it has been done, by me, it is not very good though, the best way to do it, is to use hopes new fittings that come with the braided hose, you have to have the pads set extremely close to the rim so your fudged if it buckles................. the lever feel is not very good it comes to the bars, this is due to the laver to pivot ration being sumwhat different, also with having a smaller psiton 9mm to be exact in the mini lever body the brake works quite well, in fact you do need a booster, the fact that you are mixing an open with a closed sytem does not really matter, although a c2 lever would work better, (these are still availble from most good bike shops) when i had mine on i ran it on mineral fluid, worked fine didnt really damage the hope seals, however i soon went back to using a magura body ( the older type ) ash

reynolds is difficuolt to come by, t45 is your friend, readily available from elmdon metals based in birmingham, all sorts of popular sizes and gauges of tuning available ash

they were made in 2002 and into 2003 then they were stopped for a while then the new urban was launched last year., really strong frame, i think there was only bucky who managed to crack his, pretty pimping to ride aswell regards ash

looking pretty swish, i like the idea of the vented sides, seems a good design, i hate riding with sweaty feet, dunno how they will hold up in the british winter weather though for waterproof etc. not badly priced in comparrison with other brands of trial specific shoe either, the ratchet buckle system seems a good idea also, thats probably one of the downfalls to the try-all not having this sytem ash

bollocks? hmm you seem to know a hell of a lot about the mechanical failure of these hubs and bicycle products? i said a number of reasons... i.e. salt corrosion which has been seen on many hope hubs, i can name a few peoples, one being ryan smiths, which happened quite recently, one of danny smiths old king shells has split. They have the possiblity of failing through poor quality materials, (this was told to me by hope yesterday) they have had a number of occurances where, material has been porous, therefore propogating a crack, this cannot be helped..... also incorrect tensioning and lacing of wheels contributes towards cracking.. at the end of the day a shell has broken, it is one out of thousands which has broken, fair enough 3 or 4 bearings have also broken within the freehub body, this has been adressed at hope and is being altered to a needle bearing, but to be honest thats not a lot to break out of the thousands that they have made, i would still class them as a solid hub, these hubs are that popular that they are struggling to get hold of the material to machine them
-
you would be quite surprised, plus incorrect/overtightening/ radial lacing of spokes can easliy cause a shell to crack, ive seen it done many times really, if im correct in thinking , wayne also had a shell crack on a pro 2... and yes they are aluminium , what else do you expect them to be whem they are anodised? ash
-
obviously not up to standard, if you cared to look back i said that i would eat the hub if it skipped and skipped properly, i.e. a full rotation, i did not mention any hub shell, i have seen the new hub shells go already, i.e. due to salt corrosion regards ash

it wasn't the non-driveside flange that was moved inwards, it was the driveside flange of the shell that was extended and the barrel shortened to 6 speed, the disc mount is on for people who might want to use a disc... ash

the post mount is goin to be the new standard from the end of this year i am affraid, i know shit......... i prefer the current style of mounting, its also goin to be a big ball ache for disc/ fork manufacturers as some designs may have to change, the brake featured is the new freeride brake, quite a nice design, the lever is going to be fully adjustable, quite similar in ways to the juicy 7 jobby, the rotor is one of the new many prototypes being tested, there is a few new models of brake being released soon, including a 'super mono mini' this model features 16mm diameter pistons rather than the 20mm ones in the mono mini, this brake looks tiny and is very very lightweight, this should be released soon. also coming soon from hope that most of you guys probably arn't that interested in, is the new seatpost, expect big things from hope over the next few years, there moving to the new bigger premises soon, which means new technologies and machines.............. ps the colour of the lever/ calliper is the new colour which may be released, this is called lime or lemon regards ash

that fresh procuct lever looks pimp, looks good from an ergonomic and aesthetic point of view, nice to see its been made and designed to fit around the more popular 04 lever body i think deng should have done this with the levers he has just designed ash

what about 14 t some people use 16 up front to 14 rear ash -
i had a prototype pro2 that ran on one pawl at a time and gave 72 engagement points, this just skipped constantly then we moved on to the good design which is now used in the pro 2's where two pawls are offset to the other two to give 48 eps ash
-
i tried a pro 2 just for curiosity, quite tasty but needs garlick by the way mine is still going strong.............. ash
-
all I can say is hmmm to that idea, it would work but would be very sketchy, one of the first prototype hope hubs had one pawl engaging at a time to give 72 engement points, thats skipped like a biatch oh well its a project let me know how it goes on ash

i enjoyed the comp today, the sections seemed spot on, if not a little muddy and slippy, but i enjoyed myself, quite a few face plants and falls from me today, but oh well, all part of the fun good to meet some new faces and talk to people, the best section for me had to be the man made section, that ruled. overall a good comp, shame about the weather, big thanks to all the observers and organisers of this event all the best ashley smith

my job role, hard to explain, im multi-skilled for rolls royce aerospace barnoldswick site, i can do pretty much any job as the title say, but currently toolmaking like yourselve, think you may have misunderstood what i was saying in my post by the sounds of the reply, but oh well im not arguing. as for the machines the standard hope use are a lot better quality and up to date than the ones we have at rolls, most of our machines date back to lates 60's and 70's, unbelievable but true... hope are using the latest machines, i beleieve there hubs are good quality and thats my oppinion nothing more, everyone likes different as for the bearings, all the new hubs from hope should have fully stainless bearings from now.. ash

how are the hopes not in chris king league? i dont want to argue but coming from an engineer, the materials that hope use are in league with a king, if not better, the machining processes that hope use on there hubs is second to none, you wont find a better quality finish and tolerance on a bicycle component than a hope, and thats coming from someone who machines and designs aero engine parts for a living for rolls royce, the new pawl and spring mechanism is quite basic, yet it works, im not saying there is anything wrong with any other manufacturers designs such as kings as i like the way they ride, my mate adam had one on his kot, i don't beleive that has ever skipped, yet neither has my hope.............. obviously i am biased towards hope, maybe you dont like them , but they are definately on par with a king, you only have to look at well established riders opionions like waynios, ali c's and stan shaws, they all like theres. vote british............. support your country best regards ash
