  3. iolo bikes if you want a proper job ash
  4. isn't the idea of a custom frame, to have 'custom' geometry? you should be deciding on how you want it to ride..... what tubing are you going to be using are you going to be brazing or tig welding? also remeber you have the jib/fixture to think about when making a frame also, possible heat treatment..... is that readily available in your area? good luck anyway and post pics when you have finished your project! regards ash
  5. i addmit my testing wasnt doen to how it should ahve been, i only managed to break the older type ratchets not bearings, same with the rest of the local lads plus a lot of the test work was done on xc bikes for the pro 2 , dunno why really ash
  6. if you are old enough to remember hope once did a pro model hub many years ago ash
  7. if you have bought recently i.e. in the last 2 months or so then the springs ae the new sort as for the bearing job, they havnt made new ones yet, altho if out happens i wud immagine hope will sort it ash
  8. as it turns out , the end bearing in the freehub is just to crap to put it straight, its too small, they have adressed it and will be changed in due course, they did conisder a bushing being used, but have opted for a taper roller bearing. bit of a shitter really, mark, they didnt spend ages developping bearings they were just awaiting delivery. also leaf springs have had a slight change, the size of radius has been altered to a greater size to stop them snapping, they now seem ok after running them. ash
  9. they have started messing wi the bearings in the freehub , they are on about changing to a needle roller bearing instead ash
  10. just to add, for an m5 bolt (cap head) you would use a 4.2mm drill bit, as 5mm would be too big really and the thrwad would strip quite easily good bodge though thats the same as i have done to mine ash
  11. i like the look of that new monty, similar to last year, its good to see they are progressing onto new ideas such as the newer rims, more up-to-date........... the bars look the business aswell in white! ash
  12. i had the exact same problem as you did with my echo external bb, i put it into my gu frame tightened it to around 60n/m and the axle had a little play in it, i couldnt figure out the problem, so i took it out and tightened it back up, still a little play so i tightened it even tighter and that sorted the problem, i htink the cups need to be tight up against the recess in the axle, to me the axle with the recess probably is a little out of tolerance when it has been machined........ who knows but all is well now ash
  13. looks quite nice although i think you are living a little dangerously relying on zip ties....................... would probably work better with some form of spring or just by simply locking it out, like a fresh product type design ash
  14. sexy, im liking the look of that, wonder what the price is like ash
  15. That looks good, nice colour, i hope it rides as well as it looks, post some pics when its built ash
  16. if all the above ideas fail, get urself an angle grinder, and completely grind the heads off the bolts. the disc should then pull off, leaving you with sum thread on each bolt sticking out, not much mind, but enough to get a good set of mole grips or pliers onto to try loosen the loctite, oh a tip warm the hub up with boiling water or a hair drier first, this should soften the loctite, however, this depends on which type of loctite you have used............. hope this helps regards ash
  17. hi, im from barnoldswick, not far from barrowford, bout 5 mile away quite gd for riding in colne and burnley and as ali said ash
  18. wouldnt really see it working to be honest, as there are new parts out virtually every week, so it would soon be out of date, a probable idea would be leaflets with new product introduction with orders, costs would be a lot cheaper aswell and more up-to-date ash
  19. try select bikes they had some a while ago ash
  20. titanium can be fabricated and welded just like steel or aluminium by the use of a tig welder and argon gas? hardly expensive and difficult technique, fair enough the material is expensive but the technique is no different to any other, infact titanium is easier to weld than alu due to being direct current rather than alternating current, how is cncing alu any different to cnc'ing ti? apart from ti having differeny properties, it is still relatively easy to machine ash
