  1. nope, they are isis, but thanks for the suggestion. I dont really know what the deal is. i had to fabricate a really small washer to put on the spindle before the crank arm went on to make it clear. I think it may be the fact taht its a 73mm bb taht is centered on a 68mm bb shell as opposed to a pure 68mm bb in a 68mm bb shell. with the 73 and the spacers to center it, i think it has less spindle length that is actually exposed so the cup is closer to the freewheel to begin with. Oh well, it works now. thanks
  2. I have the echo forged cranks, they are new, but not the machined ones. I had some fitment issues with a couple different 128mm bb's and a white industries freewheel. When the crank bolts were torqued the eno pressed against the BB cup on the drive side. Very annoying and it took a lot of work to get it to be compatible on my HiFi. Just fyi, as i know you are looking at the machined ones i dont think it was the bottom bracket of the freewheel, i just think the echo tolerances are slightly off. You shouldnt have a problem with a fixed cog up front
  3. I guess it ultimately depends on your riding style... personally, i thought they could have beena little wider even. I wouldnt cut them down. width=stability and control in trials, shortness=barspins and twitchiness.. jsut my 2 cents (i dont know if thats an american term???)(if so, just my opinion) Do whatever you think fits your riding style the best :P
  4. I also really like the zoo! bars, i have them on my hifi and i tilted them forward so the upward bar rise is aligned with the stem angle. This way, the slight backweep points much more up than backwards, it feels very nice, especially on the backwheel. :P
  5. I am running a 2006 echo rim (48mm) with a echo fixed cassette on the rear and a white industries freewheel up front, feels very solid. On the back wheel, the ultra wide rim feels very stable with a 2.5 maxxis minion( if you can fit it in your frame) Another very popular set up is a drilled alex dx-32 rim with a chris king hub, but CK would cost you a bunch more :) We dont get much of the Viz stuff over here, sorry so i wouldnt know about that yet, but the eno freewheel is amazing.
  6. sorry if this sounds stupid, but i am an americanite (Y) can someone tell me what a chav is? and why you cant have your leg over your bike at the train station? (Y)
  7. Surly endomorph 3.7  its not practical for anything but offroading, but it sure is huuuuge. www. surlybikes.com
  8. there is this cool rock/wood beam sculpture that my buddy john and i ride at, its got a lot of different things to do. I like my pallet/spool/beam jungle thingy in my back yard too. Some urban ledges can be pretty cool too.
  9. I too would like to know what is next in bike trials.. do you think the geometry will change yet again? do you think BB's will go back down or keep going up? with the rate of change of biketrials in the last 10 years especially, i doubt that we have come to a standstill as far the advance of geometry, riding style, riding skill, rules, etc.... things will change over time, i just want to know what. :(
  10. The wheels are Echo 2004-2005 hubs, rear cassette and a front disc, lace up to 2006 echo rims, 38mm front and 48mm rear. The rim tape is a mystery to me as well. I think its try-all, but i dont know for sure. I could find out if you want to know. I like it though, its quite different. (Y)
  11. I had hs22's a long time ago on a mod bike.... they are decent brakes and they have decent power, but the lever is way too long and you HAVE to use at least 2 fingers to brake properly and that is not preferable for trials. Also, hs33 is definitely not a trials specific brake, however i think it would be safe to say that with the advent of rear discs, the hs33 has become increasingly less popular with riders from genres other than trials. Trials is likely the reason that magura still makes these brakes. (Y)
  12. Man i wish we had a start up rate like this in america. Glad to see you starting trials! You will have a ton of fun mate (Y)
  13. I wish i had pictures of it built, but i dont because its not built until this weekend (Y) i am going home and making a morning of it.. and then if its not too cold, i will ride it until exhaustion kicks in (Y)
  14. Well, there is a start... that stuff is sitting at my house and im at college.. grrrrrr. I want to build/ride it soooo bad. :P At my house but not pictured: FSA pig headset Maxxis minion 2.5 supertacky Michelin Hot S front (black) Magura hs-33 FSA platinum pro dh BB 128mm Wellgo b-37 platforms KMC K810 Surly 16T cog Also coming: Stainless steel hose kit (magura) Hope trials brake , 180mm rotor White industries freewheel I cant wait... this is pretty much my dream bike.
  15. Like it was stated earlier, if you are going to just run an 18 up front and a 15 in the back, you could use a series of cassette spacers on the hub in different combinations with a single 15T cog ( like a surly 15 T cog, but at least make sure it has a wide base on the cog so it doesnt dig into your cassette as badly) http://www.webcyclery.com/pages.php?pageid=7 that is a link to webcyclery with a page on how to run single speed on a cassette hub. enjoy :P
  16. I ride with ODI ruffian lock on grips. They never move once you lock them down and they are relatively thin in comparison with a lot of other grips (not as thin as the super thin tryall or other trials ones) I have heard they wear out rather quickly, but i havent noticed that much at all. :P
  17. I really dig Florian Tournier, Felix Mücke, and JJ (american oldskooler). Benito is a very skilled rider... in fact he is amazing. :P
