Jamie: true! yes il have to experiment with that too... thanks! Its funny that wen i had my ET (no adaptors or booster) I never had any movement in the lever, It wud hit the rim and stop dead, so hitting my knuckles never ever happend! Now with a stiffer frame but having to use adaptors for vees im dealing with all this hassle over flex... I could be wrong but my thought is that the adaptors mean the calipers sit out too far from the frame, so the stifness of the frame is not as effective cuz the brake is further away (not inline with the frame like maggies wud be) and thus i now have to use boosters etc whihc i didnt need onthe ET and yet the ET felt better

Thanks ... thats exactly what i wanted to know stickin with vees is my preference, will continue to play around with getting everythign dialed. It all feels and works very well, just the knuckle hitting is the only downside. So thanks everyone for posting. Will continue trying different angles etc...

not sure if this is something that anyone else experiences or if im just being a silly old fart but if someone can help that wud be really ACE! thx in advance.. K, got a karbon with vee on rear, feels awesome never slips etc (XTR levers, linearslick cables, ultimate arms, coust/sink pads and adaptor with salsa booster), but i keep on pullin on the lever quite hard on big gaps etc and finding its hittin my middlefinger knuckle and shreddin it up something silly. Its all f**ked up now (been ongoing problem for few months) to the point i dont wanna ride cuz il hit it again. Iv tried moving the lever further along the bar (closer to stem) so that it cant reach the middle knuckle but it just ends up feeling shit cuz my brake fingers pullin on the very end of the lever. Tried moving lever up and down no difference, and finally tried setting it so the lever only moves the smallest amount before lockin up but this gives me 2 problems - catching the brake lever wen pullin up on bars and f**king sore wrists after about 20mins riding!!! dunno if iv explained it right but yeah i really like the vees and the cables everything etc is all new and works mint! Its just the arms flex enough that the lever is hittin my knuckles and killin em... No im not considering gloves, its too hot in oz for em and i hate the feel of em. AM curious though.. its been soo long since iv used maguras (yes iv posted that i was considering them before... :$) Woudl the lever flex less cuz theres no flex liek there is in the arms of the vees?? If so im seriously going to have to consider that option unless some1 can help me out with ideas ?? im thinkin that 4bolt booster and the superstiff rear end with maguras would stop the problem, but im not sure as i dont remember if mags flex at all?? ANY HELP is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!! thanks fellas..

well its probly nothing new now but got about 5minutes of riding in today before a loud snapping noise ended what would have been a mint sunday arvo ride ripped the 06 pro2 rear hub shell apart in one smooth preload before a wheelswitch. Anyways im aware that hope is great to deal with and that they are aware of the problem with the hub shells and the new 07 ones are better. My main concern is i bought the hub from chainreactioncycles and im not sure whether to muck around dealing with them or go to HOPE directly?? Keeping in mind i live in Australia and post/time/hassle etc id like to keep to a minimum... Thanks for any comments advice on a speedy hassle free warranty claim!! danny

Jealous... danny (walks over to corner of room and wipes dust off the karbon... will ride u soon one day... oneday!)

the ozonys gets my vote... one sweet frame. definately the best comp bike out of them and very well thought out throughout. solid.

i used to use my echo pure hanger on my et 24 as well as using a ashton 26 hanger on it... If you cant get one... which i have a few spares (all used but better then nothing..) pm me if needed danny

THANKS ADAM (bigman) I needed a good bitch slappin for being such a gram granny! yeah it is pretty light... just got me thinkin wen i see people like stan runnin magura rear hope disc front and stil lighter bike then mine considering my frame is very similar weight. anyways i just been out playin round with all my spare maggie parts lookin for the best one... they all felt like shit!! lol so iv put a new cable in cleaned everything and did 10pushups so its all sorted now! lol thx to ash as well... good point! WELL VEES it is... and they feel mint2! (scampers off to see where else i can save weight from...) danny
-
thx for pointing out some good points jack... after 11 years of trials i do prefer vees... but have ridden both and can do either ok will put maggie on for a month or so see how it goes. if its crap il go all hermancestyle with the adaptors and booster to save 2grams lol cheers danny

