  1. Another point to notice, they're claiming they're giving an extra $5 to charity per headset or whatever, but they're charging $5 more for them anyway! King have really annoyed me on this one, they said, around Christmas time last year (what a coincidence, they release a new colour, in aid of charity, just as people are buying nice expensive presents...), that this would be a one off production, and they'd never be made again. Then, now, they're just going back on themselves, seems pretty weak to me. Although they're not giving a massive percentage to the charity, it does add up, and how many other bike companies do you see doing things like this? And as a company, King Group are bloody good, I'm not sure how many of you have their catalogues collected from over the years, but throughout they're history, they've continually set a benchmark example of how other companies and factories can operate. As someone said on another forum: Mike.
  2. And worcester! Yeah, definately some good riding, even if some of the footage is pretty old. B) Definately agree with Stephen about the music and the thumb over the lens, I know you could have easily done the gap again! But it's just minor things. Nice one. (Y)
  3. I'm glad nearly everyone enjoyed the vid - good to hear it. :P Mike.
  4. I'm using, and am thoroughly reccomending this; Amazon... I've got one, and they're great, there's various reviews about them, and it's an awesome price. You can get a firewire card and cable from dabs.com for pretty cheap, that's what you'll need to capture it. >_< Mike. (Y)
  5. Correctomundo. Well gutted. (Y) I'm gonna have to wait ages, and might not even get it replaced - can't fit my new forks untill I get one either. ;) However, I will be using another, very few people have these problems, so definately go for one Ian. >_<
  6. You definately don't want to be capturing via USB - what the guy in the shop was talking about is firewire. Some PC's have firewire cards/ports already, others don't. You can pick up a card and cable for well under £20 - I got mine from dabs.com. The slot in your pc (if you have one), is this shape: ./'''''\ !......! !......! ------ (Ish) Firewire allows a much higher data transfer rate, so you get a lot higher quality than you could ever get with USB. (Unless it's USB 2.0, which it probably isn't) As for a camera, I'd very highly reccomend a Sony DCR-HC19, it's really good quality, loads of really useful features, touch screen, can use as a webcam etc etc. I paid £265 from amazon, but they're a bit cheaper now. I'd also reccomend getting it from somewhere like Amazon, it might be a tiny bit more expensive, but a much better warranty service than a lot of other shops. (Which did come in handy for me, there was a small fault, and amazon sent me a brand new one the same day. :S ) Mike. Edit: Slightly beaten by Mink - but hopefully I've provided a little more info. :P
  7. The fresh products tensioner is awesome, and I've landed on it a fair few times, that would have previously took the mech hanger clean off. It didn't even bend the hanger, simply scratch some of the anodising off the tensioner. :P It's really good, simple to adjust, etc etc, and I can't see it possible to snap hangers with it. (N) Steel drop outs (or mech hangers...) still would bend, except they'd be possible to bend back - up to around 20(?) times, before they snap, whereas alu can only be bent and bent back once before it would snap. Titanium on the other hand can be bent back like a thousand times before it breaks, so it would be a far better material to use. :P If you go through mech hangers frequently (like I used to - just nowhere near the rate of Porter ), then I'd definately buy a fresh tensioner. Mike. (Y) Edit to post below: They're £28, and you can get them from The Fresh Products Website :D
  8. I've built both my front and back wheels, done a few now. Once you know what you're doing, it's really not that bad. Just try and maintain an equal spoke tension all the way round. Like Sam suggested, sheldon brown is a great place to learn how to do it. It's the only resource I've ever used. (Y) I've not trued my front wheel since I ran a vee brake and had to, and not trued my rear wheel since just after I got it. (But that's mainly 'cause it's such an uber strong rim). Definately go for building your own wheels, it's a great skill to have, and it's pretty hard to cock up. Just make sure you get the spokes a decent tension, work slowly, and pre-stress it regularly. :P Mike.,
  9. Cheers for all the comments guys - glad you liked it. (Y) I've added an Mpeg version on there, for those that were having problems with the divx one. Mike. :P
  10. Hey guys. :P Got my new video finished - I reckon it's ok. The song is Jamiroquai - King For a Day. It's 2:52 long, and 30.1mb. MPEG FORMAT ADDED. It's in Mpeg and divX format (divx is slightly better quality), go on www.divx.com and get the codec (you don't need the player - it'll play in WMP) if you don't already. :- Some stills from the vid: Link, left click, then "Fatmike4.divx" or "Fatmike4.mpeg": http://tv.isg.si/site/?q=filebrowser/Fatmike Hope you like it - feedback would be nice. :P Thanks to Heatsink Bikes, and LSA Endowments For supporting me. Mike.
  11. I should be coming down. (Y) I'll be getting in at 10:56. Mike.
  12. The new Heatsink 4 bolt booster has a lot more adjustability than any other 4 bolt booster I've come across, 93-103mm bolt spacing, meaning it will fit pretty much any 4 bolt frame out there, and it also has loads more tyre clearence than my control booster had. It's also substantially cheaper than the Onza carbon, RB, and Echo Control 4 bolt boosters, not to mention how much stiffer it is than all of them! It's also been designed to save a lot of weight (compared to the Control booster) too. Here's some pics of it on my bike. Unfortunately they don't come in this colour, but they are finished in a fantastic anodised silver. (Y) Mike. :P
  13. Edd Potts - Random Pimpy bits Arron Rogers - Fresh Products 2 Different people. (Y) I'm running an RB lever blade (orange), filed down to fit a Magura '04 lever body. T'is the best setup imo, the lever blade gives a much more comfy feel, and slightly more leverage due to the length, whilst the standard body prevents leakage! :P Mike.

