Generally the house prices follow the wages. The people that are buying the super expensive southern stuff work in the city and earn a shit load. Same for me, my rent and general living costs in Bristol are twice what they were in Hastings, but now so is my salary... it all works out the same in the end, pretty much, unless you're in a minimum wage job, then it makes sense to move north and save some cash.

That is awesome news, happy to have been a tiny percentage of what he needed

https://www.twitch.tv/dropeightyfour Next set is 18:00 on Friday, my first set for the new crew, it's a 24 hour raid train

Yeah I meant half an hour from where I currently am, rather than half an hour into Wales. Still riding the MTB, though haven't since October due to poor health... when I did ride, Cwmcarn, FOD, BPW and others were the favourite spots, so it'll be nice to live a bit closer to those too

A little village near Caldicot, quite a change of pace compared to the centre of Brizzle - can't wait

It's more a case of having nothing else to do, to be honest. And yeah, I'm clearing out some old crap, so it makes sense to box up the rest while I'm there... Stuff I don't use often anyway.

Our searches came back today... now we're just playing the waiting game, hopefully for not too much longer. I've already packed a fair bit of stuff, quite keen to move now!

I got head hunted by a DJ crew today, they have some big numbers in terms of viewers. My Twitch channel has really taken off lately and I think it's about to get even better Hard work pays off!

He lives in Tunbridge Wells, pretty high prices around there. I saw houses up in Hull last year and was amazed at what you can get compared to prices in Bristol. Almost like 2 bed here gets a 4 bed up there... madness. That's why we've gone for Wales, a 30 minute drive over the bridge gets you another bedroom or saves you £30k.

Yeah I think everything being old hold for months and then the reduction of land tax / stamp duty has meant the market is flooded at the moment. Our house had two other people wanting it...

I'm always a bit put off when they say "Needs finishing, minor stuff..." - surely if it's minor stuff, you'd finish it and sell it for more? That does look cool though, I wouldn't mind a project that's almost finished and I could tidy up, as long as it wasn't hiding any major issues.

Cost and time, really. Also with my Eunos being a total pain in the arse for a long time, I'd like to buy something I can get in and drive, with a bit of tinkering to improve. I wouldn't mind building one from scratch at some point, but for now I'd rather just get something I can take for a blast

The plate almost spells JUNK too, perfect

I think so, yeah. I was thinking about what I wanted and I realised I was going for an MR2 because it's still relatively practical, like the Eunos was... The more I think about it, the more I realise I don't need any practicality - it'll live in the garage and come out on sunny weekends, so a 7 style car would be ideal for that. I also like how "open" they are for working on. I'm not 100% sold on any particular type yet, but whatever I end up with needs to be 2 seats with a soft top / no top. A 7 type car is certainly most appealing at the moment, given the budget of around £5k. The images aren't loading in that link you just posted, but having Googled the SSC Stylus, I'd be open to one of those... Looks really nice!

Here's an example of something I definitely don't want https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ONYX-FASTCAT-RARE-KIT-CAR/193882521597?hash=item2d244c7ffd:g:xuAAAOSwfhlgH8Ad

Thanks for the offer, but it's a bit too early for viewings at the moment - I'm just trying to get an idea of what's what, budget etc... I think a drive from Bristol to Lancashire would be frowned upon from a Covid perspective too Realistically it'll be May or June at the earliest that I can buy. For now I'm just browsing and seeing what engines are common, what's good and what's not. Just from this brief chat, I've written off Robin Hoods as an option (I almost had already, as they seem to mostly be ancient). Any other ideas of types to look at are appreciated and having someone look over a car before I throw cash at it would be awesome too. The Eunos taught me a lot about working on cars, but I'm still a noob compared to a lot of you!

This one caught my eye recently, as an example: https://www.shpock.com/en-gb/i/X_eOSK3jLn0hHfl7/tiger-avon-kit-car

Cheers guys, I'll put links up as and when I find potentials then. I'm happy to get hands on, as I'll have a garage when I buy it - the problem I had with the Eunos was a lack of space to work on it, it just sat outside rotting away... as long as it's mechanically fair, I'm happy to tidy stuff up. I'm assuming most of these kits rot less than an MX-5? What would you say is a sensible budget for a semi-project?

So, after a couple of months of looking at MR2's (With no intention of buying until late summer probably, once we're in the house etc...), I saw this post and figured I could get something like this. Since it's not going to be a daily and I'll have a garage, I don't need the (albeit limited) practicality of an MR2. I've had a good look around the usual places and have found a few options: Tiger Avon, MK Indy, Robin Hood and a couple of others. They seem to be half decent around the £5-6k mark, but I'm still pretty clueless about them. Any tips / advice on what to look for? Ideally I'd like to spend £5k, but if £7k gets you something way better, I'll add to the budget...

Pretty much identical to my old work laptop (Which got stolen...) - they're a decent spec for the price, definitely better than a £300 new laptop with a snail processor in.

The DJ'ing and photography will be a sticking point, for sure! An old friend from back home got me into photography, I'm hoping to have him do it, though the photos will be quite arty rather than conventional wedding style. I don't mind that though.

Haha, yes she is! The one I met is called Ivy.

We put an offer in, which was rejected, then we went in at asking price. It depends on the property imo, we saw some that were listed at 300k and we wouldn't have paid more than 280k for and because we found the house we're currently buying, we didn't put an offer in at all (EDIT: On those higher price ones I mean). Hard to say without seeing your place, knowing the area and stuff, but we went in at asking on this place because it's very reasonable for the area and is fully re-done inside - new kitchen, new bathrooms, new windows, all decorated, nice wood floor downstairs. Two other people wanted it and it's well worth the asking price. If you list something a bit higher, knowing it's not worth that, I'd still expect people to put offers in. To put it another way, we weren't put off houses outside of our budget, because if they were overpriced, we'd just stick a lowball offer in... Luck just meant we didn't have to.

Seems odd that they're "making" you do it. LinkedIn is just like any other social media platform, a personal thing... My company emails out promotional stuff with links we can share if we want, which most people do because it benefits them, but they'd never demand that we use it. I don't know what your company does, but it seems like their marketing and HR teams need to do the work, not you.
