MX = old. Get 8. Or, get MX, use that for a while, then upgrade to 8 so you can appreciate the immense difference. But seriously. i've not found anything wrong with Dreamweaver 8 yet. It suggests CSS, highlights invalid code, hell, it even validates. You can collapse and expand code, wrap text, and theres more keyboard shortcuts. I've never ever used design view, so can't really comment on that, but i'd imagine it to be as good as what i've seen in code view. Vi/Vim is fine if you want to look cool. Its in-practical and time consuming. Unless you are editing online, then its excellent, but for offline editing, or local editing where you are starting from scratch, or heavily hacking old code, its just a glorified notepad.
