    Petrol

What pisses me off, is that from tax on fuel they earn like 3 billion a year? The idea of petrol tax is to maintain the roads. Like f**k are they doing that, someone worked it out and only like 30% of the tax is put back into the roads, the rest is put into other random bollocks. Ash, hard to explain, but lets say the brake pads for your bike went up about 2000% everytime you bought a pair, because of the time pads last and so on it kind of relates, that's basically what drivers get. It also means frieght lorry's now cost around 420 quid a day to run. If you put the prices up, you lose business, simple as that. Fuel is a joke in this country, compare it to most other countrie's and it's almost 30% more expensive. Not to mention the quality is far, far worse. In japan you find less then 99ron at the pumps, over here you'll be lucky to find 99ron at pumps. (for japanese cars or higher powered cars, thats also the different normal and super Si, one is more reactive, but you only really see the benifits if the engine has been mapped for that ron of fuel)
  2. Er, as with all news items they've completely blown 4chan out of proportion. It's not a group of hackers, its a group of people with common interests, most of them just happen to be quite anti-social or completely not politically correct. It's also very true that hotmail accounts are often posted along with facebook accounts, or you are given instructions on how to find them. Also, pretty much every single image that is like a poloroid with a caption underneath it originated at 4chan. 4chan is definitely not for the close minded. There are much, much worse hidden forums out there though, some of which are really very scary.
  3. To be honest, no one really has completely stood out recently, last person to get SM was a few months ago and was Joe i believe?
  4. What. Yeah, my job is admin.
  5. Ah man, there was a thread on it, 3 questions in the Random Questions thread and another question in the Happy Thread.
  6. I work for a London communications agency, we employ almost 50 people in 3 offices, London, Cardiff and Worthing. We have 5 designers in London and 1 in Cardiff, my job involves liaising with them almost on a daily basis, making sure the sites i develop from their designs are to their satisfaction, working with them up in the London office to make sure it's again, as they want. I'm also allowed to look through CV's of applicants and discuss who to call in for an interview, given, not for design but i often read the applications for design anyway just to see who i might be working with in future. I then of course get to see who was picked from those applications. That extent enough to justify my "BS posts"?
  7. Do you actually have anything constructive to add or is it just your mission to be a dick in all your posts on TF?
  8. Of all people for it to happen too... Was such an awesome guy and always such a dude, Portsmouth rides, DJ rides. Even if he did poke fun at my cars, bastid. Such a tragic way to end such a good life.
  9. I do realise what they can earn and what companies think of graduates, and it isn't that. You don't earn as much as you think for design, certainly not anywhere near 40k. Really? I thought that's all they do...
  10. I'm in total shock. Feel for you Prawn, along with family and friends.
  11. Yeh man, my PC screen was almost crashing through the desk with the weight of those pictures!
  12. The only different i've personally heard is that there is a radio cut and another cut, one is short and therefore the actual red hot chilli peppers stuff is more abundant and does actually sound completely different, but is infact the same song, just shortened so sounds quicker. That may be what you're thinking of as i don't know of any other RHCP remix.
  13. Meh, maybe design is more different then i though, but from what i've seen and experienced from our design department it almost mimics the way development operates. Maybe it's cause we do the whole IA and strategy too but the pressure is immense, if you f**k up this design, nothing will make that site perform, the best CMS in the world can't make up for the fact that the designer ball's up'ed, and didn't follow the IA, or miss-understood, i can develop a site as much as i want but a design is the deal sealer. I can't really explain it but you have pressure from various different people, budget restraints, time restraints, guidelines to follow, and with the amount people are paying, if you do make a mistake they will come at you hard, i've been at the wrong end of it and it isn't pretty. It's also the innovation and common sense that educated people surprisingly seem to lack. We've just hired such a person and don't get me wrong, he has potentiol but he's a robot, used to the education system of being told what to do and just does it. College in no way shape or form prepared me for the new media industry, maybe university is different but i honestly can't see it being much different. future orange 660, was that sarcasm or? I'm not justifying not going to university, i'm just putting another perspective in. People always preach to teenagers that university is the be all and end all, and that missing it will end your life and you'll be put lids on pill bottles for the remainder of your days, but sometimes that isn't the case. In some ways i regret not going to university, not experiencing the lifestyle, not seeing where it might take me but there we go. The other pitch people put in is the money, and that you may start of more when leaving university, which may well be 100% true, however, i started off on a lower wage, yes, but i'm not up to a respectable wage and if i had gone to university i would currently be in my 2nd year with one left, and when i would of eventually left i may of started on the same as i am now but i, not having been to university have been earning for those 3 years, have 3 more years experience and will be on the same wage as a graduate where as the graduate is 15k in debt and has less experience. Also, about the placement stuff, having watched the interviewee picking process, a one year 'placement' is not weighted as much as one year real experience. Responsibilities are different, motives are different etc. Not to take anything away from placements, there a damn good deal for students in such positions. Meh, just putting in the other side of the university discussion.
  14. Have you listened to it? As with any club song there is various versions. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Waiting For (Rene Amesz & Peter Gelderblom's Booty).mp3 That's the one i've got and is the correct one, pretty sure there isn't many variations of it.
  15. Is Select still properly trading?
  16. Portfolio > Qualifications. Personally. From what i've seen and heard in the industry in my brief time in it, a decent portfolio and good character will get you a lot further then some college course ever will. Obviously if you graduated top of your class after a 5 year stint you'll breeze in, but sometimes real work experience is valued a lot more then class room experience. Warn you know, college/uni doesn't prepare you for the real thing, but if you get in the right company its often a very fun and good job to be in.
  17. Peter Gelderblom - Waiting For Awesome song, been listening to it for a few weeks now.
  18. Was tried a few years back but riders aren't really IRC savvy and was dropped very quickly.
  19. It's on at 9. Next week is the last one.
  20. You don't want to be on a search engine? Do you actually want any business of any sort? You are not getting my point at all. A well developed website is the difference between a successful site and yours. Why do you think company's spend an obscene amount of money on getting their website right. I can't really say how much our clients are charged but trust me, they wouldn't pay it for some rickety tables based website that doesn't appear on search engines, work for disabled people or be easy to expand (ie, less expensive for them in long run). Yes, you may do graphics but i'm talking about websites for Butlins, British Heart Foundation, Bluewater (the shopping centre) and many others. None of them do website development but they all care actually getting business and therefore a well developed website. Ignore mine and others advice if you wish, but at your businesses success be it.
  21. My car is made of cardboard, double sided sticky tape and expanding foam, but it works, why should i care? If any only business cares about their success they need to care about their website. Search engine, accessibility and expansion are just 3 things i can think of from the top of my head, but search engine rankings being the most poinyent.
  22. Huh? He died a few episodes back? You seem to know all the episodes but are completely clueless as to the plot, have you watched them in the wrong order or something?
  23. Wasn't you like stalking Jon M? Ringing him up, texting him, sending him messages and so on? Wasn't his site called ClickDeath? Wasn't his home page just a one page portfolio? Wasn't his site started by questions about himself? Cute. (been waiting so long to use the new smiley. )
  24. Well, i like sausage and cheese in a sandwhich, i like meatbull subways with extra cheese, i like VTEC, i also happen to enjoy RWD, i often partake in bowling so like that too. Dude, seriously, be a little bit more specific with what you want?
