  1. would the slick not be better than the linear slick as you can get it in 1.8 mm and its cheaper? would the extra .3mm make a difference? edit: how about the snafu astorglide too from here... http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/?1FaNQtiXw9p...G3Gk1NQ7RdHAZI=
  2. hey all, whats the best cable to run with vee's, i've ben looking through other posts and i tinkits between clark, odyssey linear slick and odyssey straight. any ideas? steve
  3. quite alot then from just two comments, love your ittle picy of the man by the way, he's funny, he ha
  4. cheers for all the advice everyone, as i mentioned earlier i am being a bit ahead of myself as the bike will arrive in the next couple of days, hence that really long cable, and the fact the rear one is so badly zip tied on, it is what the previous owner did!! from what people are saying it looks like the deore up front(with new pads?, as i have no clue what is on it now, probably nothing!) and a hs33 at the rear. what is the difference between the hs33 and hs11 apart from £20 odd quid? is the hs33 worth the extra, i'm gonna go advertise for a maggie now... steve edit: pissin-on-the-fence, it should be a good fun bike to ride, find out when i get it i suppose, just wanted an all round kind of bike, what are you thinking of getting?
  5. i think that is what i will do, hs33 are pretty cheap really. steve
  6. hey guys, no need for that, yeah i get what you guys are says...just be aware of extra costs basically. the bar spinning thing is an exellent point, because that does happen tones. mmm? i just don't know. like i said, haven't actually ridden it yet so the v's may be fine, just getting excited and a bit ahead of myself :"> already got new crank arms too (Y) my mate who goes on about disks does ride a full sus and likes fast hills as well as play riding so he probably needs them more than me. i was adding it up, v's, got them so free magura's, about £50 secondhand disks, £80 for brakes and £100 for wheels secondhand so disks will be loads more...maybe i should just see how i get on with v's. it has deore and avid v's. they any good? been out of riding for a few years so don't really have a clue anymore also drilling rims with 12mm bit in between the spokes. good or bad idea?
  7. was thinking of grinding my rims as there only cheap ass ones that i don't care about. to be honest i have not even taken delivery of it yet, hopefully monday or tuesday (fingers crossed) so it needs a bit of tlc straight away! its just my mate has not shut up about brakes, and to be honest he is probably right, just a bit unsure of spending more on the brakes than i did the bike!! so maybe getting hydraulic rears may be a good idea... here it is, £180 for it, what do you think? will be ok for a bit till things start to annoy me, then i'm going to pummel my bank account (Y)
  8. hey all, i'm a newbie...obviously...so be nice, been out of riding for a few years now, then on a bit of a spur of the moment thing went and bought myself a bike. i know this is a trials forum and i am interested in that too but am more into just having fun and doing most things really! anyhow, i have vee brakes at the moment, deore and avid, and my mate says i'm gonna want disks pretty soon, but i used to be quite happy with vee's, even if they were weak at times, what does everyone think, will i really, i like doing big drops, jump and general street riding. would hydraulic rim brakes be better?be a lot cheaper than building new wheels etc. how progressive are rim brakes? what do you all use and think? take it easy all, steve
