will a giro even work? they pull the correct amount of cable for U/canti brakes, but vee brake levers pull more! odyessy linear slic is the way forward just run it a bit longer for the rear, works just the same when it is wrapped around the frame after a whip...

Your best bet is too try a fairly standard ratio and then decide if you want a slightly harder/softer gear... I am currently running 20-14, it works for me
