretty much just the YMSA comps (www.ymsa-biketrials.co.uk). Those are the ones I do, but they're almost all 100+ miles from where I live, which is a bit sucky sucky. Well worth going to though.

    .e

Well, they're the same company, but before ZOO! did the "copy" frames such as the Lynx, but now they're kinda doing their own thing. But either way, they each have a brand identity and so on, so it makes more sense just to keep them seperate. Plus, if someone didn't like one of them they still might buy from the other, and so they still make money, whereas if they were the same company they wouldn't get the revenue from that person. Or summat :P Mark
  14. It is his current one, but he's very rarely online. If you're desperate Jonny I could give you his mobile number or something :P

    Mod Bars

Onza Carbon risers get as many thumbs up as I could realistically fit on a page. They're super good bars; perfect feel, look great, nice sweep and rise, etc. Really recommend them :P Mark
  16. I thought it was just that it was hosted on bikeguernsey.net, and Jon took that down, so they've just got a generic domain hosting ad in there now, but Jon or Carl own the rights to the "FluffyBunnyMovement.co.uk" web-address?

    Elastomania

Where d'you get it from? I want it :P Can you use old levels and LGR's with it?
  18. NMC basically has all the forums of the "Members" boards all in one, meaning you've got Trials Chat, Chit Chat, For Sale (although not any more), Rides/Locations and to some extent News all in one forum, so theoretically it'll have 3-4x the amount of use, so it's not like it's surprising :P

    Elastomania

There's a new version? :P Is it any different to the old one?
  20. These gloves are the boys :( They're really nice; when I can be arsed to wear gloves, they're super comfy...
  21. Hey Steve, Sounds like the problem I had on my mod! Basically, the tapers had stretched to buggery on my Muscleman crank (same as the Orbita, but different length?), so the crank was sitting further in on the spindle, meaning I could only run a Dicta freewheel 'cos that was the thinnest available... The Eno is thinner than an ACS; the tabs are more slender (hmm, grammar), and it's just thinner altogether. It doesn't have the same big bit on the inside of the freewheel by the tabs that the ACS has, and well, it's just thinner :D There's just less to it, really. The pawls and ratchet part of the freewheel are pretty narrow, and the sealed bearings are also pretty narrow. Mark
  22. That pic's well old! The fact he's riding a T-Raptor with an Onza jersey kinda suggests that. It's an OK pic, I guess. I mean, I can appreciate that balancing on a rock above a drop like that must be scary, but... I don't know, the picture as a whole didn't really do it for me. Kudos to him though... That backwards handrail thing was a bit mental too :(\
