they put up a big list of like basic areas you can choose from and i chose urban water management thinking it would be more interesting than "reinforced concrete beams"... i was mistaken. they then give you a title if you cant think of anything you want to do. Yea the 35k one is masters.. wooopty

Why would i though? im against the petition if you take the time to read the thread. If you want to get pedantic about things then surely you are just moaning about me moaning or perhaps i should state that this is a forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. At no point did i get up on my high horse unless you feel intellectually challenged by the whole affair i dont see why anyone would see anything i have stated in this thread as being "high horse". At the end of the day lets face it, you'd rather try and make a personal attack on what i write instead of trying to actually present some factual information that would make me think twice about my own assumptions. To be honest.. i dont doubt you have to do work in other courses but the degree you get out of it makes for a pile of shite options career wise and i wouldnt call english or sociology a real world "skill". Unlike engineering or art etc and more to the point anyone that goes to university, gets in debt, has a loan and ends up with a degree they can do nothing with really need to evaluate whether it was worth even bothering in the first place when an apprentaship would have been a better deal for them. The "i have a degree i can get any job view" is a pile of shite and its something i beleive a lot of students are kidded in to thinking whilst applying to universities at 6th form.

Aghhh i have 1 more year till i have to do mine, i was supposed to do it this year but got moved on to the masters. Ours is absalutely insane for civil engineering we start off with literature review (16 pages nice n easy), then a thesis (10,000 words) then the actual project and write up which is.... 35,000 words ...what in dear f**ks name am i supposed to do to reach that. I know a Phd one is 65,000... but still.. 35,000 takes the piss. The title of my project that i would be doing now was: "The study of motorway rainwater run off, its contaminants and effluents readings based on seasonal change".... ... im very happy i get a 2nd chance to pick one now :-p

Its not being unusual its being realisitic. If everyone in this thread were so outraged by what was happening why dont they write a letter to tony blair themselves? simple facts are not even they care enough to pull their fingers out and be pro active. Signing a petition on the internet is the easy way out for people to kid themselves in to thinking they have actually helped the cause. When really all they have done is sweet f**k all. I never labelled art as a subject being worth sweet f**k all, it is one of those courses that you can either do or cant do. Its a natural skill so why should it be shunned? however im going to stick by the other subjects i mentioned as i see them completely pointless unless you want to go in to teaching. Oh by the way it would actually be nice to see some actual evidence of this interest bashing that the government is doing. I know its very easy for people to blow things out of proportion on the internet, add in little bits to make their argument seem a lot more powerful than it really is. All ive been trying to say is i dont understand why you are actually trying to fight the system, with an internet petition. Its like top up fees... students went marching about doing this and that to try and stop it happening... got them no where and i would say thats about as pro active as they could have got. lmao just read the first post again.. all of this has been kicked off because of intranet email? oh dear if i believed everything like that i would have sent my life savings to some bloke in nigeria with the promise of getting my 3 million unclaimed lottery money back in return. Oh god.. the guy who made the petition cant even spell salary.. seriously people.. this is a joke edit: found how to get rid of the italics woo

No, in your previous post you made it seem as if you want to make profit from a student loan, which you certainly wont do. University doesnt mean you are going to get the gods gift of jobs it just increases your chances on landing a half decent job, which if you have chosen a decent degree will open up in to bigger oppertunities. As i said before, labour government. Why do you think tony blair bought in the postal vote? simply because the majority of people who want labour cant even be arsed to go to the town hall to make a vote. Next elections i expect a telephone/online voting system to come in, which will no doubtedly favour labour. Im sure no one has accused students of being sponging gits. I would say the majority are cheaky c**ts who think they have more rights to things than they actually do.

Eh?... If students didnt go to university then the country would just attract highly skilled workers from other countries who will work for less money. Its already happening in this country to a large extent (dentists/privatisation). A student can not complain about having to pay for a loan. I know for a fact english, psychology and media students have sweet f**k all lectures during the week. Infact i will go as far as saying you could get away with a full time job and have someone pick up notes for you to pass the degree. Its a complete joke that people even consider going to university to study such shite in my opinion. Then they are the ones that seem to bitch the most about having to pay for loans etc. Uni costs money its a simple fact, the government offer loans to allow people who are not so "well off" the chance to go to study further education. The problem is it seems that they dont understand how a debt ridden labour government works. Some online petition isnt going to change anything and lets face it why bitch and moan about the amount you are getting "screwed out of". I know people who pay £30 a month towards their student loan infact, there are people who pay even less. So when you are worrying about figures like that you are losing out on what? and extra £20 a year max?. Even on the off chance that this gets sorted, the government will get the money back out of you somehow. Whether its by influencing a rise in tuition fees, basic tax rates or whatever. There's literally no point bitching about it and in my opinion you are faced with a lot bigger problems like inheritance tax which is just down right disgusting.

Its up there with the cheesiest movie lines in history imo.

Why should YOU make profit? The government/banks are doing YOU a favour by lending money. If they want to screw you for more then they can its as simple as that, its not in their interest one bit for you to pay off a loan quicker. If anything they want you to spend the rest of your life paying for it. If you were in "their" positon then im sure you would do exactly the same. After all the money isnt yours to start with.

b*****d... i almost had forgotten about my jaffa cake addiction until i saw that pic.. 43p from tesco's for a whole box.. god those were the days. On a side note.. Ben lee is a blatant homosexual
-
To be honest, why bitch and moan? you took it out which has risk. Just because it has the word "student" in the name doesnt mean it is risk free compared to a standard loan. Just be thankful you dont have to pay it off until you are earning unlike a "real" loan would have you doing.

Ive seen bulbs that are 55w but output to 100w for instance and say on them that they are road legal
-
Righty my headlights are so wank really really dim at night and unless on full beam i cant see shit when im driving. I pulled the bulbs out today and they are phillips h7 55w 12v bulbs. Ive done some googling and i cant seem to find any decent online places to get bulbs from they are all usually really shitty places that i aint going to risk using (not that im mr paranoid but they just look wank so the service no doubt cant be much better). I think you can get them upto 130w? i dunno eitherway i want some f**k off powerful bulbs that are going to be overkill at the least. So basically h7 silly overpowered bulbs where from?

f**k all story line to be honest. I liked the fighting was pretty decent film overall. It was a bit like blackhawk down except a few hundred years difference, just swap yanks for half naked blokes. Infact couple black hawk down with brokeback mountain and you pretty much know whats going to be happening.

No offence but its not going to happen at all. The bills on their own will rinse you of all your money within the first quarter for example my bills on the house i own (so i dont have to pay rent on top of this unlike you would). Electric - £290 Gas - £110 Phone - £120 Water -£400? pay yearly off meter NTL - £55 a month Broadband - £25 a month Food - £50+ a week I have 2 guys living with me who pay rent, i dont have a mortgage to pay off so their rent goes straight in to the bills and to be honest im only just going to even my expenses. Its by no means a easy thing to do and renting isnt putting you on the property ladder, its just putting you in a property. My recommendation is to live at home until you are atleast 21, parents are there for a reason and unless you are kicked out for being a dick or something then you should stay with them as long as you can. I read something a few months ago now in the paper saying how there are loads of 30+ year olds moving back in to houses with their parents just because they cant afford propertys/expenses at the minute. House prices are increasing constantly and dont look to be coming down anytime soon in the near future, if you are planning on buying a house then go to america.
