  1. Yeah, that latex'll be fine. :) The rim strip i'm using is a proper notubes one i bought (for dirt cheap, cheers) from Ali C, but i've butchered a 20" tube, and once stretched round the rim, is perfectly fine. (Y) If you're using 20"/19" rims, then you can get a 12" tube for cheap from either an LBS, or a unicycling shop. (Google...) The rim strips are the actual bit with the valve, so making one, and attatching the valve securely would be pretty hard! You really don't need the stan's stuff, it's a lot more expensive, and although seals a little quicker, does exactly the same job! Just for the record, i didn't drill the inner wall of my rim, and it's fine. :) I doubt it, i spent a few hours trying, and just couldn't get it to seal successfully. Every so-often on the rim, there's 2 small holes about 2" apart, right near the sidewalls, and so are very hard to seal! Well, i would've been (and was) sceptical about that, but with my front tyre at very low pressure i had a nasty crash in birmingham, which powered my front wheel sideways into the step, which put 2 ~5mm gashes in my tyre, and i originally thought it was the seal broken, but no, it was fine! Admitedly, the latex couldn't seal a big gash in my tyre, but i just sanded it down (all without taking the tyre and wheel off), and applied 2 inner tube patches, pumped it up, and is fine! :) Mike. :)
  2. I bought just standard liquid latex, it's designed use was "Modelling". Not too expensive. :P Yeah, a standard compressor will do the job. :P

  4. Funny. Not funny. :turned: Anyway, you sure it's fully bedded in? Best bet is to keep riding trials on it + search for more "how to bed discs in" topics. (Y) Good luck, and fair play for trying it! I'm all for bringing ideas which not many people use to the masses! Mike.
  5. Meh, not a bad ride, started off mint, but my crash put me off for the rest of the day. :turned: Booning up onto a rail, then landing on the slopey bit. :P" Proof that the tubeless does do a damn good seal between the rim & tyre! Even landing sideways on a step, putting a gash in the tyre didnt break the seal! :P Shame about my rear tyre too! :P It just kept coming off! :P Would've been riding much better if it wasn't for that! Ah well, good to see everyone. :) Mike.
  6. Well, it was perfectly safe really! It only takes a really thick person to get it wrong! (Or a really smart person to get it right. :- ) And the price of the rim-strips are obviously included, which are about £4 anyway, so it's only like £6 each time you change your tyre/rim (not very often!) Mike. :turned:
  7. Not worried, just concerned, but there was no need, it was fine. :turned: Yes, it can without a problem!! You deflate the tyre, leave it in the bike, get a friend to hold the tyre to one side, then grind in small patches. Did this the other week on a friends bike. (Non-tubeless anyway) It really is very hard to get it to inflate with a track pump, you just need that sudden burst of air to get the tyre to push against the rim, other wise it'll just come out. And it does take a long time to seal, by which time, it might've deflated partially, so you need to pump it up a good few times untill it's fully sealed. Which means either waiting outside a petrol station for a long time, or making various trips. :) Urrr, see original post! Impossible to pinch Punctures sealed nearly immediately Can run tyres at lower pressures. (Wont pinch, and they can fold more due to there being a tight seal between tyre and rim. A lot of people get fed up with the hassle of having to repair/replace tubes (which does add up!) When with tubeless, when you get say a thorn in your tyre, take it out, and you'd never know you had one in there! Yeah, fair enough, it just is quite a hassle, and does take a long time, (and a lot of mess!) to seal it! Something probably alot of people can't be bothered, a tenner's not really that much. Yeah, i'm running it in the front, as like i said, drilled rims are very hard to seal well! When i get my echo cnc'd rim in the rear, i'll be installing it in the back too. :P Mike. (Y)
  8. It worked, but SQUUIIIIDGE!! As said before, since there was no metal inner-casing, the plastic just compresses like mad! It works, isn't great though! Just use normal outer. (Y)
  9. Haha yeah, cheers Ali! (Y) The tyre's not actually filled to the brim with the stuff, think how much it would weigh! It's nearly all air, with say about 2 gt85 lid full's. You'd just let it run to the bottom, then take the tyre off as normal. The liquid latex forms a seal between the rim and the tyre, so no air can come out. :) Yeah, there's no problem, i can easily obtain a 12" rim strip. (I use a 20" rim strip for 26" wheels, so it's tight!) All the rest is the same. Urr, yeah i spose, but you only need to change tyres like once every 4 months? My Maxxis Minion Super Tacky is over 4 months old, and is still going strong. It's just a rim strip, so if you imagine an inner tube, with the valve etc, but just a strip, not a tube. So it's like a rim tape with a valve. :) Joe & sidehop, what are you actually confused about? Seems pretty self explanitory to me!! Mike. :P
  10. Yeah, just shoved an allen key right in. I think you've missed the point, that it can be done on any tyre, just your normal existing tyres! I'm running my 4 month old minion single ply! Mike. (Y)
  11. I've just installed my self (ie, not a "kit") tubeless system today. And thought i would tell everyone all about it. *Yay* Pros: Lighter Impossible to pinch Punctures sealed nearly immediately Can run tyres at lower pressures. (Wont pinch, and they can fold more due to there being a tight seal between tyre and rim) Cons: Hard to set up (where i come in :)) Harder to remove/change tyres. I was a bit nervous first putting it in, as i had a horrible feeling that as soon as i pumped it up, (you have to use a compressor, so it pumps it fast enough!) liquid latex would spew everywhere! But apart from a few bubbles of foam, which when layed flat were fully sealed in about 20 mins, it was all sealed, and i was well chuffed! I've been using it all today, and been doing some horrible gap to front wheel, with my wheel landing at 90 degrees, (ultimate tyre folding opportunity) at low pressures, and not a sign of the seal breaking. I also, (actually gay ben did) shoved an allen key into my tyre, and holding the hole at the bottom, was sealed in about 15 seconds! I might try something larger tomorrow. :) Obviously i'm gonna have to wait and see for the long time effects, but i presume (and hope) it will be great long lasting! The tyre can also be inflated and deflated no problem once it's sealed, say you need to take the back wheel out of the frame. Since it's such a faff, and not alot of people have a good need for a large bottle of liquid latex, and a compressor, i'd like to offer me to do it for you all. £10 will get you the appropriate rim strip (needed as it's got the valve), a decent amount of liquid latex, actually fitting it all, and getting it all correctly sealed. (Which is a faff) There's pretty much no tyre which can't be sealed, even old tyres with small (ish) holes in them will just be sealed, although i couldn't do it on my koxx (drilled) rim. It's very hard to seal around the holes succesfully! But all other (non-drilled) rims should be fine! I'll be running it in the rear once i get my new echo rim! So if you've always wanted to run tubeless, send your wheel, tyre, and £10 (plus postage) to me, and i can get it done for you. (Y) If anyone wants/needs further info, give me a shout. Also, for your viewing pleasure: Pain of Puncture Test Video :) (Right click > save target as) Mike. :)
  12. Lmfao, i don't think he actuall had some. I know tom and mike did. haha/ And, nah, i'm not really a proper stoner, just when i go out (rarely), i prefer it to drink. :) Mike.
