  1. No, the tiny area of glass the fly hits is what takes the impact, therefore because it isn't 100% rigid, that particular area of glass bends back a little. Then, the shockwaves as it 'springs' back into place and a little too far forward (Because of the way it springs back it doesn't just go back to normal, obviously) mean that it's technically going faster than the train. So in answer to the question: Yes, a fly can stop a tiny, tiny amount of glass on the very front of the train (assuming it hits the window. Exchange "glass" for "metal" if you mean the other part), but not the actual train itself.
  2. A grind doesn't have to be super harsh for it to be 'good' though. I usually do pretty light grinds with mine and it's always OK. It's poop for the first 20 minutes or so, but I just pour some water on, scrub the brake, wait for the squeal then we're sorted, basically...
  3. If they're new pads, they'll need to bed in. If it's a new grind, it'll need to bed in. If neither has bedded in, it'll be shite. Simple as that...
  4. Does it have Cabestany on the front? No-one here did the first issue, then someone put up the first issue really late, and now almost every newsagent in town has it, which is a plus. Slinger's been riding a T-Pro for bloody ages. A pretty long time at any rate... That's about all I can help with :) I seem to remember Waynio saying he'd got the new LEvelboss, but I'm not 100% about that... Mark
  5. Note: No new linkage :"> Anyway, watched all of Trafaelio and You Get What You Get. Just thought people might be interested in a little review... Trafaelio. Trafaelio's got a pretty good line-up of riders from ultra fast and burly Peter Adam to the tech riding from Steven Hamilton. Nice sections from Dean Hearne and Sandy Carson too, and the editing on Ian Morris' section is pretty fly too. Of course, Corey Martinez' section is amazing too, but that and the Hamilton clips have already been put up in here, so you've probably all seen it. The "featured riders" of the DVD all have good parts, in fairness. The video itself doesn't really flow all that much as you watch it; there's no real cohesive element to it at all, meaning you can just jump in at any point I guess, but it would've been nice to have had a more flowing video. Anyway, riding's top notch, as is editing (even with questionable music at times). There's a whole other section too with another 7 or 8 riders from - I think - the flow team? People like Ben Jukes (amazing guy, looks pretty young, but does some really cool stuff, but has some savage stacks), Max Vincent (really, really good riding. Nice and flowing. Very 'park' though), and Jared Washington (nice brakeless street lines and so on, some good braked park stuff). These sections too are all well edited and are nice to just dip in and out of. Coupled to this, there's a shitload of extras. The Japan Tour video is well worth watching, with really varied riding from all the riders who were there, including some really interesting random riding on strange Japanese architecture. There's loads of other stuff in there too - just random clips mostly, but it's all good viewing. The "Flatcrap" section with Brian Tunney's pretty flowy too, which was nice to see. Has all the video trailers too for some reason :) There are also 5 or 6 photo galleries in there, and although there are some really good shots, the "click" of a camera shutter before each pic gets on your tits. This video's well worth watching though. I've had it since Saturday and have somehow watched all of it quite a few times, which sucks 'cos it means that it's all getting a bit repetitive, but that's my fault I suppose. Anyway, great video. You Get What You Get. YGWYG is the Terrible One DVD, for people who didn't know. This means it features some pretty underground riders, in a way - Taj Mihellic (sp.?), Joe Rich, Garrett Byrnes and so on. They're not underground in the "amateur" sense of the word, just that they're hugely good unsung riders. Anyway, the variety of styles of all the team members means there's good coverage of riding for all styles, 'cept maybe flatland. This DVD isn't like some other team DVD's which are just basically rider segments with some banging background music. This DVD follows the team's tour, checking out different parts of the world. This is part of the problem for some, it seems. Basically, it gets a bit hippy, in a way. Garrett does some audio commentary for a bit about how he loves travelling and all that jazz, and a lot of the footage is just looking at the scenery (be it the land/cityscape, road they're travelling on, the setting itself or just the people there) and all that sorta thing, which for me was fine but some might not like. It's not a bang-bang-bang trickfest, it's more of a slow burner which is why it's a refreshing change. The video's really good though, having said that. To quote my brother - "I can watch it before I ride and get all excited about riding, or I can watch it in the evening and just chill out." Depending on what you focus on, there's enough in the DVD to stoke your riding or travelling fires. It's just a good DVD, basically. It's definitely worth checking out, and watching to the end. Like I said, it's not non-stop riding, but the riding itself is really, really incredible. Worth buying too just to see Garrett Byrnes riding the weirdest bike in the world :P To give you an idea, he had to stop next to a tree to climb off... This is what I do when I don't want to have to revise for philosophy. But yeah, buy both DVD's :(

    Close.

Subtly edited so she'll feel better :)
  7. Again, doesn't look like they were made like that as an amazing design, more just for looks. Maybe I'm just a cynic though  Anyway, unless they're under £6.99, I'll still go for the Renthals eeeeeeeevery time...
  8. Are the Toxsin grips the same as all the other "company" grips, e.g. Viz, Try-All, etc.? I did try looking on the Toxsin UK website. http://www.toxsin.co.uk I'm pretty sure I could've blinfolded someone, tied them up, put them in a locked box, and left them in a darkened room with a computer with no keyboard or mouse and they could've designed a better website. Actually, 'designed' is taking it a bit far. "True Taiwan technologies developed from the underground." *stifles laugh* Mark EDIT: Google'd Toxsin Grips instead of just Toxsin, got linked to T-F, and found some pics in the gallery. Basically, they're just Ruffian/Renthal grips, with the mould on the piss.
  9. Hmm, that last justification is a little sketchy to me. Remember the 7lb P-X Pitbull Matt broke? The intensely heavy thick-tubed T-Bones I broke? etc. But either way, I suppose you're probably right...
  10. They certainly do, Mr. Tomm.

