  1. I think somethings a bit worn out...
  2. Thats an alternative for me, ABF on a single weber 45 or twin 40s. Or possibly even twin 45s..Though that might be a bit overkill. My brother is trying to source a VR6 so I kinda want sort a decent 4 pot set-up before he finds a cheap VR6 otherwise I'll get home from work one day and he'll of started fitting it.
  3. Skoze, did you get a better quote for painting? Also, Robin..Is there a 1.8t in your 'rocco nowadays? I think the engine is coming out of mine soon as part of its overhaul but I cant decide wether to stick with original, go period or go for a 1.8t.
  4. Anyone on here use instagram? I started a page for my work/paintshop thing today. Not necessarily car related but showcases the sort of paintwork I do that pays the bills. Also news on the Sciroccos front. Finding it very difficult to source good front wings. Wishbones, bushes and coilovers have been ordered. ARBs are to be blasted and painted soon along with everything else thats unboltable fron the underside..Pictures will appear soon.
  5. A massive chunk of that will be down as labour charge. Actual paint time and materials costs are quite low compared to the hours spent on preparation. Best way to keep the cost as low as possible is to strip 99% of it yourself and deliver them as bare a shell as possible. I take it youre after a full in and out respray?
  6. Out of curiosity what did they quote you and for what work?
  7. I'm a painter! My spray gun is fairly powerful but I'm not sure it could hit brighton...
  8. Is there a small inline fuel filter in the bay somewhere?
  9. I wonder how the emergency servies personel feel being actively involved in situations like this. Must be made of tough stuff.
  10. Dont say things like that..Welding up what I have was time consuming enough. I'm thankful its just the 1 wing thats need the attention so far.
  11. Just for those who're interested. My first go at a bit of panel resto. Its a bit rough still but theres a fair bit more welding to be done and sanding..lots of sanding..
  12. Just for anyone who is mildly interested. Strip down for painting has started. New steering rack, rod ends, wishbones and coilovers have all been ordered. Also made a lower strut brace at work. More updates next week. No rush on this one.
  13. Nerrr..Aint interested in an engine swap, not for this one. Just a good scrub up and a few mild mods. Mild road cam and a weber will more than suit my needs.
  14. I was gunna go for a single 45 rather than a twin set-up. Not after particularly massive powergains..Its just something to play with. Only be going for a stage 1 cam..Stage 2 at the very most..
  15. You be quiet. There'll be no talk of bodge it bike carb set-ups on this one. Also..I have a job so..they're not 'expensive'.
  16. Thinking about setting the 'rocco up with a dcoe 40 or 45 after its had a rebuild..Opinions?
  17. No major plans. Its 98% original and has good history. It just needs a little paint here 'n' there and it'll be spot on. I'll probably drop it onto some RAs and maybe lowering springs but not much more than that. Needs a damn good wash too.
  18. Because webers go for upwards of £500 and bike carbs can be had for £60ish... Space is another isue too, theres not really a great deal of room at the front and the bike carbs are shorter/smaller and tuck behind the radiator nicely.
  19. Would you recommend a different set of carbs over those then? I'm not set in stone on which ones to use just yet.
  20. GSX1100F carbs, early 90's I believe. Currently being worked onto a cammed ABF (2.0l 16v mk3 golf engine). I basically want to know how best to weak them for accurate fueling. When I did a conversion like this before it'd do a tank of fuel in 80ish miles around 3mpg..Hoping for a bit more than that this time. But also trying to get it to be a reliable (ish) starter too.
  21. Can someone in here point me in the direction of a good detailed guide to tweaking/setting up and tuning of bike carbs?
  22. Jardos used it before Im sure. I vaguely remebers photos of a roof a little while back. Ive not used it before but isnt it a sort of thick rubbery type paint?
  23. I'm a painter/have a workshop/access to a big paintshop..Bit far from you mind..
