Drilling My Stock Rims Would It Work?
Robwalker replied to ashby-trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Not with a good wheel build, it doesnt make an inch of difference and really you dont need it to be uber strong just strong enough to withhold taps or whatever else you may do on the front wheel. Rob EDIT: Pic of my rim, no problems whatsoever! [attachmentid=4521] -
But if there was an alternative to the bikes or cars at exactly the same quality but at a next to nothing price you wouldnt snap it up? Rob

Drilling My Stock Rims Would It Work?
Robwalker replied to ashby-trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Oooo I was in the same position as you, and i drilled it, although i decided that to not loose out on stregnth i would have to make the holes small. I think there about 12mm? Ill get you a pic and edit it. But overall it came out fine. The best technique is to take appart the whole wheel, then get a bendy ruler from your math class and measure in the middle of each spoke hole/eyelet, then mark it. I found it alot more easier to drill through with a small drill pirce first, 4/5mm, then use that hole as a guidance when drilling with the 12 or so mm drill piece. And make sure you clamp it in a vice and you will probaly find it easier drilling towards the floor. Deffinetly do it! i did and have no regrets atall, i love it! Rob -
But its a compound so that it still needs another oxygen atom to make it reactive! So if you dont have any air in your brakes then there's no harm! Rob
-
Not that it makes that much difference but the Pro 2 is 186 grams whereas the XC is 207 grams, and also the pro 2 is made trials specific and is probaly stronger and can withhold the stress from trials better than an XC. Rob

Well there's no need to worry about the spoke legnth if your building up a wheel that youve just taken appart, although for spoke calculators i've found the TF one to be the best and easiest (it can be found in Danny's sig) Although if your still not sure drop tarty an email im sure they'll help you on hub sizes ect. Rob EDIT: Linky For spoke calculator

Put it into a folder. Then in the folder go |Tools/Folder Options. Then click on the view tab. [attachmentid=4468] You then need to uncheck this box, this should allow you to change the file extention by renameing it. You will find afterwards that all the files on your computer are now shown with the extention. You can stop this by simpily checking the box again. Hope ive helped Rob

It really not that hard to learn, just go for it, i did and its not all that bad But seriously if you havent done it before then just copy off another wheel. Thats what i did first time and after my 3/4th time i can nearly do it all by memory. It seriously isnt that hard to do i dont know why so many people are affraid to try! Rob
-
Hey Well basicly you just got to keep trying for it, dont go at it for 5 mins then decide thats enough, keep going at it harder and harder and if its not working try changing the way your doing something, speed for example, i found it easier if i got a little bit more speed. Its all about technique and pushing yourself. Good Luck Rob

About time! Hope its been worth the wait Not that im rele going to find out Rob

Someone needs a slap! You through that away while were all having to strugle!!! Whats her number (hehe joke) Rob -
Probaly best going for IOLO, really good frames apparently and if you drop him an email im sure he'll help you out. Rob
-
Agreed And that really does look too small, the pawls will probaly be really small therefore making it more prone to slipping. Nice hub but i wouldnt trust it, especialy being the first hub from echo, i'd go with something from a company with a bit more experience(king hope ect.) Rob
