Hmm. Funny though the MLP are, it'd be worrying if they came into power... Anyway, I think I'm going down the "Would never vote for Conservatives 'cos I can't stand them/Michael Howard; wouldn't vote Lib Dem 'cos I don't really think they could run the country too well; wouldn't vote Green 'cos I don't really like 'em" leaving only Labour :P To be fair, from where I am, the world hasn't gotten noticeably worse in the last 4-5 years. If you don't bother reading the tabloid headlines of how you're never more than 1.5 inches away from an AID's carrying, illegal immigrant worker who's stealing YOUR job, YOUR house, YOUR wife and YOUR car, it hasn't really gotten a lot worse in fairness. As someone once said "The main thing people want to have happen is for tomorrow to be pretty much like today." I just want to live and not have to worry about peripheral shit, which is pretty much why we have a government. I don't really think the alleged rise in 'violent crime' is their fault - there are simply more chav scum around now, so it's inevitable. Anyhoo, yeah, when I just thought of it like that, I think I might go Labour. Then you get the fun of "Blair or Brown?" Choices choices :D Mark

Yeah, 175's rule the roost as far as I'm concerned. They're so nice for power moves and for upping. 'cos of the way the gear feels spinnier, you take off later so tapping's more consistent in a less 'scary' way. They're soooo nice :D Mark

I'm running 175 Tensiles on my T-Pro :D"
-
Hey Will, did you grind down the outer bit at all? Looks weird in that pic :D

I spotted that "Stock Proto 2" frame on there earlier when I got home from school, but I hadn't super thoroughly checked out the site when I was directed to the mod proto, so I thought it was probably old news :D But yeah, that stock colour looks a bit gash. I think with proto's it might be a better idea to do it more of a neutral colour just to get a better idea of the construction of the bike, but meh, probably why I'm not running a successful trials company :P Mark

Lewis@Poyntontrials.com on here managed to snap his set of 'burns, and from what I can tell he never got to pull any proper big stuff on them (although I might be wrong about that). It's pretty random as to when they fail, really, but I know Middleburns have snapped in under a year before. Middleburns aren't an option for the majority of riders on here using Tensiles as front freewheel cranks, so your "Buy middleburns" thing is kinda wasted breathe? Mark

Well, sort of. I just meant that if he'd suggested it they could've taken it into consideration...
-
Nah dude, you might as well give it a go :P Seeing as you're not going to be running it/setting up sections/observing/organising it, you can just turn up their, chill out a bit, ride the sections, keep a low profile, ignore any potential knobheads and just have a decent day out. I'd love to go to the YMSA comp 'cos there's a lot of people I know going there to ride who I'd like to meet, but no transport means I'm raped. But anyway, you should just go there. It'll be cool :P Mark

Because Adam has helped Onza a lot with the development and ideas for their frames and products? Similar to how up until recently he was riding a prototype geometry'd T-Rex variant?
-
Veritas Team Trials Bikes I'm guessing it's so his new party can get some support from the younger generation. Or perhaps not :P
-
Pretty much, yeah... I mean if you saw the vid on here before of Dave Mirra learning triple tailwhips, that was just attempt after attempt after attempt, presumably after a lot of foam-pit action. I'm guessing this was done the same way; took him a fair few goes to get it if you watch the full vid avec his front flip.

No, sorry. Megamo sorta went under a while back, so you'll have to look for one second hand unfortunately... That's Ben Savage :( Looking cool (Y)

