come on guys... all this talk of 24s soo many ppls on leesons... Someones gotta have some info.?/.??
-
well its been along time coming (bout 2 years of procrastination and making my Ashton last as long as is possible!) the time has come to put the money down and make a decision. . . After talkin to both Shrewsbury and Berridge along with some other peeps (thanks goes to Arron @ FreshProducts too!) Im bout to make that call and its lookin like il be dialin the numbers to Curtis. Going for a slightly heavier but stronger frame with a higher build quality (welds n overal finish). So, I guess im just puttin it out there for the people on ere to give there 2cents on both options.... (PLEASE no comments bout other options Or about who will deliver better customer service... if the frame breaks il surely get it fixed locally... living in australia) A big thanks must go out to Matt Berridge, John Shrewsbury and Arron Todge who have all given me lots of info on tubing, quality of materials, labour etc and overall performance. Thanks for your time guys!! Cheers... Danny

thanks all... One last question... as im gettin a custom steel 24 and i live in oz... i wont be able to send back frame if it cracks - So, which do people think is the strongest - Curtis?? Freshproducts ?? or Leeson ?? any info would be helpful as its expensive and i need to get it right first time. thanks danny

Does anyone know the exact geo of the now obsolete Ashton Ed Tongue 24" frame... especially the HEAD ANGLE .... info required asap for custom Leeson or Freshprod??? opinions ... stronger??? thanks

i got some 2nd hand pashley forks (very old) and put them on my et (yes its stil in 1pce!) anyways my weelbase has gone from about 1025ish out to just over 1040!! Im just curious as i see many people on ets and other 24s (leesons... drrooool!) using the pashley fork.... So, is my fork bent to buggery or is this how people prefer em?? Forks im considering as possible replacement if it turns out the pashley fk i have is fkt... 1. Identity Tuning Trials fork.... any comments? It looks a little less raked out then the pashly but i cud b wrong. 2. Planet X Superlight fork.... right length 400mm, looks strong and just curious about weelbase again? at the mo this is my top choice. 3. Another pash fork if its just the one iv got is bent to shit.... 4. Does anyone know if Mart stil has any of the older Ashton forks with the 24 inch mounts.?? That would be sweeet. Thats what iv got on ther now and i luv it. All in all il probly go the px forks.... but if it turns out the pashley forks on other ppls bikes arent givin them the hugely longer weelbase... im keen to try a new set. well i think thats bout it.... gone on and on but wen ur in oz and rely on maiil order parts... u gotta get it right. Thanks in advance for your help! Danny......

ok im chasing the ashton copy forks for my 24" (cuz i like straightblade light forks and dont wanna change to disc)... so i found the base ones on Bikedock about 2months ago... after numerous emails I stil have NO REPLY! So then im put onto Bikes4Trials with there Ashton fork copy (also with 24 mounts) Two emails sent... NO REPLY!! Does anyone know of a shop selling Ashton (fattyr) style forks WITH 24 inch mounts??? A shop that actually replies and has them in stock??? Any info on finding shops etc suitable.....? danny.
-
really after the fatty r /ashton copies they got advertised.... I live in oz. But if someone can call and find out bout em... would be great!?? Thanks!
-
ahh ok ... that sounds more like it. Well, looks like its the px superlights or hopefully! the B4T ashton copies.. Does anyone know if they have em?? Im waiting email reply. Danny.
-
L E G E N D ! ! ! haha nicely spotted mate... will email em now and wait for reply... just hope they actually have em this time. Cheers danny. >>> does anyone know the people there? and could find out if they have em?? - emails take a while <<< on that same site... B4T... they list the kona project 2 tripple butted as 795 gms!! ??? Is that right? if so thats a great option.... seems almost unbelievable for a steel fork though. danny.
-
yep its them forks! iv emailed bikedock twice... had a mate in england contact them and stil no reply. That would be the ultimate if i could get those ashton copies (base fork) but its lookin unlikely If anyone can get through to bikedock and if they have the forks... il pay for em and sort u out sommat 2! Danny.

Hey guys as some of you would know iv been tryin to chase up replacement straight blade forks with 24inch mounts for my steed. Its been a right b*****d tryin to find some... after my ashtons (i luved!) died its been either go to pashleys (i hate curved out forks!) or another set of ashtons or similar and change to disc on front... which im not keen on but might have to do. Anyways found these gussett forks while wastin time at work today in a catologue. Straight blade, steel, 1.2kg (so it claims ... probly ok?) and shortish (anyone know if same length as ashtons??) .... I was thinking because it is steel i could reweld the mounts on for 24inch size and stil have my straight blade forks yay! Does Anyone Know if there any good ?? Are they tooo short?? etc etc... please offer any advice... its been weeks since iv ridden and im gettin toey! Thanks as always! Danny.

