Yeah, thats the one... I just had it so I know how you feel guys :- Wanna know what I did? Grab one of those Beechams hot lemon things, add your hot water, then a teaspoon of honey and a good couple of measures of whiskey. Have it about half an hour before you want to go to bed: it knocks me out and I sleep for AGES then wake up feeling loads better :ermm: I nailed Strepsils too, they're good. I just have this tickly throat now which is realy pissing me off, although I think it's going. Get well soon!

Do You Think The Moderators Are Doing A Good Job?
hititfaster replied to trials_pimp's topic in Chit Chat
When I looked at the title of this before opening it I thought, "here we go again", but I was wrong. I think Tom and Danny do a great job of keeping this place open for all you guys to use. At the end of the day, if it wasn't for them, it wouldn't be here at all, so for what my opinion is worth, they can run it just the way they want... the fact that they choose for this forum to remain a democratic and VERY free environment is great (I doubt it would have survived as long as it has if they didn't, but hey). This is a FORUM, right? You don't get warned for voicing your opinions unless they are offensive to others or unless there is good reason for it. I'm not gonna give examples, but there are plenty. If I was a mod and I chose to warn somebody, (with which they had a problem or thought it unfair) I'd have no problem speaking to them about it. That's just how I am, but can you imagine having hundreds of people nagging you, sending you PM's and e-mails and constantly asking questions or complaining when a topic about brake pads has been closed because it was repeating what another guy said yesterday (for example)? That's how Tom and Danny must feel! I think maybe there is some distance in this idea, but as someone said earlier, how difficult is it to organise? As far as I can see, the NMC works ok - yes there are going to be people that end up hanging around, but one person having to wait for a couple of weeks has to be better than having a mass of people all over the main forum causing havoc. Doesn't it? :P If people are really interested in getting the best from the forum then surely they won't mind a bit of a wait, and paying the real newbies some attention (answering q's and things that will get them noticed and get them validated faster). I've been staring at this computer screen all day now, I'm tired and hungry yet I'm still sat here :P You know what I think it means, being a SM or a MOD? You spend far too much time on here and not enough time on your bike :ermm: I say this generally... By all means bitch at each other and everyone on here, it's just a modern word for 'discussion' but don't be a muppet about it. If you can work with that and not be too offensive or wrong (in the context, "oh my God, that's soooooo wrong'), you don't even need to know who the MOD's and admin are :- Anyway, that's what I think. *shrugs, gets off soap box and walks off* -
This guy is speaking my language... I might do something like this as a next project! The Escort Mexico looks absolutely gorgeous, the only thing that might have made it better is if it was a Cortina :P haha!

I've just spent about 40 minutes looking aroung that site... lets just say I've got a few more ideas now :P Roll on Easter!

Thing you mean an anchor plate. DMR make them - you take the U brake mounts out (unscrew them) and fit this plate, which has the mounts in the right place for V brakes. As for the mounts, when I re-welded my Pash forks for my 24" wheels, all I did was carefully cut down the original weld - or around it as much as you can to prevent you cutting too deep and damaging the forks/frame - threaded a 5mm bolt in there and used it as a lever to break it off, tidied them and the forks up with a file and a flap disk on an angle grinder and re-used them. Easy as long as you're careful :P

It's a Tiger Avon: one of the Lotus 7 copies. Caterham bought the original moulds from Lotus and as far as I know still use them, this is just very similar... a replica. How rich am I? :P I'm not. I'm absolutely fooking brassic now, but I have a sweet little sportscar in my garage to show for it, not just a headache and a fat overdraft like most students.

Here's what I drive at the moment: (all loaded up ready for NASS '03 here :ermm: ) Here's what I'll be driving by the Summer (sometime): I've done loads to it since this was taken: K&N filter installed, exhaust re-worked to give more clearance all round (and proper silencer on now!), electrics almost complete, rollbar made and fitted, seatbelt points welded on... if all goes well it will be on the road for the summer!

Is that something similar to the Fly BMX Spanish BB? They tried to get it to catch on a while ago as BMXres were destroying MTB (euro) BB's and USA BB's were a bit old and heavy.

It goes slower with music running, but it's hardly rapid without :) Changed my default player to Winamp, that made a bit of a difference I think, and I got rid of all the icons in msconfig too. Also re-started and things were instantly better... why does that make such a difference? :S I'll probably re-install everything once all my deadlines are out of the way. I don't even want to risk losing all my work. Cheers for the advice guys, muchos helpful :)

I f**king love that place  It's one of my favourite places in the world (so far...) mostly because of the surf, but I've been there three summers in a row now, and I always look at the rocks everywhere. Couldn't take my bike though :ermm: Lovin that top pic, by the way! Check this pic:

By cheap I mean free if possible. I have a PC that I had built a couple of years ago, which generally runs OK. I don't know much about the spec. apart from the fact that it has 256mb RAM and an 80Gb hard drive. The problem is I do a lot with Photoshop and like playing music. If I have the two together, it's almost painful how slow things move on Photoshop... and if I press scan too I might as well walk away and leave it 15min  I've already done things like getting rid of as many of the icons on my desktop as possible and clearing out some crap from the system, but things are still sooooo slooooooowwwwww :ermm: Anyone have some quick tips I might be able to use to speed things up, or otherwise a bit of advice on what to upgrade to make things faster? I haven't defragmented it for a while, would that aid things? Thanks, Tom.

