That's pretty damn foxy, in fairness. I'm guessing there will be the same drop-out-mounted chain tensioning system? Just that they weren't in place there? Any word on the geometry? (Y)

From the first 50% (I downloaded it, got to 99% (had 400kb to go (Y), and it froze, so I used a resumer after and kept checking back periodically at what I've got so far), it's just...well...nothing new, really. It 'didn't bring anything to the table'. Ah well... I think it's just I really want to see the Vincent riding street in Colorado vids now after seeing the teasers/short clips, so a same-old-same-old natural vid isn't really what I wanted... hopefully the last 50%'ll be better once it's downloaded...

They think we will though, which I guess is the problem... Market research would probably be a good idea for trials companies, but there we go. Lot more expensive than "Hi, is that Alexrims? Yes, I'd like 100 of your finest rims, thanks."

Have You Ever Downloaded Music Illegally?the Poll
Mark W replied to biketrialler's topic in Chit Chat
Does downloading a trials video which features unlicensed music count as illegal then? -
A half-link, like the Shadow Interlock's made out of. (Starts off wide like the female part, then narrows into the male part at the other end of it (Y)) Couple of pics: (Top of the 3-block pile to the rusty mount bit) Only got pics from there 'cos Matt didn't have much to ride there, so he filmed us and got a coupla pics. Rode the fountains at first, and within 10 minutes some policeman came up to us and took our details. He was pretty sound though, and considering I was on top of a wall I'd just backwheeled as he was walking up, it was pretty good of him to let us off...

I think tehy just need to totally overhaul the rule book. The majority of those rules must've been drawn up 10 years (or more?) ago, when bike design, riding styles, techniques and competitions - not to mention the level of riding - were drastically different. Do they still have that "Maximum bottom bracket height" rule as well? If so, Vinco, Hi-Fi et al are all technically illegal? If they decide on a comp by comp basis to "ignore" that rule, why not just take it out? For example, if you want to ride stock at a competition and you went by the rule book, you'd need 6 working gears, trials boots, long trousers (even if you wanted shorts, theoretically?), and all that sorta crap - it's just more hassle to add onto the license application forms, comp application forms and so on. The rules just need to be looked at, basically, so it's just up to the riders to ride what they want (within reason, obviously) how they want to. Limiting the development of bikes by over-bearing rules, and putting off potential riders due to the licenses and applications needed as well as all the other rules is just counter-productive. Saying that, I guess Mr. Pi knows people will still buy Monty product, and seeing as Monty seem to pretty much be the ones to dictate what happens regarding comps, I doubt it'll change for a while.

D'you mean like nailing 3 of them together with some supports to make a huge triangle or something? If so, try checking out some indoor motorbike trials videos (or some of the Spanish biketrials rounds) for some weird man-made obstacle ideas (Y)

Fair enough, it's just that it seems some posts from people who are sailing aboard the good ship Viz seem to be misleading people as to the parts they're representing, which isn't really on. Not to mention dicking around on the forum, with the whole posts mean prizes stuff.

