i thought the same......... according to solida works though there is a lot less stress here. im unsure on how to post pictures, but i have some pictures of the new type shell, it has more of a bulge on the area they were breaking, any that do manage to break on the older shells i would imagine will be replaced with the new type shells that number of broken hubs is not really a lot either to consider that they have made a few thousand of these hubs and only around 8 to 10 actaully cracking (reported back to hope that is) there may be more. ash

they have re-designed the shells, contact hope they will sort you out they have been beefed up in that area making them 10% stronger in the area they were cracking. ash

Just a quick question, i was wondering if there is anywhere that you can buy the rohloff single speed tensioner springs seperately from the complete unit? i.e. a replacement? or any similar springs? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers. ash.

yer thats right they was modified due to around 7 or 8 shells out fo a few thousand hubs sold broke, now has more meat on that area of the shell, and according to solidworks the shell is 10% stronger in that area now. also a thing to note, when these hubs did break none of the ratchet rings did actually split, only the shell split round them, so its nothing to do with the ratchet mechanism ash

chances are that they will let stock run out first before getting the newer shell versions ash

Hope have around 12 new hubs combinations due out in the near future...................... the trials models remain unchanged............. except the pro 2 has now had the modification that was needed on the shells. ( to hopefully stop them splitting) the new hubs are goin to be catering for road bikes, downhill etc, they are doing straight pull spokes models, disc model and non disc model in each type of hub also brining back specific radial hubs etc also heard that most will be ahving full new stainless steel bearings ash

was a good ride today! even in the bad weather! it adds to the excitment! i can't wait for the comp next sunday now! just need a bit more practice on my new steed beforehand! ash

yet again another great ride up shipley! was good to meet a load of new riders and also great t seee a wide age group, its good to see the older riders helping with advice towards the younger riders etc and everyone getting on well! mint ride yet a little windy ash

you been on something mate? the guy merely asked about a front hub, its a forum, i gave an oppinion on a front hub that to me is of a decent quality, its lightweight, good quality bearings, resonable price and excellent aftersales, i was giving an oppinion i really dont get some people like you? childish or what, all i do is recommend a hub? fair enough i may rant about hope, yer but im giving advice................................. and to the answer of your question if hope did make cars would i bum them? ........... no i work for rolls royce, i bum there aero engines............... there even better quality...... and how the hell is it annoying................ maybe i find you annoying posting crap back? i offered advice..................... get over it.. rant over ash

theres a little more to it than that, the actaul freehub body requires machining as do the end caps to allow the clearance1 would be really kool though if they did make them! ash

the scale that hope work on is unbelievably large......... they make just over a 1000 of each model of hub a week................ i still can't see them making a mod hub............... no because i machined i little of the freehub body in length down, you could probably for 4 or 5 on though................ but who the hell wants a mod with gears..............seriously? ash

to be honest hope wont be doing anything soon! i made the hub myself from aprts and moddified them, who knows though they may bring something out......it all depends on the market ash