    Pimp My Bmx

You most certainly can. (Y) Most (if not all, i'm not sure...) bmx chrome rims will be alu, it's only very cheap rims that are made out of steel nowadays. The wheels look phat. I've already ordered some to be custom made around my rear hub, and will be anodised orange. I'll post pics when they come. Sweet video too, some really stylish riding. :P Mike.
  15. Danny was slightly drunk on msn last night. (Y)
  16. And their reply; For a company turning over £1.5million, their website sure is shit! Ah well, at least now we know why their service sucks. :P Mike.
  17. *Too I've not heard that, but whilst riding home the other day, I got, from a pikey girl; "Ah mate, you' wheels are spinnin". :P Classic.
  18. I should be able to make it down - taking a 12:36 train, getting me in at 2. :) Hopefully see you there. Mike.
  19. The body varial was absolutely incredible - not surprised it won best trick at the x-games! Yeah, it's been nailed a good few times, really impressive. Double backflip on an MX bike, insane - fair play to the guy. Video?? Mike. :)

    Map Help

Get a speed/milometer on your bike and ride it? Seems like the best idea. How long is it taking you?
  21. Hehe, loving Danny's failed up attempt at the start - straight to bash. :P Danny & Ashley looked pretty nervous, but can't blame them. :( Was good that it's slowly getting more & more exposure - nice one for getting it on BBC1. :) I'm sure from a non-rider's point of view it would've seemed really impressive. Mike.
  22. All I can say is: Minto pics phil - shame you couldn't ride, but was probably worth it, we've all got some good snaps now. (Y) Was an awesome ride, cheers to everyone who came. (N) Mike.
  23. Oh, ok then, since you all asked so nicely! I was tempted to write a review for mine, but I didn't - as Arron didn't give me mine free! However, if I did, it really would've been the same as Porter's (except better written & punctuated (Y)). It really is an awesome tensioner. (N) (Y) Mike.
  24. Haha, quality - definately the best so far. Good work TJ! :$ Yeah, damn straight, bunch 'o pricks. (Y) Lmfao - la la la la la. (N) (Y) (Y) Sorry for the lame post. Edit: Woo, i've redeemed myself: (Y)
  25. Rock n' roll dudes...
