  3. haha wow how times have changed! ... at risk of being flamed : When Mart brought out the ET (stil being used as the geometry basis for Leeson, Curtis, 24UK etc) It was an absolute mission to sell them things and they ended up being rediculously discounted so that he could get rid of them. Now people are wanting these things soo much. In my experience the ET was the ULTIMATE all round bike. Absolutely spot on for the street dawgs and stil a really nice ride for the natty boys. Im not puttin this out to diss anyone... i just think its funny how they are now soo wanted. Maybe if people didnt sleep on the sweetness of the ET wen it first came out, there wud have been even more company offering great cheap options in 24" I love 24s and i really hope the new Ashton 24 lives up to the somewat slept on predecessor that wore tha name of one of the most talented all round uk riders period.. Ed Tongue. Cant wait to see how many people buy one to be part of the fad Fun bikes though

  10. hey guys.. can someone with a fourbolt mount frame (not built up) please measure for me from the centre of top bolt hole to centre of bottom bolt hole in straight line. As demonstrated in pic. I need an accurate measure please!! This is straight up and down (centre to centre). thanks danny... *thanks to TartyBikes.co.uk for pic
  11. ^^^^true!!^^^^ soo love seeing these posts "my first bike" open it up and its like a deng machine with all trialsparts and maguras and shit lol. Old xc steel jobbies 4tw some people will know wat im talkin bout and agree some wont thats cool. Thing is we started on shit bikes and had to learn control balance technique etc first. anyways tryall rims are decent... i luv mine. plenty strong enough imo. Cut em holes into squares to save weight if u wanna. Might do mine now that iv got a broken knee and so cant ride at all. dunno if u can stil get em but the spank oobah stiffy was meant to be pretty light and strong too... think wiggle has some maybe. danny
  12. koxx karbon 9.3kg atm but will be even lighter with new rear tyre! (20.502646lbs) thats on proper electronic scale. hope hubs ti bolts in rear, ti hope skewer in front, revolution spokes on front, dbl butted on rear, tryall rims, xtr levers, carbon bar, stem, all ti bolts, ti bb, magnesium pedals, wipperman chain, ultimate rear, xtr front, ritchey zmin front tyre, currently tryall rear - to be replaced by big betty, control fork.. money well spent imo - stil strong enough, stiff, and rides really nice. yo wayne, hope that helps bro. wen you in oz next il put you bike on a diet lol danny..
  13. ok so i log in to msn this mornin all ok same as every other single f**king day. nothing has changed now i click to sign in and it sits there doin the silly rotating sign saying its signing me in... then BEEEP! "signing infailed because u typed int he wrong password!!" wtf!!!! i havent changed any thing... iv tried for bout half an hour to get online and its f**ked!! someone please help me :@ im going crzy!!!! danny... lol... wtf it just let me in... first try after posting this! stil i dont get how it wudnt let me on for so long ...
  14. thanks guys - really good posts even if its hard to draw a clear conclusion. Im going to stick with vertical dropouts and run gears (if i dont like em - will go bk to s/s) . the only real appeal of horizontal to me is the cleaner "look". though im stil thinking bout it... horizontal does look sweet and although i rarely bust my hanger its definately a plus. anyways will probly go for vertical . thx though danny..
  15. If "Derf" reads this please post how it went for you?? Thanks guys for you input. some really great ideas out there.. Im starting to lean towards vertical dropouts and derailleur n actually running some gears. Do u use the gears on yours matt? I just cant decide yet cuz i think the horizontal dropouts look fairly neat and theres no hanger/derailleur to bend/snap! (though i havnt hit it in ages.. ) What would people recommend?? Its been years since iv had a trials bike with gears, and considering itll have a seat, it may well be worth it. thx danny..
  16. hey guys... well im just completing custom frame order and am stuck on whether to have gears and vertical dropouts or singlespeed and horizontal dropouts.. Was keen on gears as it means can actually use the bike to ride around on instead of just trials alone. But then i think horizontal drops would be cool as you just use some chaintensioners (bmx style) and have no derailleur to hit, looks better imo and my only concern is how do people with horizontal drops (call;ing mod riders and mod/stock guys ere) find it? does the wheel move on big stuff? and is it a bit of a b*****d to setup (get the wheel straight). I rode bmx for years and had no problems but that was brakeless and with big ass 14mm axles! any advice for or against would be helpful danny...
  17. needs 135mm spacing on stock!! personally i dont think they look that great, wud prefer if brake mounts were on the top side of stays. I think there has got to be more to a frame than just light weight. ithink the design could be better. 1.3 is pretty impressive though. just realized it would build to 9.1kgs with my parts on it!! will wait for other people to test it first
  18. lol thx i think decision made... curtis!!
  19. thx for you post rich. really appreciate that information so i can make an informed decision. im pretty sold on the curtis now and will be confirming order this week that does sound pretty awesome customer service for uk people how clive likes to keep an eye on his frames, i think if i lived over id probably go with it. There's something about the look of the curtis imo, dunno wat exactly that inspires confidence in the frame. I think it resembles more of a bmx influence and just looks solid. thanks everyone!
  20. as it says... am ordering a curtis and wanna get same length as the ashton et frame... cud some1 measure it or if u know please post thanks ... told you it wuz quick!
  21. thanks guys - going for the curtis boon, ye mate i did have one ordered. Will place a new order though, emailed gary. sure sounds like the way to go. thx for you help! they're more solid looking imo 2. going to get clear coat, vee mounts etc shud b mint! (what length tt u got? - id like to get bout 1025wb) leedstrials - ye for sure, sounds a real pain for people outside of uk with that bb setup. cheers danny
  22. ^^very helpful post.. thanks ^^ anyone ask matt b about the curtis for me - get him to post up ere if poss?? the leeson just looks like a hassle with the bb/etc... shame
  23. hey guys... im outta action at the mo witha broken knee, so been spendin lots of time thinkin bout riding and bikes iv had and how much fun i had whilst riding my ET 24. And im thinking id lke to get another 24" bike asap. Would just get a complete geo copy of the ashton et frame, as i felt this was one of the nicest riding bikes and the geo felt spot on for fun street and lots of bmx influenced riding. So I wud be looking at a frame only with exact geo copy of the et... But which company wud be the best option?? Leeson - Im aware there are lots of 24" leesons about so they must be nice, Do most people get their leesons in the ET geo? Whats the deal with the bb? Do u get an ISIS bb to fit that wide shell?? (website looks bit outdated showing square taper 1) Whats the general impression of build quality, longevity? Iolo - they look well priced. ANy info as to quality and finish? Fresh - have spoken to Todge and unfortunately (he was my 1st choice) hes in Italy and wont be back to do any frames for some time Curtis - I keep coming back to curtis when i look at options.. Just really like the overall finish and look of them bikes. Berridges is the shit!! They are however the most expensive and id want to know for sure its worth it. Any info on these or other options i may have missed would be great? I was holding out for the charge ti 26" (da shit!) but akkers says its proto only *I live in oz, so theres the extra cost of post etc, But It means that any warrantys etc are pretty useless 2 me as id get it welded locally instead of sending all the way bk to uk. **wud have to have v mounts as well and be suited a 400mm fork like a pashley oh and please dont mention the 24uk... imo they just look wrong. THANKS danny..
