-

-

yo ross if your free over easter mate.. come on up to sunny coast and you can ride mine for as long as u like, we can even change bar/stem etc so it feels good for you. Il be unable to ride due to stitches in my leg. Its stil the only one in Australia so its bout the only way u can find out how it rides for yourself. But im sure youll hear nothing but good feedback about them. Talk to you on msn soon. danny...

all u critics... i bet u couldnt even manual brakeless or even have the balls to even try the shit chris does with brakes. personally i luved it. reminded me of a few things.. 1 - what can be achieved through determination, skill, innovation and creativity, and 2 - why akkers is the best all round rider that iv admired since day one. thanks for posting john

bike looks sweeet!!! considering the light weight of the frame, you could get that under 9 without too much trouble id think. My ozonys is currently 9.4kg and the frames a fair bit heavier. love it though. looks really good mix of parts. imo change pedals and if u want lighter go the schwalbe bigbetty (foldable) and itll save alot of weight!! mint

awesome thread!!! have to be avid ultimate calipers - the old stx-rcs i had were the best ever bk then lol a decent tyre - mixxing elgatos with tioga dh's and then python golds up front.. yuk!! lastly - frame and fork!! something like ozonys and viz fork or similar. riding a 19" diamondback with bout 4inches of bb drop and heavy arse forks was shite!! good to hear all these advancements in our sport. other areas i reckon have made a huge difference, wide rims, handlebars and stems, cranks (no more powerpros!!yay) bb, brakes etc.. its all good

thanks for comments ricky, as for video its a bit hard, as where i live is pretty secluded and i spend most time riding by myself. only 2 other riders in nearby area. am working on getting some footage though. need to invest in a fisheye lense thingy i think too.. but dunno shit bout em or whats good/bad etc. cheers..

cheers mate.. iv got both of them. these are two actual vids u can find on ali c's page onyoutube.. called scrapbook 1 and 2. they are basically leftovers and spare footage which he threw together. The riding is typical Ali style,... super cool, smooth and trademark flow through what seems an effortless line. Really enjoy them.. heres link to youtube vid.. Really hope Ali or some1 can upload to TT so people can dl them
-
Im really chasing the Ali C vids "scrapbook 1 & 2" would love it if someone cud chuck em up on TT if possible?? I seem to be watching them alot on youtube but really wanna dl em... and thought maybe other people might have requests or wishlist of vids to be uploaded onto TrialsTube. Thanks!! danny

waynes right,... id rather be old and doing an enjoyable, fun and healthy sport than, old and filling a stereotype by sittin at the pub or being another overweight office clown. Iv just turned 30, in october 2007. It was a hard day personally, a day id said when i was 23/24ish id stop riding by that age. But noway never u cant stop doing what u love nomatter what. If your true to yourself you will not allow the thoughts or opinions of others to influence your decision to ride. Riding is not bound by age, riding is only bound by fun and enjoyment. Once those things have gone, then look elswhere til then.. grab the bar, stomp those pedals and love every minute of it. one last note.. i find akkers inspiring. not just for his riding, but we are the same age (only a few months in it) and hes stil riding like a youngster with no fear and 110% commitment, something that seems to fade away for most of us as we get older. Live for the Ride

no rear disc... just vees broke normally on wheelswitches or sidehops, the whole shell just split. was nothing new for about the first yr they were out, everyone seemed to be breaking em. and i know im not the only person to crack one of the newer design shells. do a search for broken or cracked hopes and you will get the whole story on these hubs.

perfect explanation of why il pick up my bike wen its a good day, wen its a bad day, wen im angry, wen im happy, wen i need to just get away and ride. great vid. . thats riding to me.
-
i hate to be the only bad reviewer ere... but i really wouldnt recommend them. In just on 8months i went through two 07 hub shells and one 08 hub shell. Just got another new hub shell from hope (great service!) but im not going to use this hub ever again. sold it to forum member with new shell installed. id personally prefer to save the xtra $$ and get a King! they are a popular hub though and only a few people from wat iv heard have had problems with them. but yeah thats my experience with them..

thanks all for your great replies! really appreciated. got some old zoos im pickin up off a mate tomorrow. might grab some plazzies whilst im in the city, sounds like theyll be uber good. thanks for the other suggestions, but in oz most of them (rocks, red pads etc) are hard to come by. And yes Basher, im being very tempted to be cool and go back to vees. having been such a strong supporter of the vees brigade crusade!! lol i feel a bit traitorish usin maggies... i think wen i put my new wheels on il go bak to vee, but with bb7 on front. got a 28 hole dob front rim which im building onto a monty front hub, and rear dob goin on my king. should bea nice setup and go back to silent brakes. *will try a booster on the maggies and settin pads up better as suggested, thanks everyone!!
-
just scored some free zoo pads off a mate, givin em a try this weekend... stil keen to hear what others use?? and anyway can i get my maggies to be as slient as my vees were??? same pads, same rim, different brakes..
-
wow sweet, any way i can get my rear cousts to shut tha f**K up?? wen i had my vees, i used a booster and that made them silent.... would it work same for maggies or cuz the pads have that bit of movement within the caliper will maggies always vibrate and make noise. my vee cousts were dead silent.. i miss stealthyness
-
thankyou soo much for the quick and helpful replies!! much appreciated, might try some plazzos
-
been using maggies for while now front and rear. Got light (worn out ) grinds front and rear. on the rear got cousts and have no dramas, except for crazy noises (same pads in vees were quiet!) anyways... Im using koolstops on front and after a month of having slipping front brake, im very much leaning towards goin bk to vees. But heres my question.. What pads do people use who use front maggie??? The koolstops are utter shite, not sure i wanna use cousts on front too... any ideas??? please post replies if u use front maggie, and can help me thx!! edit - rims are tryalls
