How can the definition of a Covid death be anything other than a death due to Covid?
-
That's not a great analogy though - the loss of blood was directly because of the car crash. Dying of a heart attack 20 days after Covid might not have been as a direct result of having Covid. Deaths are not accurately reported, it's that simple.
-
I don't actually believe that that's true, but it does highlight just how much influence the media has over decisions made. The media decides to cover the conflict so the spotlight is taken away from Covid, which naturally means people will take it less seriously. I suspect it's the same reason there's so much fundraising for Ukraine but not for other countries that are in conflict, but that's a totally fresh can of worms. Covid restrictions only ramped up like they did and for as long as they did because of media hype.

For the most part, yes. To many, the unvaxxed are still mass murderers (Seriously, I was called that a couple of times!). I'm hoping that a few people I know say "You were right after all", but I doubt it. It is interesting that vaccines didn't cure Covid, but Russia invading Ukraine did.

I know he's Marmite and sometimes dismissed purely because of who he is, but this is very interesting. I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

PayPal might be able to help you reverse that, they're usually pretty good.

Nah it makes sense and I get why you're pissed off. I had similar with my insurance company and underwriter with my car claim last year, incompetence like that is infuriating. Hopefully it's sorted soon!
-
Yeah that's the stuff, or at least very similar, but it's not good on uneven ground - well, that's what installation instructions suggest on similar products. This kind of product would be the best option if it worked though.

Cheers for the detailed reply. It is on a hill yes. Drainage isn't currently an issue, but yeah I'd need to consider it with any driveway work. The problem with levelling the lawn is that it would make it a different height to the existing driveway - this is a problem because the existing driveway would be used to access it and the car would be parked 70/30 on the new and old driveway, if that makes sense. They need to be the same level. It's impossible to give a good view of the driveway in photos, it just doesn't show the angles properly. After reading loads of websites and watching loads of YouTube videos, I think we're going to just wait and get it all re-done with tarmac once we can afford it - any DIY job would just be a bodge, given how steep it is. Grids wouldn't work and that rubber matting stuff would look terrible. I did consider just laying gravel, but it's so steep I'd be brushing it up every day. So yeah in the short term I'll just chuck down some grass seed and maybe stick a little tree / bush on the end so it looks finished, then in a couple of years we'll get the whole lot ripped up and re-done. The existing one isn't in great shape so it makes sense to do it all at once. I must say that 1 tonner looks fun though

I found this, but I don't know if it would look awful... https://www.matsgrids.co.uk/p/grass-reinforcement-mesh-tm1400/ EDIT: I found example uses, it does look awful.
-
Yeah the calculation I did meant I need 800kg of 10mm gravel to fill the grids. It's more to do with whether the ground needs to be completely level - I know it can be on a slope, but mine is not level. Rather than plastic square grids I think I'd need some sort of flexible rubber instead, but I haven't found anything suitable.

Best photo I can find at the moment, this was obviously before I bought the place. Those big hedges are no longer there. Photos don't really show the steepness, but to give you an idea, the Tiger bottoms out half way up the drive and normal cars almost scrape their bumpers when driving on.
-
Anyone on here knowledgeable on driveways? We have a sloped garden that isn't at all level, it's dome shaped. The existing driveway is the same shape and is tarmac, leading up to the garage. I recently chopped down the huge hedges at the front of the garden (Bottom of the slope) and made a new bed with wood chippings and smaller, tidy hedges, leaving enough space to turn the rest into a second, smaller driveway that would be side by side with the existing one. The plan was to use those plastic grids and fill it with stones, but they need to be installed on a level surface (Or do they? I know that's optimum and the best way to avoid them cracking / moving around, but would it possibly work?) In an ideal world I'd have the existing driveway ripped up and a new double driveway laid down, but I don't have the funds for that, so I'm looking for fairly low budget solutions that don't look terrible. Any ideas?

This is true and it's always made me laugh when people throw huge birthday parties for their first one - the kid has zero clue what's going on... I say this now, but no doubt I'll end up doing just that
-
Love that shade of green, looks really good!

I feel like this is barely scratching the surface, but I appreciate all the replies. Sheryl will probably have her own plans when it comes to the birth, but I'll pass all this on and discuss it Talking of births, the gory parts are something I'm not looking forward to - historically I've not been great with blood and stuff, so that'll be interesting
-
What makes you suggest home / water birth? Our friend in the village has a cloth nappy renting thing she does so we'll most likely be tapping her up for some. I'll need to research attachment parenting (And pretty much every other aspect of parenting lol), I've not heard of that before.
-
Yeah Sheryl is already on the case with booking classes and stuff. I'm gonna be doing a tonne of Googling too, as I'd say I know less about this than the average bloke! I've already gathered that in the first couple of years I'm not going to have much free time - that will be the hardest thing, as you said. At the moment our relationship is pretty free, she's not at all clingy so I do get a lot of time to myself. That will definitely be the biggest change. That said, most of her family are in the local-ish area, so there will be plenty of times she'll go and see them (With three step sisters and one sister, there's no shortage of babysitters!) Highly unlikely it'll land on that exact day, but you never know As I said to Tom, most of her family are down this way. It's the main reason I ended up leaving Hastings and heading west, she wanted to be closer to everyone - it'll definitely be a benefit for us as they're very family orientated so will be happy to help out. My family, well, not so much.

Thanks, it's been 11 years of sex, only now it's resulted in this. I'm fully aware of how difficult it's going to be, I have a few friends with kids under 3 and it seems like a nightmare - why we voluntarily sign up for it I'm not sure... I'm already a night owl though, so that aspect shouldn't be too difficult for me at least
-
Believe me, I already have that. I've been on a lower carb diet since Jan, trying to shift it! Cheers dude

Just need the heatshrink tubing to arrive so I can tidy up the wiring, but they're all fitted now. Much better than the old ones, aesthetically and in light output!
-
Still waiting for a refund from MK Sportscars for wings and headlights they can't supply, but in the meantime I ordered some bits from elsewhere. I mock fitted one of the headlights today (Right hand side are the new type) - just need to grab some bullet connectors so I can wire them in. I think they look much better than the big old ones. Once the carbon fibre wings arrive I can get them fitted and then book her in for some work and an MOT at last!