Nice Ride!! agree with ali c though... longer seattube would have been better.. maybe a direct copy of the ET frame but with 4 bolt mounts and you wood have a winner (imo) definatelly heaps better then in that blueballs colour!! When is HEATSINK or ANYONE!!! going to make some more fatty r ripoff forks with 24 inch mounts on em like the old ashton ones... Surely thats the next logical development. Fatty Rs rock and for people (like ME!) who are ol skool anti disc fiends... there is nothing really out there in a straightbladed fork with 24inch v mounts!!! kickass bike dude... add a roadie seat and single speed and youll be pimpin!

there is one coming out later this year... cant say too much right now... but itll be good!!!

just stumbled across this subjekT... Mint stuf guys... keep em coming! any chance one of the mod guys could make this a sticky topic...?? thanks to the guy who posted the links to rf 12/13... been hangin to see them ones. last one i bought was rf10 on VHS!! hehe tis sweet though... got van homan in it so u knwo its gud. all day is good vid too ... all the animal ones even the hell ol skool ones r gud IMO bmx and trials ... the lines are blurring between em! danny!
-
Are the original propper fatty r forks stil available??? Not the ashton, echo, etc knoc offs...
-
ok, first up let me say.... HOLY SH!T dl edit 2... started watchin then realised that i had the vid already but none of the others.... i remember wen i first saw that thinkin... how the heck?!! and along with a few other vids really opened me up to true street style in trials. BRILLIANT! dled the rest of em from the list and oh my god!! usually u see older vids and the ridings pretty average... (normal progression etc) but holy toledo batman!! Mr Feeney sir, your an inspiration... a true guru of originality and style. Im sooo envious.... for those of you wondering if its worth the dl... stop wondering!! just dl one of em, any 1 and im sure youll find yaself lost in a world of "huh!?../.. what?? and that wuz mint!" and then im sure youll b dling the rest of em. thanks for puttin em up (i had 2 and 6 and wuz wondering bout the rest of em... so Big Thanks!) (fave bit - though its hard to pic one- is probly the 360 down a very! decent stair section - well worthy of any props or animal dvd. about 50sec in on ed3_) danny!

BIIG THANKS for all the help guys!! 1final question... how do i get the remaining part (shaft) of the bolt out of the hub?? Is an "easy-out" the best thing.?? will be ordering some king bolts from tarty thanks!!
-
here we go yo... heres the scenario... put new rear tyre on, slide wheel back into frame, doing up fun bolts on king rear hub.... SNAPP!!! Yes kids thats right, the funbolt on my king rear hub (hd axle etc etc) snapped in half... leaving half of the bolt locked tightly inside the hub with the remaining head of the bolt sitting on my bedroom floor! QUESTION 1 - Can I use a steel bolt with same thread oviously and size from hardware shop?? (This is assuming when i use a tap to get the remaining bolt half out of the hub it works) QUESTION 2 - Does anywhere sell the King bolts?? (if answer to q1 is NO) QUESTION 3 - Has anyone else done this? howd you fix it??? Thanks in advance ..... Danny

for the 1st time last night i took out my trials bike (24inch) and my bmx... started riding the bmx first for about 30mins then switched over to my trials bike. Obviously theres huge weight and geo differences between them ... but for the first 10mins or so I couldnt do a thing on the trialsy! It felt gay, twitchy and gearing! haha i almost flipped the bike from pedalling. But after that first bit i found i could do more on my trials bike then i could before! it still felt not as normal as it usually did... but i was spinnning around on it so easily and backweeling some massiv stuff. Im just curious... how many people on this forum do actually ride bmx bike and a trials bike and what have you noticed from switching between the bikes ???? good or bad things from it.... danny.

thanks mate... yeah sounds like i can do better then the rhynolite these days ... stil like the smooth look of the dmr. but just had a look on chainreaction... seems like heaps of 24inch rims out there now... especially atomlab gi and now the pimplite at 600g and others.... ! Well at least its giving us more to choose from... but its now harder to chooose!! please post any recommended rims? (oh yeah iv been through the FAQ24inch section... ) cheers /thx danny
