What happened with the plans for another t-f car meet? My 'rocco is literally an MOT away from being on the road.

Those who are into detailing/polishing. I'ev just started sanding back my last coat of lacquer. Started at 1200 then 1500, then 2000. I'm now onto 2500 grit wetting and sanding. After that, what would be the next best step? Its lacquer over black and it all looks a little grey at the minute. Whats the best way to get finish super shiney? Normally I just leave everything as the raw painted finish which 98% of the time looks good enough. Wasnt possible on this particular occasion.

I checked ebay straight away, only 1 and its £20000!!

Vixen S2. Had a half cage, harnesses, looked like a 2.5" single centre exit exhaust and a lady driver

Spotted this in the local co-op today.

Biggest issue I have with areosol paints is the tip. The circular spray pattern just doesnt lay as nicely as a traditional paint gun fan type pattern.

Seeing all these photos of your 'rocco makes me sad. Mines just sitting on the drive under a tarp.

Im tempted to throw mine onto a set soon to get the lows going. Its currently on 40 drop springs over the standard shocks. Its not really going to be in daily use so I cant decide wether to go for a better branded set or not..

A few interesting cars parked in town today; This one had a big block chevy worked to around 9.3L, the owner claimed a 0 - 60 of 2.5s! All snapped on a Nexus 4. I was there mostly to look at paintwork as I'd heard there where a few custom jobs. At a distance more where stunning but upclose I was a little disappointed. Was a decent way to spend a sunday anyway. It also got me thinking about metal flake lacquering the Scirocco when its finished..

Bingo. Dream Machines it was. There portfoilio does look good and the guys certainly talk the talk. I'll be pretty much going in as a direct competitor to them. Its good to know what I'm up against. I'll be going over this guys bike again in the same colour F.O.C at the end of summer so I'll detail the work at the time. Hopefully I'll have a bit more to show before then though.

Well the bike in question was painted by very reputable company. They're in the top few hits on google if you're looking for that sort of thing and thats the price paid by a chap I know. Hes over the moon with it and it does look great as a complete package. Looking at from a sprayers point of view though, I'd be ashamed to let it leave my workshop like it is. The backs of the panels havent been touched and the underside of the tank is rough and dusty, like overspray and sanding dust etc. For £1300 I would of expected a waaayyy higher standard and I was just wondering if that was a fair price and a fairly standard practice when painting bikes. I will in the next few weeks be going into airbrushing and motorcycle specific spraying so I'm just doing a bit of research. To me it would of been maybe an £800 job but I'd of done the backs and undersides to the same high standard as the visual areas. Maybe thats just me though?

Specific to motorcycles or does he spray anything and everything? I'm a sprayer too. I need to know if £1300 is expensive/cheap for a tank, side panels, rear section and mudguards. The paint is 2k 3 stage metallic red.

Has anyone in here had a bike painted before? I'm talking tank, panels, rims in a special like metallic flake or something? I have a few questions if you have.

Probably be worth checking. This one was that bad the steering wheel jumped and skipped in your hands as you turned the wheel. The front wheels just used to sort of click and twitch rather than steer. Also while I'm here. Will the mk2 16v basic spark control unit/ecu thing run an ABF engine? I've settled on a weber'd ABF for the 'rocco and I'm looking for a simple method of finding a spark. Unless the ABF ecu is suitable though I've always thought they where a little more advanced than the mk2 stuff..

Its on 170k though the gaiter was split and the seal and bearing perished quite badly, I think water has been in there a while. The rack housing was full of mud/clay looking stuff.

That was going to be my next question!!! If there was a quick rack available! You beauty! Dont suppose you know tha standard racks ratio for a comparison?