Could use the Pashley Fortress (Kye Forte's former signature frame) frame method of chain tension I guess? Thereby negating the big gap between the seat- and chain-stay? Or is that a desireable thing to have? Mark
-
Well... I recently went from 158mm cranks on my T-Pro to 175mm cranks. I retained the 18:12 (or 1.5 rotations of the back wheel per crank revolution) gear ratio, but because I made the crank arm longer, I can get the power more easily, as it were. This is just 'cos of the whole leverage principles and all that jazz - similar to how pushing a door from the outer edge is easier than by the hinges. It's made riding a lot nicer now; it's really easy to do powermoves, backwheeling's a bit nicer because I take off later due to the fact it feels spinnier, which makes it easier to tap. Your situation is going to be the other way round though, where if you keep 22:18 but reduce your crank length it'll feel harder to pedal. You'll either need to get some roadie-style legs to keep it feeling the same, or you'll just have to pedal harder/start your take-off sooner. If you change the ratio though, it'll basically be the same, but you'll need to use a smaller set o' rings, which should suit your "My Leeson will look nicer" needs, if the Middleburn thread was your's? Mark

Well, you need to check the site and see the other pics. You can run a 113mm length BB, which'll be stiffer, and the chain tensioners are totally different to usual. Stuff like that (Y) Just a prototype, fair play to 'em for trying something different :( Mark

Like I said, I'm almost certain that that threaded part has a smaller outer diameter than the inner of a fixed cog, plus I doubt you could fit the cog on there in terms of width, and it'd be well to the side resulting in shit chainline.
-
To Nick - the thread the lockring screws onto on the RS7 crank arms looks to be smaller in diameter than the freewheel threads, if you look at this pic: Equally, good luck screwing a freewheel onto 2mm of thread, if that's what you were hinting at
-
They're squared tapered, aren't they? Are you running square now? Anyhoo, they don't look too bad. I was half-way tempted before I snaffled up some cheap Tensiles from Andyroo (good luck with the marriage!). Having spoken to Tart, he advised me just to go straight for the Tensiles if I could afford them, but if I was going to buy new and didn't want to spend much, I wouldn't have a problem going for the Echo's. The only problem they had before was the freewheel threads stripping, but they've got a replaceable outer bit now so that should be sorted  Look pretty fly too... Mark
-
I'm pretty sure the majority of people who have the 'pleasure' of meeting the Butlers will disagree with that summing up of them. Equally, he was talking about their behaviour at the trial. Having seen them at one of the YMSA ones at Knabb last year, they kinda ruined the atmosphere, although they might've changed now, although from Waynio's post, perhaps not. Mark

With regards to converting Middleburn RS7s, I don't *really* see how it could be done. Because it's just got that splined interface where the various spiders sit on, there's virtually no way of getting a freewheel thread on there. The actual bit that sat on the splines would have to be pretty spindly so it could accomodate the internal diameter of the freewheel, plus it'd have to be 15mm deep so the freewheel would fit on. This'd mean there'd be quite a bit of it hanging over the edge, which would stop you being able to put the lockring onto the splined bit, assuming you managed to actually make a splined, threaded attachment for a freewheel. Anyway, like I said, it was always more that you could fit a spider onto the Onza 3-pieces that had freewheel threads as opposed to the other way round. Might be out of luck, sorry. What about ZOO! or Bonz cranks? Mark
-
Not anymore, the Styx has a 100mm (in imperial, that's about 4 miles) wide BB shell. Anyway, I stand corrected
-
To quote the man himself. If you're riding purely to make other companies (your sponsors) happy, then I guess it works. In mag ads, it's just the air that's shown, so if that looks good I guess from that pov it doesn't matter if you mess up. So yeah, there we go. One of the reasons Mr. Bender's always been a twat in my opinion...
-
I don't see why they wouldn't, assuming you had a long enough BB? I mean, mine fit on my mod and I've got but alu stays and tyre clearance for a 2.5" wide tyre  I thought it was more changing freewheel threaded cranks to having a spider, as opposed to vice versa?

Basically: YMSA = just YMSA membership, see their site for details -> http://www.ymsa-biketrials.co.uk For Tyketrials, either PM Waynio for details and an entry form or go to their website. For nationals try www.biketrialsuk.co.uk (or .com?). For Essex bike trials comps try www.ebtc.co.uk or something along those lines...
