Well i removed the front splitter from the car yesterday gave it all a good sand down put some filler on parts of it to level it off gave it another sand down. 1 more sand down with smooth emry paper then its good to be sprayed and laquered. Will get some pics up tomorrow of before and after. Will be sorting 1 of the side skirts also over the next day or 2 if i comes out great. Almost pay day too so going to ordered up a 4 point takata harness and a nrg quick release system. Go pro has been ordered but for some reason the black editions were delayed till the 27th so will have that for the end of the month. Other than that just been driving and enjoying the car not much else to update

Haha your guess is as good as mine. Anyways after a bit of digging out wires have been cut everywhere so new dash isnt going in anytime soon. Anyways noticed a loose wire from the motor sport convertor box slapped it back in and i now have a working speedo. It reacts a bit slow but it works 1 issue solved. Theres 2 extra slot left which i think may be engine temp have no idea which wire though. Guy i bought car from said that the convertor didnt work for engine temp but i think he may be full of it theres a spare 2 slots in the box. Pulled out aem guage all wires look fine from that ene.

I would say go for it if you like hands on. All places i have worked have had a weld and fab department also. Depends what sort of welding your into. Alot of our work requires cladding for machining which seems a nice easy job watch a machine for hours or end or in the fabrication side would be quite cool making and welding parts together. A time served welder up my way would be on around 30-35k basic with anywhere upto 50-60k with overtime. So its a pretty decent paid job also. You have the opportunity to head offshore also. A welder at my company was offered a job in norway in a machine shop 3 weeks there 3 weeks home 55k a year all digs paid for ect. If you want to go away with the offshore sort of life plenty of oportunities there.

Think i will give the t1rs a go first then front set of tyres are pretty much brand new and rears still have plenty of tread left. Then i will try out those 595s. Yeh after a quick google search it seems the cars could come with either 15s or 16s so should be fine. Ideally i would be looking into a 2nd set of wheels as the track is about a 220 mile round trip there and back. Thanks i will see what i can get to attach it to the head rest then.

Hey adam i currently have toyo t1rs are after a quick google search there meant to be pants for track. So am putting my trust in you my wheels are are 16s so tyres are fine and cheap. Those federals look pretty good but also what about toyo r888s theres not much difference in price between the 2? Use have got me wanting to track the car asap now so gonna try and get it to knockhill on the 18th. Another question since am a car nooob. Gonna buy the new go pro 4 was planning on buying it for snowboarding which i have planned for next year but mite aswell buy it now and get some track footage. What do you guys mount it too and do u need to buy an added accesory? Anyways i stripped out front seat completely what a heavy beast it is will be going back in though didnt have time to clean it tonight. Ripped carpet up a bit to see condition of floor looks pretty decent apart from 1 wee rust bit thats been filled a bit rough. Still a bit undecided carpet no carpet. Great place to put a ecu was standing all over it wandering what it was under the carpet. Sanded down the wee bits of rust and put some yellow paint over the top not to fussed about the colour not being identical at the moment may get a full respray in the future if i dont prang it on the track ha. Totally loving having a wee project car

The exhaust is ridiculous on it think its a 3.5 system its so loud wouldnt pass a 105db track limit i dont think. Had a hunt on ebay and i can buy a baffle i think its called to slightly reduce the size to reduce the noise so gonna order 1 of them up to sort the problem for the moment. Dying to get it on the track now. Theres an open track day at knockhill this month mite take it up if i can get speedo sorted out next week when the original dash arrives. So with decent tyres for track what would u recommend not clued up on different tyres at all? Tyres and helmet would get me through a track day i recon for the mean time till i can afford cage and decent harnessess.

Went out with my dad last night to take a pic of the car came out not to bad. That mr2 looks sweet loving the colour

So i have stripped rear some more hidden more cables behind the pannels came up not to bad well good as its going to get. Just got to cut the fog light wire now and hide that behind the pannels and cables will be all sorted. Ordered up a standard dc2 dash today hopefully that solves my issues if not will have to look into a possible dodgy wire. Also got a rear boot carpet to keep as a spare. And plastic bits for the inside of the door for mirrors mines have holes and screws in them from extra speaker fitment just trying to tidy her up a bit. Tiny bit of rust to sort out will check halfords tomorrow see if i can get a rough colour of paint just for that wee bit. Another early finish of work tomorrow going to strip the front seats and clean them up still undecided on removing front carpet or not. Also gonna give the strut bar? A fresh coat of paint either yellow or back opinions?

Wheres the usual place to wire in a guage? My stupid aem guage that tells me engine temp wont come on. Cigarette lighter the usual as that doesnt work? Think all be purchasing up a standard dc2 dash this s2000 dash aint worth the hastls its giving me. Went a filled up the audi tonight felt like i had forgotten how to drive steering light as anything gear shifts like stirring soup putting wipers on instead of indicators.

Any reason why bolting them straight into where the back seat belts are bolted into are a bad idea? Something along the lines of this? Read up or harness bars since u guys mentioning them and some have said stay clear of mounting harness straight to them as theyve seen some horrendous bends in them with a crash? Thanks . Im all new to this setting a car up and what to go with and what to stay clear of so all the help i can get is appreciated. You got any recomendations for harnessess then which are nice and comfy aswell as mega safe? Thoughts on a bolt in cage compared with a welded in? Im swaying towards a bolt in cage which can easily be removed if i wanted to put the car back to near on standard interior?
-
Was just a quick strip it of the main parts today. The boot part never came with carpet when i got the car so putting carpet in really aint an option. Im gonna take seats out next weekend and give them a good scrub down. Theres a tiny bit of surface rust where the spare wheel was kept this will be getting rubbed down and protected till i see about the inside getting a tidy up spray. Will see what else i can remove from the car. Would like the front to kind of remain carpeted since i will be driving it on the streets aswell. Will see what i come to at the weekend maby just rip it all out. Hopefully i can get the s2000 dash working properly this week.

Possibly gonna grab those harnessess of my pal on the cheap. Took 2 seconds to strip the rear out cars definetly been stripped out for track before by the looks of it. anyone cleaned up recaros before fancy sharing advice on products to use to get them looking new again? Also daily and the toy parked up at home together.

Soo few issues with new car nothing major Body work is fine no rust ect all seems clean. Front splitter needs a respray and 1 side skirt and car should be looking pretty dam good. The s2000 dash thats in it seems to be a lose connection the speedo with mph is a bit tempermental cuts out at times but revs and petrol ect seem to always work will have a look at this today. Interior needs a good scrub and should come up gd as new. The recaros are perfect though bolsters at the side are nice and firm. Totally loving the k billet short shifter cracking bit of kit im a cnc miller and its top notch work. Exhaust is a bit overkill and never gonna pass a 105db track limit. Its a 3.5 inch custom system which i need to get q bit quieter. Car drives absolutly spot on gear changes flawlessly pulls all the way to redline in the gears i have tried without breaking speed limits of course. Providing weather is nice today i plan stripping out the back seats throwing out the spare wheel ect and mite be purchasing some harnessess off my friend for the car. near future mods the breaks could be done with an upgrade there totally fine for road use but id prefer a but more stopping power for the track. also a roll cage and possibly bew steering wheel then i think i should have a fairly decent track/ semi road car. pics to follow when i can be bothered getting on my kip ha The cars had power steering delete feels great on the road bit of a pain to park though.

So just got home with the teg what a car i expected it to be slow since it wasnt turbo but it just pulls and pulls and pulls i think rolling it would have gave my stage 2 r a run for its money. Anyways few niggly issues to sort out but mechanicaly the car is spot on will update tomorrow with pics and a wee summary on the car.