  13. Sigh, canabis sucks. :)" Take your bud. (Or leaves & stalk if you've got a plant, but just lots of it!) Put it in a pan with a big slab of butter, and a little bit of water. Boil for about 20 mins. Seive, so you're left with just the butter, pour into a bowl, let to cool in a fridge. For the cakes: 100g of butter 100g Self raising flour 100g sugar 2 eggs. Lots of cocao powder, vanilla essence, eg stuff with lots of flavour! Put into a big bowl and blend untill smooth. Put into a lined & greased cake tin. Put into medium oven, untill golden brown, springey, and silent when you listen close to it. :) Good luck. :) Other uses for the butter: On toast. Cookies. Garlic Mushrooms. (Use "shrooms" for added "woaaah"ness and coolness. (Y)) Etc. Mike. P.s. I/we're soo cool, drugs suck, get a life, blah blah blah. :)
  14. Ah, but actually getting it into my mouth wasn't part of the idea!! (Y)
  15. Yeah, as said just spray it into a jam jar. I find it "collects" the most actual liquid (instead of evaporating/not "sticking" to the rest of the liquid), by doing it like this: Spray close to the jar, and at an angle, so it's close, but got lots of surface area. Just something i'd add. Oh, when my syringe broke, i developed a way of partially sucking the water up the tube with my mouth, then pushing it back down. Let's just say when tried with GT85... (Y) Mike.
  16. *cough. :"> http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ndpost&p=484474 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ndpost&p=426436 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ndpost&p=356978 http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....ndpost&p=293181 Hmmm, anyone spot a trend. (Y) Yeah, to make the "proper" rice krispie squares, add lots of sugar to a pan, and quite a bit of water, bring to the boil, but don't let it brown, add some marshmellows, melt, and stir in the ricecrispies untill their all evenly coated. Spread into a tin, smooth, and leave in the fridge for a bit. (Y) Mike.
  17. What's wrong with the 2.5" minion, dual ply, super tacky? Pretty much same tyre, slightly different tread pattern, still gripd damn well!
  18. I'll buy it if he actually sends it special delivery for 26P! :ermm: Funny thing is, it cost him 12P to list it too. :- Mike. Edit: Another thing that pisses me off. Under "cycling accessories" then "other accessories", there's over 9000 "bands" of somesort! Could ebay just sort out a seperate category?
  19. That's what i'm running now, awsome, bearings are smooth, very grippy, look nice, and seem very strong, they've been bashed into walls many times, never lost a pin, and they use beefy 4mm allen key heads in the back to keep them in! £70 price tag though. If you can find any 2nd hand, go for it, i picked mine up in mint condition for about £30! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5197 These are what, for two years i learned on. The photo makes them look utter trash, but they look the same league to the atomlab pedals. The bearings lasted over two years, but developed a little play and un-smoothness, so i decided to upgrade. I never lost a pin, and never had to tighten them up. For under £50, these would be my ultimate choice. I'm sure i've written another review somewhere, i'll find it. :ermm: Mike. :-
  20. Yeah, sadly i'm thinking of getting a moped untill i'm 17, just to get to 6th form. (A good 10 miles away!) All i'm looking for is something that is (in order of desirability) Cheap (to start with, and for spares etc) Petrol Econamy *Miss a few million imaginary points* Looks cool. If anyone could point me in the direction of something suitable, just cheap, and does the job. I'm really not into that "i can get an extra MPH by adding this burberry exhaust pipe" thing. 2nd hand is expected, so if anyone knows anywhere decent? Autotrader? Thanks, Mike. (Y)

Even if it is in a wrong position (which it sounds like it isn't), get an avid, so it's fully adjustable anyway. (Y)
  22. March. Was a pretty poo write up, and only one photo of me. :P Mike. (N)
  23. And the story behind yours? Mine's taken from the mbuk hop idol report, adding "fatmike" and the echo control logo (albeit small) onto it. They said i raised my right hand ontop of the big concrete ledge to "salute the judges", unfortunately, i didn't have time to raise my middle finger aswell. :) Mike.
