well what the title says really

i have decided to build my wheel instead of having it built at a shop. I have been lookin at how to build wheels on the internet and they talk about different patterns such as crows foot, 2 cross crows foot and more.i have a hope xc rear hub and a echo rim, what shall i do?

I don't want to grind my rim and i was wondering if it is possible to sand the rim and get results or to do anything else to improve braking. Much appreciated, Luke

I have never locked out a mech before or had a mate who has done it. I want to buy a mech very soon so i can lock it out. What is the easiest and best mech to lock out? Also with some tensioners you can move the arm with the wheel on across to selsect a different gear. Could i do this with a locked out mech 'cus then i would be able to select a harder gear for riding places. Cheers(y) Luke

Just built myself a new bike up, and have ordered a wider rim. The only thing left for me to do now is to sort my gears and mech and shifter out. At the moment i have got an xt hum with a 7 speed cassette. I know i need a short arm mech and i've seen trials gears but i dont know what to get. What do you thing i should get. I am willing to spend about £50. Cheers, Luke :P

At the moment i've got a shimano xt hub, db spokes and a mavic rim. i want to buy an echo drilled rear rim and i dont know if it will work. will it? Also, will my maxxis holly rollers fit the new rim???

Is that your pad job or some random pic?

Dont worry about clogging or anything. Its just ive got them maguras with 2 bolts and usres was for the other type.

I know it gets on everyones nerves talking about this pad and backings subject and i promise i will shut up after this. Please send any pics of custom backings and pads to this please.

sorry to be abit of a gay but i still dont get this hole backing business. ive got the wrong idea. Im thinking ' if i pad summot behind the pads the magura piston wont push in and stuff'. and my pads im using now like move when i brake and look like they are going to rip off and the noise from the is hurendous.

I have an echo pure frame and a 721 mavic rim. Its not good. Ive bodged 2 standard magura pads together and its working alright at the moment. I need some thick pads to reach the rim enough instead of getting a trials rim. What are some good thick pads?

I have recently brought an echo frame, forks , middleburn crank and more a few days ago so only have about £50 to spend. I have a long arm xt derailor , 7 sp xt cassette and a 7 sp grip shift type 'sach' shifter. All this does not work and like i said i have £50 to spend. I was thinking of getting a single speed conversion because i can get a surley singulator tensioner for £5 off a mate but im not sure whether people use single speed on trials bikes or just tryig to buy a short arm derailor and new shifter and keep my gears. What shall ido? Please help, Luke :)

It sounds quite complicated, could one of you please explain in simple steps how i could do it and i'd be using a surley singulator.

Is it possible to have 2 cogs on the back of a bike and just a tensioner?? so i could change from a softer gear to a harder gear for riding myself. Has anyone done this?and how would you do this?