In fairness, James was damn smooth at the Abingdon ride. His tapping, upping, gapping, and basically everything was pretty dialled. That drop was pretty hench, but there we go. Claiming a rim is, basically, a "natural" rim is a load of bollocks too. From the sketchy nature of natural, it's not really any smoother than street, if you actually look at the riding. Shit riders riding shit natural obviously looks less abusive, but for the majority of riders, it will put a lot of strain onto rims and wheels that standard, flat-edged street simply won't. So "natural only" is stupid, or any claim along those lines. As Tic said - how do you know how many wheelsets/bars/stems TRA's gone through? Same for Walker/Savage? They aren't likely to give you actual figures of how many parts they break, moreover giving you some 'sincere' "I have never ever broken one of these weak-ass rims" post. If they came on here and said - like MANY people have found on here about, say, X-Lite rims - "Yeah, they keep denting and cracking laughably easily", their sponsors are gonna go 'hold up, you're not representing our product particularly well?'. It's commercial suicide. Simply reiterating "TRA would not go through V!Z stuff" means shit when you don't know how much Try-All/Koxx product he goes through. It means shit all anyway, so I don't really get why you're using some abstract idea to defend "Viz" (or basically anyone else who uses that rim's) rims. In none of the other Viz sexing threads have any of the Ko army said ANYTHING about it being for - to quote you - "Light trials". Maybe in the scant info on the Viz site you might want to get them to include "FOR LIGHT TRIALS USE ONLY"? Seeing as we wouldn't want little johnny disappointed, would we? Or are you now going to retract that statement and try and worm your way out of this hole in some other way? This isn't directed at you alone, Chai, 'cos you seem OK, it's just that Dan has basically raped his reputation on here after the whole "Viz discounts for advertising" shit, and basically, for example: This sort of shit isn't really helping "back" the brand, is it? Crap like this doesn't convince anyone to go out and buy Viz product, or even consider it. If you're going to try and be some kind of evangelist ambassador for a product, not saying crap like this might be hugely beneficial to both you and the 'brand' you want to try and front for. A "Pimpest brake" isn't really hard to achieve. A grind and decent pads = wahey. However, the length of time the "Pimpest brake" lasts for is the crucial thing, and there's no point having a "pimpest brake" if the rims going to shit the bed in seconds. The problem people face with Try-All rims is that a grind lasts no time at all due to the softer material used. You can try and refute that the Viz rims are made from a different material, but we *all* know that's bullshit. Trying to say that Viz rims and most Viz products are some ground-breaking new idea is a load of crap, and you know it. They are purely rebranded parts that are pumped into the marketplace by a company that is purely in the market to make profit, not to benefit riders in any way at all (unless they think that 'helping out' riders is beneficial, perhaps). Anyway, I'm sleepy tired... James, I salute you. Anyway, Pulo seem to have a pretty major hand in the production of some frames, anyway, so I guess that's one name for the melting pot...
-
Nah, not any more. I believe Viz (or Plaz lookalikes anyway) pads, might be a grind but I can't remember... that was from the Deej ride at Abingdon recently, anyway. Being freakishly, savagely smooth probably helps his cause most :)
-
I dunno, I've always found pads flat to the rim works and feels pretty good?
-
I'd put money on savage grind, Koxx Bloxx, and a half decent setup?
-
If it's all new kit, you just need to let it bed in. I got horrific, wheel-stopping chainsuck when I boshed on a new chain, sprocket and freewheel - it just needs to mesh together. Just ride it for a bit. It'll feel shit, but after an hour or so it'll get a lot better... ...or rape itself :)

Up more from Newport, nearer Brecon.

Meh. Old. He's getting a new frame, we all wag our tails, the world goes on.

If a tree falls in the forest, and no-one's around, you could pull a sickie (Y)

Hey, Tickets booked, so I'm rail-roalled into going to Swansea tomorrow now (Y) If anyone wants to meet if they don't have school/exams/work, I'll be getting in at 12pm (ish), and riding 'til half 5.

Yes, because steel bikes are totally different to each other*? I guess companies *could* make shit frames that rode like dogs just because they'd look different, but wait! Long, low and silver seems to do it for a large portion of the trials world! They even do different length bikes for different riders (Y) But wait - they're made in Taiwan, so it must be bad... despite Taiwan having some of the best construction facilities in the world (oh, and children generally can't operate high tech CNC machines, or operate CAD programmes, and so on, so they can't really be used any more. Shit, another stereotypes been arse-raped...). However, incorrect though the company names may have been, it was still funny :) I remembered seeing a video of Vincent on that bike and thinking "G to the A-S-H", but it sorta looks OK in those pics... *Before you say any sentence with "Ghz" in it, that is the one exception, in the same way that aluminium bikes look different. Curtis' and Leeson are almost identical, save for - say - the Leeson 360 dropouts. Same difference in the way the XTP and Hi-Fi headtubes are different? Oh wait, that contradicts your arguement. Shit my dish, we can't be having that.

I went from an alu Onza mod to a steel Onza proto mod and then back onto an alu Onza mod. No real difference in ride characteristics, from what I could feel? Generally, if steel is made so the frame lasts it's gonna be nearly as stiff as alu anyway? Meh, just what I felt anyway...

Tomm speaketh the truth. I didn't really know how well I'd get on with some people at the DJ ride, but everyone was super cool (Y) I think it's just that some people come across as tits on the internet who just aren't, really...

When the water freezes, the water expands (as we know :P). This simply pushes the pads out :) It acts as though you were gently, slightly pulling the lever, in essence. When it thaws, they just slip back in. Simple as that :S Haven't needed a new bleed, although I redid the first one 'cos it was poop. I've been running it for ages now, I think... Since October or something ridiculous. If not longer...

What part of "Train only goes to Swansea-Shrewsbury" don't you understand? :P Nah, I'll be up with Hudson soon enough :- I wanna start travelling more, too. I used to be all shy and coy about going on group rides, but then I went to the DJ ride and basically, it seems that no matter what they're like on the net, all trials riders are f**king awesome. I just wanna go ride everywhere now, but can only go by train, so I'm kinda limited :) How South are you?
