Hmmm interesting to hear about this brake of Lukes, as in 3 days it should be mine Hopefully the bike shop will sort it when Luke gets it serviced Gareth
-
Yeah mine do that a little also. When I first got my bike I was so eager to ride but I could see them wobbling forwards and backwards... I think that is normal though!!? Gareth
-
Snapped! Also.....oh No Not Another One!

Cool, shall be in touch tommorow! Fingers crossed for semi okay weather Gareth ps: the bold bits sounds good to me, small and fairly close!

Those look pretty funky! I regularly get sore feet when riding, kind of like cramp (maybe it is!), could this be down to poor choice of footwear? I use an ancient pair of vans skateshoes - the sole is almost worn through (some places have!) and was considering buying some new trainers. Are trials shoes such as the ones linked to worth it over skateshoes - what are the advantages? What are the ideal "characteristics" for a trials shoe other than grippy, flat soles? Do you want thin flexible soles for 'feel', or thick stiff soles? Cheers! Gareth

Hiya, as long as its not super windy /rainy like today then I am up for a ride tommorow, Friday. What kind of places where you thinking of going to? (Im not very good with directions/ finding obscure places I havent been to before!) Gareth
-
Hiya, I have pashleys on my Leeson, which is supposed to have a 1020mm wheelbase... I will measure it later and let you know! Gareth

Very cool vids I have always admired Felixes smooth and controlled riding, and these videos were no exception. I think the riding was just as good as on the BT, but I do agree with some of the comments above that he doesnt look as comfortable on it perhaps. I also like watching people ride 24" bikes, as I ride 24" too. I think the second video should have used Apocolyptica throughout Gareth

Hey Hehe nice reply! Right up my street so to speak, Im a second year physics undergraduate, currently studying for exams! I didnt think of actually working it out, I was more looking for a "pinch it up, and then an extra quarter turn" or something, but I can see what your getting at! I will stick some lube on in the short term then and when I get chance Ill get some grease. Thanks, Gareth

Hey guys! I have my new Hope stem now Being the non mechanically minded person I am, how tight is 5NM for the handlebar screws? I just did them up fairly tight with the allen key long ways (so I couldnt put down much torque) and it seemed fine, but I thought Id make sure on here? Also it says to grease the threads... now I dont have any grease but I could put some finish line chain lube on instead? Cheers! Gareth ps: It rides excellent now, much better control! Felt like Felix hopping on upturned crates on the beams (nice and smooth, for me!)

Hi I have been running Heatsink blues for a few months now, and I have been very impressed! Very good hold, bite, wear rate is low on a low/medium grind and they dont appear to have worn the grind much either! Regarding the cnc backings, I havent tried them but I remember reading that they do make a subtle difference, stiffer / less spongy feel at the lever. Hope that helps a little, Gareth ps: I want some of the CNC backings

Hiya Thanks for your kind offer! I live pretty close to Chester, but for the next 7 weeks or so I am in York (uni). What make is your bike out of interest? I didnt think Leeson made over 1040 and the Zoot isnt that long? I will PM you about your bike Thanks, Gareth
-
Yup I like the look of the Hope stem! Mine is arriving tommorow! Here are all the options you can have with the hope: LINKY Gaz

Hey guys! Im at York with my Leeson! Im a beginner also! I quite like riding on campus, there isnt much but it can be fun! Thats the furthest I have ventured though! My gf is up this weekend and its her Birthday so I dont really think I will be able to ride this weekend We will have to arrange to meet up though and ride I have important exams in 2 weeks so I wont have much time to ride, but then I am free for 2 whole weeks!! And Im in York for the first 3 weeks of the hols to as Im doing some research So Ill have some weekend and after work to ride! Gareth ps: Sorry for all the !!! just a little excited I may have someone to ride with!
-
Hiya, yeah Im 6ft 2! Not really a shorter rider! I will have to try and go on a group ride in the summer (dont have any riding buddies) and maybe some kind person will let me have a hop around on a longer bike.. I do like the look of Adamants and Kots but I dont know how much of a difference it would be from my Leeson?! Gareth
-
Hiya Tomm I wouldnt get your hopes up about me selling it, I still really do like it But if I do decide Ill let you know! Ill give this stem a try for a bit and see how it goes! I dont think I can justify spending this years student loan (and overdraft!) on another bike! Supposed to be getting driving lessons this year ... I wonder when most of the major companies will have 24 inch frames out? Gareth

When I think back to the days of tricks and stunts, chainspotting etc as people have mentioned I do get a "fuzzy feeling"! I wouldnt say I properly rode trials back then as I did a little of everything, the best I could do was backhops and wheelies in trials! Riding was mylife back then, every day for hours, and all weekend. They were perhaps some of the best time of my life as far as biking goes. Crowds of us would ride for miles to some dirt jumps and jump until the sun went down Now I have no mates that ride, so Im always riding by myself which isnt quite as fun Looking at the positive side, back then I wanted a bash guard, and my dad made me one! Nowadays you just order from tartybikes etc and its there next day, cheap, shiny and strong! I would therefore say that trials as a whole is much better these days, but that I had more fun as a kid (on my "oldskool" Cannondale - Martyn Ashton was my idol, as well as Warner and Jez Avery!lol) Argh, I want to vote for both! Gareth
-
Hiya, Yeah definately just in it for fun! LOL at the thought of making a living out of trials with my skills! I am used to it now (felt really weird at first coming from a DH bike!) but I do feel there is something not quite right in the cockpit, we will see if the new stem helps at all Gareth
-
Ordered the 110 10 degree hope stem Sad perhaps but I love buying shiny new things! Cheers guys, Ill post more often and keep you informed on how I like it! Gareth Ps: should have it on the bike by the end of the weekend! pps: Should really true my front wheel before then also....
-
LOL you dont like THAT seat, or you dont like ANY seat ?! I think it looks great Gareth
-
Awesome, I didnt check CRC, I was looking on tartybikes Im about to order 110mm 10 degree rise black Hope stem, any last minute opinions before I click checkout!? LOL! Thanks for all the advice, Gareth
-
Cool, thanks. Right well if I get that Hope stem, 110mm, 10 degree Ill need new bars or a spacer. So, 1: any other suggestions for a stem that takes normal sized bars, or 2: any suggestions for bars? What are those fancy trials bars like, or should I stick with regular risers? (never tried those flat trials bars) 3: Anyone know if you can get a spacer from oversized to regular handlebars (that doesnt creak!Lol) Thanks again, Gareth
