High Bb Frames-a Few Months On-whats The Verdict?
Bigman replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
I have to say that when i rode Daves HiFi at the DJ ride in Abingdon it did feel Horrid, it realy wasn't nice (Y) I am one of these High BB frame people, i have the BT6 1100 and with my Echo control forks the BB rise measures in at around 40-45mm, which isn't as extreme as some of the other frames on the market, I absolutly love this bike, I deffiantly agree with Adam about finding a stem that does match the BB rise of the frame, i am running a koxx 130mm 20deg rise stem, which gives a 40mm rise above my previous 5deg rise stem which i used to run, and this deffiantly makes the ride much better, I think to put a stem such as BT's own one with 30deg of rise on would make the front end to high, and make it feel very strange. The Bike is so nice to ride, i have only realy ridden natural on it, which means i am still not as confident with taps on the bike, but they are slowly coming back, Sidehops are much different though, i feel much more confident when lineing up for a sidehop on the BT that i ever did on the T-rex, and once sorted it just seems to shoot straight up. Gaps are something that i had to adapt my yechnique for too, as the High BB makes the frame feel like it wants to loop out when u realy put the power down which means u have to alter slightly to compensate for this, but now i am used to the feel of it i can gap further than i could with my T-rex. For Natural this bike is fantastic, On the backwheel it gives loads of confidence when making moves to small scary rocks where rear wheel precision is important, the high BB doesn't alter the 2 wheel balence either, it is just as easy to balance on 2 wheels as it was on my T-rex, The extra length over my t-rex has also benefitted me, as i sometimes felt crampt on the rex, but on the BT i have yet to feel like i could do with more room. As u have ridden my bike Nick u know how it rides, and how much i love it, I think if u feel comfortable on Dan's HiFi u should deffiantly give it a go, and as they are pretty cheap at the moment, why not, u can always sell it if u don't get on with it. Well, That is my little "praise for high BB frames" essay over with. Adam -
I would agree with the coments on the koxx greens, they realy are awsome, i love mine, and every body that has tried my rear brake has been impressed, i have a medium to harsh grind i woud say, no real noticable wear after 3 weeks riding. Adam

HAHAHAHAHA, i like the fact that in those pics of Mikes bike has has missed out all the dents, i rode worcester with him yesterday and that rim was F*CKED it was very very dead, dents all over the shop, so i think i will be sticking with a ronnie for a little bit longer, or the new echo rim when they are releaced. I would realy recomend the BT raven 6, i have the 1100 version and every one who has ridden it has loved it, i have a feeling that if u bought the 1065 version it would ride as if it were abit shorter, i am not sure, as the BB rise on frames make them feel shorter than they actualy are, as long as u use a stem that would compensate for the BB rise it will feel VERY good, i am running a koxx 130mm 20deg stem, and i feel it is the perfect geo for this frame. I agree with Elan on the Zoo's, i have never ridden one that i have thought rode nice at all, thya always seem to feel very crampt, even on the 1090 version, as they have a very slack headangle which brings the bars too far back for my liking. Try and get a ride on both, see what u prefer, but i would strongly recomen the BT. Adam

Hmmmm :D My "bike vids" folder, comes in at just under 37GB (Y) the folder named "my Videos" comes in at just under 3GB And my "Random Vids" folder, at a mear 0.5GB. That is quite worrying, having around 40GB of vids, mostly bike related :P Adam

Yup, as tom said, front is +20mm, as if u look, any hydro rear 160mm caliper, is EXACTLY the same as the front 180mm version, so if u brought the 185 rear avid, u would need to get hold of a 205mm rotor for it to work :D Adam

He said to me, his ritcheys had less play in them over a 12month period than a brand new set of SD7's he tried, and as far as i know, they do not have any sort of linkage in them. I think the ultimates are a tad expensive is what he said to me lol. Adam

I speak to Felix quite often on MSN, and if i remember correctly his rear brake setup is as follows: XTR lever, Full nokon housing and cable, Ritchey Pro Logic Vee arms. Heatsink Vee pads XTR carbon booster. I hope that helped, and i hope u don't mind me posting this felix. Adam

Yeh, the place is incredible, it is similar to porthcawl, with loads of rock ledges etc, except it is all granite, so grippy in all conditions. It is in Cornwall, between Penzance and Lands End, quiate a long way from anywhere realy <_< No body seen the vid? not many replys  Adam

Hey Guys. After our little vid from up at my farm during the week, me and Dan decided to venture down to Lamorna Cove, 7 miles from Lands End, so even a long way for me and dan, about 3/4 of an hour drive for us. Had a ride for about 3.5-4 hours and this is the vid that i produced from the decent footage that we got from the ride, most was filmed using a tripod, but sometimes wasn't in quite the right place :D Riders: Adam Phillips (me): BT6 Dan Pearce: BT4 Details: File is 43mb roughly, and 4mins long, track used it Incubus, Drive. And finaly the link: Left click, then right click, Lamorna Cove riding file :P Hope you all enjoy. Adam