well iv always been under the impression vees arelighter (without adaptor and booster stil are lighter) than hs33s but given that i needed heatsink adaptors and a booster given how far the vees sit out from the frame it increased the flex over maguras... so i added a salsa booster (only 1 that wud fit) and today did the math and found out im wayy offf!! Leavin out cables etc it breaks down like this.. adaptor 86gms ultimate caliper 182gms xtr lever 166gms salsa boosta 117gms total - 551gms!! one hs33 magura - 315gms (yes its without booster - but my frame doesnt need one, even with 1 wud b lighter!!) so just a thing to keep in mind for all tha weight weenies out there like myself... given how many frames have 4bolt mounts... maggies are more often than not could be lighter. Thanks to stans ozonys for gettin me thinkin on that subject - damm thats one light bike!! my karbon is goin on a diet now!!
-
that is seriously hot! Wish trials companies put that much thought and stuff into trials specific parts. Hope the guy behind this makes more.. i think enough people on here have already said they'd buy one... ME2!!
-
looks insanely fun to ride .. didnt like em bikes wen i saw the pics of frame only but in black and complete looks fkn ace lighter then my karbon is atm!! good effort!! danny PS_ do you stil have that fsa carbon stem (0s115xc i think)???
-
well im goin to go against the grain of this thread... i do have a grind on the front and i luv it If u ride in wet weather or through any wet sections and use rim brakes without a grind itll most probably leave u with no brake at all. I find running a grind and just some cheap shitty pads is a good alternative. Works well in the wet and not too grabby in the dry. It still allows modulation for stoppies and loads of control wen gappin to front etc. only needs one grind will be fine for a long time and give good brake performance in all conditions... just dont use trials specific pads as people have already said will be waay too grabby if u have grind on front. I use light grind (lasts forever) and fibrax pads with metal backings... cheap and last loong time too. simple!

thanks everyone took the advice of loosening off the lever and rode for 5mins then tightened. i think its ok now but will find out from todays ride. got some old sd7s nowt spesh.. will check out the new ones if problem continues. thanks!!!
-
Wat Bigman said... but i did have one but it was a silly mod. Wish id had the 26! they were so fresh i stil remember droolin over a vid of dani comas on his 26 DD Megamo shreddin a clean section in some BikeTrials.com cd.

brilliant idea... will try that! THANKS:D

thanks i have tried... will probly continue tryin different positions til it feels right again. nah mate iv used vees for few years now. it was feeling fine til i moved my bars/levers.. im sure they are in same position as before. It could be that the position of the lever along the bar is too far in/out il try em out tomorrow. Oh and my armshave got as little return tension on as possible.. jsut enough to take upthe slack. Thanks for suggestions Thanks mate.. i was thinking the same thing.. maybe my fingers hurting cuz i pull the lever in then its got nowhere to go (no flex) so its like im pullin on soething that wont budge so it hurts. Will have to have another look at it tomorrow. Its such a pain in the arse cuz the brakes are awesome n iv just started holidays, so keen to ride my levers are run about 45deg angle down from horizontal.. compared to most people i think my levers are fairly flat. Feels really nice on rear wheel and surges. I might just have to spend more time experimenting til it feels right again... Thanks!!

hey guys ok im not a skirt wearing nancyboy but lately the amount of pain im gettin in my rear brake finger has been incredible. Its actually caused me to stop ridin cuz i cant pul the rear brake in anymore due to the pain. Iv got an awesome brake that doesnt slip at all and is super reliable and i think all iv changed from before was the angle of the bar and levers... they feel comfortable but wen i pull brake lever in its causing pain. Before some1 says just harden the fk up ... im not a newbie, this is my 11th year ridin trials and iv spent most of my working life as a mechanic so my hands are pretty much solid. as this pain has only jsut started im hoping its something that can easily be fixed. ideas??? my brake setup - xtr lever, ultimate arms, odyssey linear slick inner and outer, coustsink pads, salsa booster.. almost no flex at all.. very firm feeling brake. My only thought is maybe its cuz iv moved the levers maybe im grabbing it at a weird angle, but iv looked and its all the same either side. So idunno but i hate riding in gloves and would really like to solve this problem asap. Any guidance at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance Danny
