  1. Pm "samthebiker", he's got some old onza forks i'm sure he's willing to bring down tomorrow for cheap. :) Looks like we (most of the worcester lot) will be there at 10:12, as the next train doesnt get in 'till 12:12. Ah well. See you all there. :P Mike.
  2. Right, sorry for the legibility of the text, stupid M$ Paint! The "handlebar" you're reffering to is actually the "stem". The handlebar is actually the bit that you hold onto, with the brake levers etc attatched. You need to make sure that the steerer tube (the part on the top of the forks that goes into the frame) sits below the top of the stem. (See dashed lines on diagram) This is so that the top cap and bolt can push the stem down towards the frame without being obstructed. This can be acheived in your case by either using stem stackers (available from your local bike shop, or any other bike shop, or any old tubing that fits), or cutting the steerer tube on the forks down. Be careful to measure it correctly, and ensuring you've allowed for the compression of the headset. Then saw it straight. You're best off paying your LBS to do it for you, then they can measure it, and cut it straight. Good luck. Mike
  3. Yeah, you can do it, i've done it a few times. It can save time over fully re-lacing, but if you're reusing the spokes, then it's a good idea. Mike. :-
  4. Why is it more expensive for me to insure a moped than it was for my brother to insure a 1.4L rover at 17! I think all i can see so far is gonna cost about £250+ Anyone know of any other cheap places I can try? All help appreciated. Mike.
  5. Aye, the location of the 6th form college just means i'd have to get a train journey, then a bus journey, or 2 buses, which would take a bloody long time (about 40 mins), and 15 mins walk (*shock horror* i know) back and forth every day, but on a gay little ped i could get there in 25 mins... So it does seem best for me. Mike.
  6. Hey, cheers for the link, i saw that a little while ago too. I'm probably looking to spend under £400, so if you see anything under that, please say. (Y) I'm scanning those adverts now, not sure how old some of them are though... There's a couple that look promising; Or: Do those look ok? Also, where will be the cheapest place for insurance? Mike. :)
  7. Right, ok, and where can i get one of these on the cheap, ideally if anyone knows any places that do them 2nd hand, or could point me in the direction of a specific one? :deej: Mike.
  8. Hey guys, the time has come for me to purchase a moped. I know what you're thinking, as i'm thinking exactly the same; "Oh dear god, a hair dryer with wheels", but I think I really could do with one, as soon i'll have to be going 10 miles to 6th form every day, and just useful for doing errands etc, as it's a lot quicker than my bike! Basically, I have no idea where to start - I've looked on auto trader and ebay to buy one, but there seems very little for what I want, and the few insurance quotes i've looked at (based on random mopeds) are like £200-£300! So if any of you guys are experienced, I'd like to know: Where to get a 2nd hand moped, looking to spend as little as possible, on something that works. Where to get cheapest insurance. Where/how I apply for a provisional licence, whether I need lessons/tests etc. What else I need, helmet, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Mike. (Y) EDIT I meant HELPFUL advice. :)
  9. Better change your sig George. :) Thanks everybody. Mike.
  10. Sorry to be a bit of a bummer, but i've just got back today, from a few days riding, and my heatsinks have completely dissapeared. The same has happened to frenchman. £14 for 3 days riding = :) Mike.

  12. You're not actually allowed though Jonny. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=54937 (Y) Nah, the bike looks pretty swish, nice one. :D :- Mike.
  13. No, if you read the article, it does actually say they got pregnant at 12, 14 and 16 respectively. It's just spacco dave saying they had children at those ages. :S Mike.
  14. "60a Maxpro Compound". Oh, there we go, dry as a bone. (Y)" And I can't believe hardly noone puts a load of talcum powder/ground chalk in their tyres, it just won't pinch like that! (With a maxxis :S) Mike.
  15. God, if you want free chocolate, just go to a pizza hut, get an "icecream factory", and help yourself to buttons, smarties and dolly mix. Got a good plastic bag full. (Y) I'm yet to hear a responce from Gu, when one of my hot chocolate souffles came without a lid! Bastards. They do make nice puddings though. :"> Mike.
  16. But they grip like oil. Not a bad idea, i've got some blue stuff like that under my bed. May give it a try (not that i need to (N)), untill i get my new rim (Cough* Ali C!) and a new tyre and run tubeless again. Mike.
  17. Couple of photo's i've taken. I'm a bit of a newbie to photography, doing it for a-level though, should be good fun. Taken with a manual SLR, and scanned in. Mike. (Y) Edit: Damn, they look so dull and lifeless when uploaded + compressed. Either way, i've got the full size originals to enjoy.

  20. So you'd never buy anything again, never earn any money, and not have any hospitals, police, etc, just so show those people whose country isn't as fortunate as ours "who's boss"? Hmmm.
  21. Working fine here! You sure you've spelt it correctly? www.eengoedidee.nl :) Mike.
  22. A whole, screwed up 2 minutes work went into that Joe! :) And yeah, messed up. And I thought it was actually illegal, yet they get benefits! Mike.