    Shit Day

If you remember from your other thread here Biff, the girl you said that to before didn't appreciate it, so using the exact same phrase is only going to lead to sad little T-F users.
  12. Eeeeeeeeeeer... Kinda hard to say by looking at the pic, but yeah, look to be the same. Try getting soft though, they've lasted over 2 months with no visible sign of wear, but are beautifully comfy. Oh, and this "no wear" is coming from Mr. "I wore to the plastic core of my Lock-On Ruffians in less than 3 weeks", who is also Mr. "I have the most abrasive hands in the world" Chicks dig 'em. Page 'n' pics for Grips: http://www.motoworldracing.com/Renthal-2005-ATV-Grips.html
  13. Cheers Andy. Something to take my mind off the 100% meaningless crap that seems to slew over this whole f**king forum. Been waiting for this one
  14. Found I had the same problem. I wanted thin grips which didn't tear the shit out of my hands, but actually lasted longer than 3 seconds. Off Road Only in town had some Renthal grips in, so I gave them ago. Two words: Freakin' Awesome. They're the best grips I've ever had. Pretty thin, but comfy (Ruffian-style diamond pattern), and are really soft but are lasting stupid well  Really don't get how they haven't torn yet... Anyway, they're the Renthal ATV grips (the Motox ones have a stupid right side one, but the ATV's have a thumb throttle so they're just grips, basically). Really worth getting  Not too sure where from, but offroadonly.com or something would probably work. Google will know (Y) Mark
  15. Again, Phil, I'm not having a dig or having a go at James or whatever. I was just using it as an example. The thing is is that it IS different is a sponsored rider is trying to direct people to their sponsor's shop. James saying "Yeah, Selectbikes have 7 Kit-Kats" is different to me saying it because he is, due to his sponsorship, effectively part of Selectbikes. I know it's all pedantic and stuff, but people do seem to try and blag more publicity for their sponsors. This is kinda to be expected I suppose, but what I'm getting at is that the rules are to try and stop this sort of thing happening, so there's more unbiased views on the forum. Also, it'll stop it just being matches between riders for X and riders for Y, to some extent. Anyway, don't take my word for any of this shiz, 'cos like I said, it's Danny and Tom's house so it's their rules...
  16. Hey Dan. I've unfortunately not got MSN logs turned on, so I don't have the MSN conversations saved. Also, I can't remember the posts in which they said they got a discount for mentioning Viz. I guess it's unfair I keep using you as an example, so I'll try and stop doing it. It was just that it seemed like the examples involving Viz in general seemed to fit what I was trying to say. Sucks, I suppose, but there we go. No issue with Viz avatars either, apart from confusing the tats off of me when I'm trying to work out who's posting. From what I can remember Danny saying, there aren't any more banners available. Er, that should be "Not enough banner space available", to make more sense :) So yeah, anyway, I won't use Viz as an example again Dan seeing as I guess it was out of order... Mark
  17. Hey Phil, should have a PM if you didn't notice it :) Anyway, as you said - random forum members are fine to post up info. If they didn't, the forum would just die. Simple as that, really. The thing is is that like Tart posting a link to Bikedock, he isn't affiliated with them, so it's just helping people out. That's a crappy example on my part, but it's from "life" so it works I guess. Anyway, random forum members are fine to do it, which is where the problem lies. It's just when team riders start donig the sales pitches where the company owners can't that it gets into the grey area, just because they are theoretically affiliated to the company, and stand to gain if you make the sale (metaphorical "you", not you you, Phil :D).
  18. Doesn't work for them. Won't work for us. (At JT, in that Phil's just split the posts up :))
  19. Fair enough, was just referring to the "I think it's set out to be the top of the line ultimate frame aswell." bit. Sorry if it seems like I'm being uber pedantic with you or anything :)
  20. Again Phil, wasn't saying you're putting anyone up to saying anything. All I mean is that, like with the Vizbikes thing before, it just ends up with threads asking bone questions like "Are the brand new Viz rims available from Dan Ko for £ _ _ any good? I think so, but what about you?" or whatever, which are shit, really. Just when people start 'fishing' for answers and so on it gets a bit gay. To be honest, I'm a bit knackered and not really thinking super well, so I'll get back to you on the rest of your post. The main thing is is that the rules are trying to be altered to allow more flexibility for advertisers as opposed to an all-out ban. Allowing companies to put up some info about new products and so on's good, but it's gotta be done right. Or something. Meh. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  21. Hmm. Fancy tech bits and a flashy design doesn't necessarily mean it'll ride well or last (like the first Vincos that died super quick?) though...
  22. Hey Phil, I wasn't suggesting you did at all. Sponsored riders/others working for shops putting up info is another problem that is affecting basically every set of rules people are trying to come up with. As one rule, for example, would you agree to letting company people put up replies to questions asked? But ONLY to the actual question? E.g. "How many bars do you have in stock?" "3" as opposed to "3, you should buy them now 'cos they're f**king awesome"? So that way, people get the info they want, without it being a 'sales pitch' and thus getting people aggro?
  23. CNC'd BB + yoke. CNC'd top of seat-tube/stay/top-tube join. Half the world supply of U6 to make those gussets. That stuff doesn't come cheap, really...
