Just got an optical trigger, Chris. Same as on many studio lights. Edit: Sorry, just re-read what you'd written Chris. Obviously the sigma doesn't set off the on-board flash, it's the other way round...

Just like to point out you really don't need anything extra to run wireless on Canons - I'm not sure why people think that. Just put the sigma flash (which is the one I'd reccomend) on slave mode, and you then just use your pop-up flash to trigger it. Obviously there are better ways of doing it, cables, little transmitters, pocket wizards, but optical triggering works. (Edit: yeah, it's the EF 500 DG Super flash you'll be wanting) Yeah, fisheye wise, you've got a few options depending how wide you want. The 8mm peleng's a great lens if you don't mind doing some cropping to your images to remove the vignetting, and it's very wide and nice. You can get a 16mm zenitar for cheap, which again is nice, sharp - manual focus only. You could spend a lot more on a sigma/canon 15mm fisheye, but same with the zenitar, they're really not that wide on a crop camera. The other option is to go for a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye zoom lens. I've just got mine, and it seems really good - just not had much chance to use it yet. It's pretty pricey over here, but get one from ebay, or shipped over from america and you're sorted. I think mine worked out at about £270. (Edit: Re the 10-20 - yeah a great lens, and very usefull for when you really need a wide rectilinear, but I found it really not that great for trials, the distortion was just too much! Fisheyes give a much more natual effect.) Mike.

Tried it with a different lens?

They don't look oversharpened at all to me Joe - spot on IMO! Exposures all nailed perfectly, how were you flashing them? Good stuff.

Looks to me like you need some grippier pedals. Or SPD's

Wanna know what's not funny? That actually worked. :$ Funny thing is it had full battery the day before. Ah well. haha

Argh Dammit. My 80gb video has just stopped working - no response or anything, tried re-setting it... Just no sign of life. Who knows how to fix it?

Swot?! I did absolutely zero work outside of lessons, and likewise absolutely zero revision outside of lessons.

There's an excellent 18t bash for a middleburn fit which will be fully announced in the next few weeks. I'd hold off any bash related purchases until it's out!

Not really, you need wheels on a car. Yeah, it's all pretty much been mentioned what you might want it for - long exposures, some portraits, long (heavy) lens sports/wildlife shooting, panoramas. Basically any time you'll need to steady the camera either due to weight, exposure, or need for the camera to be still. Only time I usually need a tripod for is my flash when I've got noone to hold it!

Man, I love comps like that. Wet and mud is fun! Congrats to everyone else who finished - good job. A huge thanks to all the observers, was cold enough riding! Also cheers to Barbara and everyone who helped out. Looking forward to the next one I'll be attending.

Absolutely incredible! Really refreshing to see someone who really knows how to ride a mod. Very impressed.

I've been running them for years, wouldn't consider another.

I'd disagree with all three of those statements personally. I'm amazed at the amount of interest in a new headset! Obviously regarding the two other headsets which compete with the new tensile, Hope and CK, the hopes have been proven that they don't hold well up to trials, and are generally purchased for the Hope brand name and/or their asthetics, whereas Chris King have been proven over the last 2 1/2 decades that they're the most reliable performing headsets available. Fair play to tensile, they've developed a new product which, from the specs seems to compare favourabley to the CK, and as we'll find out, may prove to be even better. Tensile now compete well with Middleburn cranks, which are generally widely accepted as the best for trials. Nice one.

Hey Erik. Yeah, I sold the 1D for the 30D a while back - pleased with my choice, very happy with the image quality, larger screen, and lower weight than the 1D! Thanks the the positive feedback. -

Thanks for the comments. Spode - I'm using a 30D now, which is great; I really like it. None of the images there are straight out of the camera, I shoot purely in Raw. Many of the shots are simply adjusted in raw (colour balance, contrast etc), then resized in Photoshop, sharpened and saved. Whilst some of them are given a fair few tweaks involving different techniques within Photoshop. Here's an example of both: On the left is the original Jpeg straight out of the camera, and on the right, the processed Raw file. And on the top, again the original Jpeg, and below the processed Raw file. Mike. -
That was awsome Phil, nice one. Awesome style/posture!

Enjoy!

Using pans like that is cheating! I had a few, but made them in a proper heavy Pancake Pan, which is flat with no big-ass lip to help with flipping - takes some skill that does.

Exactly, I'm all for rules, sadly, they're the backbone of society. What I'm not up for is rules that don't make sense, ie gears! I welcome when the change happens that Britain follows suit (note when not if!).

Just to point out - auto exposure does function with the Peleng/Zenitar lenses. Yeah, PS work was required with the Peleng, either cloning/cropping to remove the dark corners, however I've made great A3 prints with both lenses with minimal work. It sounds like a Zenitar 16mm fish might be what you're after, cheap (£75ish or less), gives good, sharp images, and is a great introduction into fisheyed pics! (I'm selling one btw :wink2: ) But yeah, totally avoid the adapters.

So there's only 1 trials rider in Norway who's above 13 and doesn't ride a Monty? Nice bikes.

Added up my calculations for the year to give to LSA endowments. I've budgeted a shade under £1000 inc licenses, fuel, entries etc. That's YMSA's, Tykes, Nationals, and Koxx Days. Lets hope LSA pay out!
