Am I being a twat? Someone has advertised a shell of a mk2 Scirocco forsale for £500 ono on the basis that in 2008 it was a show car..The car has since been stripped of its wheels, engine, interior and all glass and they're advertising it as an 'ex-show car'. The paint work has also started to deteriorate and the lacquer is peeling in places. Am I wrong to say that its a ridiculous price to ask? Theyre asking for a premium price based on the cars history but in its current state its nothing more than a black bare shell in need of work..

I had an old Scirocco 1.6 carb (before ripping it out and dropping a valver in). It used to cut out after short periods of heavy load. Turned out that the little plastic pipe on the pre carb filter had twisted and was restricing fuel supply, only spotted it when we removed the filter as the twist was pushed inside the black rubber hose and hidden from view. Might be worth chaging them.

Anyone interested in owning a set of these? E31 Turbines, 16 x 7.5 ET 15. There is a full set of 4, they all look the same so just look at the photo 4 times and you'll get the idea

As it stands..For the company I currently work for and for this particular type of industry I'd say I was easily in the top 20% in terms of pay, so pretty good. Conditions aren't bad either. However, the new firm have informally said that the money is better, we're talking £3 - £4 an hour better to start with and it also includes potentially international travel, all expenses 2 week international holiday a year + 4 weeks off as normal. It is a step up and a massive step forward, definately a career maker. We're just about to have a contract renewed with a client at work as well based on the quality of work I delivered on the last contract (everybody did well, just my section (before I started) used to be sub-contracted, its now done in house etc) so I don't want to jeopordise that contracts success by leaving my current employer in the lurch..Never thought there would be so much to consider when it came to changing jobs. I'll go with, wait until I get a concrete offer then talk to my current firm. See how negotiations go.

Half the issue is that I'm quite happy where I am. I didn't look into leaving, this new firm just rang up out of the blue, invited me in for a look around this afternoon. I did say I would need 2 - 4 weeks but I think your right on maybe extending that a bit. That is one of the options I want to leave available, if it doesn't work out at the new firm I want to be able to go back. Very important to leave in good order and on good terms, hence the dilemma.

Fortunately this hasn't happened yet, touch wood it never will. I imagine they'd struggle though. Its one problem with small firms I guess. Mixed opinions, I'm leaning towards an informal chat with a manager on the shop floor over a brew one morning...
-
Right, currently work for a small family owned business (20 - 25 guys). Looking at leaving to move to a much larger firm, not a competitor, within the next 2 - 3 weeks. My problem is that I'm currently the only person who does what I do at the current firm and if they have any downtime in my department it could cost them quite a lot of money..I also have an apprentice to consider. I can't decide on when or how to let my manager know what I'm planning...Do I wait until I get an offer from the new firm and then hand my notice in? Or shall I have a quiet chat before hand and let them know that I might be leaving in the near future.. Opinions..

I'm fortunate in that there isn't even a farm within maybe 2 or 3 miles and the nearest village probably 3 or 4 miles away, I've seen 1 dog walker in the woods and my building is well out of sight of the main walk way. Its Forestry commision land so I'm kinda hoping it never gets checked on and they'll survive for a few years...

Theres quite a bit missing in the photos, they're just from the phone. The structure has a lot more bracing under all the planks and we added legs down either side. The thing is rock solid, bet you could drive a car off it. It leans just the right way as well, you sort of naturally whip off it and it turns you away from a head on crash into a tree too which is nice. I need to look at building up another drop, a higher one, and a set of jumps further down to finish off this particular line. Then its on with building the next one!
-
RIght then..All of the above is now scrapped. New locaton, new bigger better build. Started work on the trail below around a week ago. Starts above the log laying on the floor at the top right about 1/3rd of the way into the picture. Down round this little berm. From the berm over this little kicker, its not high but it throws you a good 15 foot. Land the above kicker and you're straight onto this drop almost immediately. I did manage to finish it off and shape the run in trail and a bit of a run out trail and had a few goes, its mega smooth and rather fast. Gets a bit hairy after you land, the trees get a bit denser and come up rather sharp, tis muchos fun! Much better photos needed...

You could get a bit more life out of the paint by lacquering it. Ultimately, anodising is the one when it comes to coating cranks.

My set-up, sumped 600+ litres, around 50 fish etc etc. Any questions I'll try my best. Try and get a 100ish litre set-up to start with and also get an external canister type filter, they're easier to live with and much easier to clean than the in-tank types, I happen to have a Eheim (the best) filter spare (forsale) as I don't need it anymore if you're interested. To start with, get a tank, get a substrate in there and fill it up, get it running and cycled for around 3-4 weeks and you shouldn't have to many issues with tropicals. *That picture is hideous, taken from my phone. I've just added 2 new lights so I should be able top get better ones from the camera now.

For small parts like that a decent cartridge type mask, such as the 3M ones will do when using 2k. I often ditch the air-fed at work when doing little bits with 2k as having an assortment of airlines trailing around the place can be a bit of a nusiance. Saying that..I do stand in front of a massive waterwall extractor too... Black chequer the bumper and then yellow the bonnet! Roll in true crash-test style!

I'll keep my eyes open for a 90, don;t fancy the coupes at all. Sell me yours!!

So what car do I need to buy to find this engine??
-
2.2 turbo would be nice I think..
-
I'm after another motor..I fancy something with an Audi 80 Saloon Quattro Sport 2.2 20v feel..If such a thing exists? Does anyone know what range of platforms/engines where available in the 80 saloons? most listed on ebay seem to be 1.8s..
-
I wanna see you rollin' in another mucus green saab soon.

Is that in the 2k budget? He's had the BMW what...A week? Thats like..8 years in Jardo land!

Too fat, too heavy, power is spread to thinly between too many wheels. Look elsewhere. My work college had one before his DC5, he reckoned the scoob wouldn't get anywhere it. Cammed up 106s will stick with them, Type Rs will leave them, I bet a well set up A3 would too If you've got the rally look bug I'd be looking at Evos but thats a personal preference.