They are VERY grippy, although I'll be honest with you, I had problems with bits ripping off them as they fold under a bit. The best thing I can suggest to you is cut about 4mm off the pad and then ride them. As you don't have a grind they hardly wear down at all, you'll have no problems with them folding under and you get waaaaaaay less sponge in the brake too. My front ones are spot on now. I've actually gone back to my Heatsinks on the back, as I find them a bit more forgiving - the RIMJAMS just lock up and that's it :ermm:

I've got a really nice Seiko Kinetic at home (18th birthday present). I can't find one the same to post a pic, but I saw one almost identical in a jewelers in town the other day for £300. Also have this, which I bought when my loan came through last year. Nice for everyday use. I SOOOO nearly bought the one boon has, but it didn't suit me like this one does.

God only knows how you lot can turn a 'post a pic of your hot sisters' thread into a bendathon (Y)

Yeah, sure girls are evil, but they're just like my car: you give it petrol (affection and attention) and you've got the potential for a running motor (relationship or at least some good lovin'), but you need other crap like oil and water (meals out, alcohol, cheesy messages), then as long as you know where the right switches are you can turn it on ( :P ) but you have to watch out from time to time because there's a strange crack somewhere that leaks for days at a time and for some reason makes it behave very oddly :D Nah, I don't know about this one. I've met sincerely nice girls and ones who are more of Satans bitches, but it depends on the individual. You won't get with every girl you meet by being nice the ideal bloke because they seem to lie being messed around a bit, but do you really want to be with someone like that? Well maybe one night then :D :- I don't see a problem with it personally, it's just that I can't memorise enough biblical stuff to pull it off like Joel can, aaaaaaand: You see, those words go together like, well, they just don't (N) Young and intelligent these girls might be, but unless you have a genuine knowledge of, and interest in religion (or are prepared to blag big-style, ala Joel) they are duller than particularly dull dishwater. That's how I found them anyway. If you can get them off the topic of God, they can be ok, but given five minutes they're back to the same old... which just makes you want to get up, get another very large drink and go speak to some randoms.

Thank f**k you said that... I'd never seen that site before, and I was absolutely FUMING as I was looking at it. Even so, they've still put cats into bloody jars :- If there's one thing I can't stand it's people being cruel to animals. I think people that do that kind of thing should be punished in the same way as all the other pieces of social shit (rapists, murders etc) we have floating around. :- Grrrrrrrr... makes me sooooo angry!

I know someone who has EVERY mint cartoon from the mags in a binder folder too - he works at Halfords, so he gets the old staff room copies. It's probably the best bit of the mag!

One for the guys who have been around for a while! An original cast Mint Sauce keyring! As you can see, he's had a fairly hard life... a school bus related incident rendered him completely armless, but he's here to tell the story (Y) Does anyone else have one of these?

Bloody hell, what a shitstorm this turned into! :P Some funny shizzle going down though, I quite like these 'discussions'. Bearing in mind that I went out and got thoroughly battered last night, and hence am not in a state of complete mental clarity, I'm just gonna go through the thread and pick out some stuff. Seems logical... That made me laugh. (The first time) That had me in stitches (Y) We found out that Wanio is cheating and using an engine (Y) Then we got some of the good stuff... At this point I'm thinking along the same lines as tankrider (Andy): we already have an over-estimation, as we're using an equation based around the biggest sprocket anyone is likely to be using, and one of the strongest chains out there, so rounding it up to 600Nm of torque would offer an additional margin of safety. But there's another three pages to go yet :o Wow, I certainly didn't think this thread would go so far! (Say hi to Chris for me, he used to work in a bike shop (I forget which, it's somewhere near Shipley or Skipton or something I think) with my cousin, Adam Busfield.) That may be so, but you'd have significantly less teeth if everybody thought that. Nah, haven't really given it away. Ad got the actual idea in about 30 second flat! I wanted the figure because I'm inventive. I saw something that made me wonder whether I could come up with a new drive mechanism for a trials hub, but to know whether it'd float I needed some values. You have to remember that Hope started out small, had some good ideas and made it big. I think if I keep trying hard enough, for long enough I'll get something back. No danger of that... I spose I'd better clarify what I meant. I was really after the force between the freehub body and the shell of the hub: the force that any mechanism would have to be able to withstand in order to remain intact. That makes sense, doesn't it? I think :o My head reealy is aching now, I'm going to make a very greasy fried egg sandwich and some coffee. BRB. Mmmmmm. Thats better :) Again with the laughing (Y) Ok, I think I'm up to speed now. What it seems to come down to is that to be safe, you need a bit extra, so 600Nm is a good figure. Cheers guys (Y) Edit: f**k a duck, do I get the 'longest post in TF history' Pink Basketâ„¢ award? :P

I asked George French, but he wasn't sure. If you could ask one of the guys at Hope I'd really appreciate it ^_^
